My partner and I had the most wonderful stay at this beautiful place in Japan! From the moment I arrived, the hosts went above and beyond to make us feel at home. They were incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive, offering thoughtful tips about local attractions, restaurants, and even hidden gems in the area that only locals know about. The space itself was cozy, spotless, and beautifully decorated, blending traditional Japanese style with modern comforts. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. If you're looking for a peaceful, authentic, and memorable stay, this is the place! I truly can't thank the hosts enough for their kindness and generosity. Highly recommend!

The staff was very nice and we had very interesting conversations. They give very good advice on the area and the Onsen. The place is spotless clean, beautiful and very quiet and comfortable. For a fee, you have access to Onsen in neighboring hotels. The town of Yudanaka is also very nice. The hotel is very close to the train station. From there, you can take a bus to the Snow Monkey Park. Convenience store, bars and restaurants are all walking distance too. If you need to do laundry, be aware that you have to start it before 8pm (might be good to know if you're traveling around and didn't have time to do it before).

This place is simply amazing. The rooms are beautiful, it's always nice and warm inside in winter and everything is extremely clean. Our hosts were super friendly and helped out with anything we needed. We don't ask or Snowboard, so they helped us plan other daytrips. There is a big kitchen for if you want to cook and common areas for if you just want to relax. Also you can get access to the onsen of other hotels for very little money, which was very relaxing. We really enjoyed our stay and would higly recommend to anyone!

Everything was perfect

We had a perfect stay at this hotel—10/10! The owners, a friendly couple with impeccable English, made us feel completely at home. The hotel is spotless, with spacious rooms and beds, offering a beautiful blend of traditional Japanese tatami style and comfort. The abundance of onsens nearby was a highlight—we use it every evening and loved the experience. The owners provided excellent recommendations for hiking trails and restaurants, and we enjoyed fascinating conversations about life in Japan. The location is ideal for visiting the monkey park and exploring Nagano and nature. If we return to this area, we will definitely book here again. We truly hope to see the owners in Europe someday!

We had an amazing stay at Aibiya. The house was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The complementary continental breakfast had enough variety and was a great start to the day. Above all, Seongmi and Yoshi were super hosts. They went out of their way to ensure we had a perfect stay and gave wonderful recommendations. Seongmi even drove to the bus stop as she thought we might miss the bus to the monkey park and would have driven us if we had. I can’t recommend this place enough. Please stay, you won’t regret it.

The breakfast was excellent, and the location was highly convenient, with close proximity to the train station. The staff were exceptionally friendly, contributing to an overall wonderful stay. Approximately eight years ago, my sister stayed at Aibiya and fell in love with Nagano. She spoke fondly of the hosts, Yoshiki and Seongmi, and I knew I had to stay at Aibiya during my visit. Needless to say, I felt warmly welcomed and was deeply touched that they remembered my sister as well. I eagerly look forward to returning to Nagano and staying at Aibiya again in the future.

We loved staying at Aibiya! We recommend staying at this accommodation to everyone. The hosts are so friendly, we didn't know much about the area so they recommended the best places to visit. We ended up doing the most beatiful hike. They are really considerate with their guests and they make sure you have the best time. The accommodation itself is beatiful, traditional Japanese style. We had everything we needed. The location is perfect, close to many places to eat and close to the Snow Monkey park. We definitely want to come back in the winter! Thank you Yoshi & Seongmi!

AIBIYA is in a less touristy part of the area around the monkey park, which is what we needed after days in Tokyo & Kyoto. It is also easily walkable to/from Yudanaka train station and a Lawson - simplifying arrival and departure. Buses leave from the train station as well, making it very easy to hit the monkey park as well. Beds were comfy and air conditioning, etc worked well. Everything was exceptionally clean. We went to 2 different Onsen and a foot bath - absolutely loved it! We loved the architecture of AIBIYA with its wooden beams and calming Japanese decor. Maybe the best part of the stay was our hosts - Seongmi & Yoshi are fantastic, proactively helpful, and took time out of their busy schedules just to talk to us. Thank you both!

We stayed 4 nights and it was delightful! The hosts are amazing and day trips to Obuse, Nagano and off course the Snow Monkeys were easy by train or foot. The village is small but charming and in a blink you are in Shibu Onsen. Would totally recommend. Shared douches and little ‘noise cancellation’ was what we were afraid of beforehand, but the place was al peace and quiet (even fully booked) and showers were very good. Finally also a great breakfast.

I loved the look of this hotel from the outside in, it's so cosy. The beds were great and particularly the duvet / quilt. I'm still dreaming of the cosy quilt! Everything inside was so well thought out and beautiful - the games room with tatami, the inside garden window area, the dining room. I loved the breakfast of fruits, cereal, yogurt, toast, tea, coffee, juice - plenty to set us up for the day and nice and healthy. Hosts Yoshi and Sue were really welcoming and helpful, offering recommendations and help. We loved the sake on arrival too! We found Aibiya very convenient for the station and the bus to the snow monkeys and it was a lovely walk back from the snow monkey park, even in rain. Shiba Onsen, just up the road, is a more atmospheric town than Yudanaka, but they join together, and it's less convenient for the train! I also loved their ethos to have a little local craft shop at the front, to recycle and compost and to have an area in which guests could leave anything they didn't want to travel on with and Yoshi and Sue would repurpose, donate, or rehome it.
