Beautiful manor type property, location was great - in a very beautiful little village, accessible directly fr Sapporo main station, walkable, beautiful woods and lake around the property. Private bath in our room was the best, warm and clear. Free drinks (within certain hours), and activities are not very pricey but extremely pleasant, we did the birdwatching and we were so happy. Also luxurious dinner and breakfast service.

Restaurants around the area close at 3pm and open again for dinner time. This is not a problem if planning to eat during usual lunch and dinner times but not for off hour dining. Birdwatching guide knew little English and unfortunately we failed to study Japanese as well. But the guide tried to keep us included and translate as much as possible despite this and we had the most magical time.

The Executive Room with Hot Spring Bath we stayed at was spacious and had lovely views of the red leaves from the living room and the very roomy hot spring bathtub. The location was perfect for visiting the Onuma national park. The dinners were also exquisite. We also used the hotel's excellent shuttle bus service to the Hakodate airport. All staff members were nice and helpful.

We informed the reception that we wouldn't need cleaning service for the next day and also put out a " Do not disturb" sign on the doorknob. The cleaning staff came in nonetheless while we were out. While we appreciated the conscientiousness we wished our request had been respected.

The location of the resort was close to the train station of JR Onuma Koen. The resort has a retro, traditional design but the services and facilities provided were exceptional. It was a comfortable stay at the resort. They even have this cool model of the area with toy trains running around.

Probably a small room for improvement would be the signage that leads to the resort from the train station could be placed in a clearer location (it was hidden behind some tree leaves when we came. We managed to use google maps to navigate which is not an issue for us. But for people that are not certain about using google maps it would be a bit challenging.

With my wife we stop here on our way to Sapporo. The Onuma quasi national park was amazing itself, lots of birds and the path along the lake is awesome. The hotel was an experience. The interior design with beautiful wood crafted statues made the stay exceptional. I am a smoker and even if in the hotel is not alowed to smoke, the smoking room was comfortable and easy to reach. The rooms are big, extremely clean and there is all you need in them. The view on the lake from our room was great. We had the breakfast which was varied and of high quality. I enjoyed the scrambled eggs, and for my wife, which is vegan, they arranged a great breakfast too. Finally consideration the staff. They all speak English, they are extremely polite and will to help you in order to make your stay pleasant. I absolutely recommend a stay in this hotel to enjoy the wonder of this naturalistic area!

The food, the food, the food! Outstanding unbelievable level.

The bed is hard and uncomfortable. I know the Japanese prefer that but for European customers a simple solution would be quality mattress toppers: more than one if necessary

Beautiful hotel with charmingly quirky railroad history display in bar area. The food and service in the restaurant is excellent. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

The adjacent town is pretty dead in winter - not much is open.
