the futons are very comfortable... more so than Toyoko or Smile. There is also a 20% chance you'll get the opportunity to chat with cool travelers, more if you speak Japanese.

Noisy cleaning process that sometimes goes on for 10 hours. Unlike a hotel, the sheets are resistant to small oopsies. Depending on what room you get, you may not get full sized table, the WiFi is good, but nothing beats a wired hookup, specially for international zoom calls.

The view from both my room and the communal area was amazing. This hostel is up on a hill, which means you have to walk about 15 minutes to get to the convenience store — but it's totally worth it! You can lie in bed and watch the clouds drifting across the sky, and when you stand up, the sea comes into view through the window. I loved listening to the sound of the waves from my room. Sitting on the bench, feeling the breeze, and just relaxing made me truly happy.

Fantastic location with a great view and traditional tatami mat setup. Extremely good value for a private room, and proximity to onsen is great as well. I arrived earlier than expected and Sasa-san cleaned up the rooms very quickly to let me put in my luggage. Wish I could've stayed longer!

Only complaint might be that it can get cold throughout the building at night (stayed in late November), but there are heaters in the rooms themselves. There can be a bit of rattling as well if the winds outside are strong, but this didn't keep me up at night.

Absolutely beautiful view! A lovely, quiet and relaxing stay. A very clean and comfy Japanese style room. A little further out, but Hakodate is small so it’s not such an issue. Staff was very helpful and kind. You can hear the ocean in the distance and see the city lights at night in the living room.

The location was amazing and the views! Our room was very spacious and had amazing views! We were thankful there was dedicated parking and we were able to do a load of laundry during our quick stay. The host was very kind and responsive to my questions. Honestly we loved this guest house and wished we were staying in the area longer! Definitely recommending my to anyone who will be in Hakodate area!

The guest house was located perfectly near the tram station and on the Hakodate mountain. I loved the house and my room as well as friendliness of the ower. I felt like a guest, not customer. I wish to come back.

Very nice host, some great retro decor around the house. Wonderful view of Hakodate and the sea. Good matresses considering it's a japanese-style room using futon.

Location is great for the view and the overall experience, but it's hard to get to and there's not many stores or restaurants in the vicinity.

The guesthouse has a nice vibe and a great location with amazing view!

There was no one when we arrived and we did not have the code of the front door, make sure you have this information beforehand! The rest of the self check in was easy.

A washing machine would be great, especially during the humid and hot days. No dealbreaker though.
