The whole place is very impressive. A little distance (1.4km) from the station but this hotel provides a shuttle service to and from the station. Best to check timetables in advance. After check-in time drinks and nibbles are on the house. I'm still gob-smacked by that. The view from the hotel is quite spectacular, overlooking the bay and Oshima. Facilities at the hotel are abundant and the meals at the restaurant tasty and filling. I love a hot bath and the "onsen" at the hotel really relaxed me after a day's sightseeing. My room was extremely spacious, equipped with desk, sofa and two beds (even though I travelled alone). And how much for all this pampering? Really, very inexpensive!

I don't like that I my schedule prevented me staying more than two nights. The wine-list was a tad ordinary but I may send them a selection of nice Aussie wines by way of thanks.

Amazing views from the rooms, lounge and pool. The pool was gigantic and the kids loved it. We particularly loved the lounge in the evening where you had access to coffee, herbal teas, soft drinks and delicious drinks like plum wine. It was a very social yet family friendly environment where we could play boardgames with the kids and enjoy a nightcap. The price was very reasonable. We also enjoyed access to connecting rooms.

The pool does not open regularly until the Japanese summer vacation, which is in late July. So less convenient for those traveling outside of this period. The bathrooms were quite small with very little storage areas to keep items.

The breakfast was amazing. The view was great. Great beach nearby.

The rooms and bathroom are a bit outdated. The facilities for washing your clothes were terrible. We had to wait 5 hours till we could wash. The staff were more kind to Japanese people. Some people reserved there "washing spot" without waiting or they were put in front of the line. We were told we have to wait in line in person. It took long and it felt not fair. Just put some more washing machines or make a clear rules for waiting. Also the hallways smell a bit smokey.

Mercure wakayama is one of the best hotel in wakayama.. The room is really spacious..really big enough for 3 people..we booked mountain view room. Even though the location quite take some time to walk from the nearest sea.. But the location is very good.. We really like the outdoor onsen n the cleanliness of the onsen facility.. We also like the breakfast buffet in the morning.. There is also a shuttle bus to go here n from the train station., it's really helpful for the tourist

Maybe a little bit ambience of old hotel from some corner of the hotel.. But overall the facility is still in good maintenance

Nice hotel with amazing Onsen (indoor and outdoor) and a great dinner buffet. I enjoyed the nice view from my room, especially the sun rise was amazing (I stayed there mid April). The hotel rooms are a bit old, but it was fine with me. As mentioned, I did enjoy the variety of the food provided for dinner. As I had to leave early, I cannot speak about the breakfast.

My parents love the spa with an absolutely fascinating view They also enjoy the free bar (when the whiskey ran out the staff replenish ASAP) The front desk staff was very nice , although he might not be very fluent in English he tried very much and show his sincerity. And the information was still clear.

The bad was hard The toilet has a smell because it is old

The view is great. The onsen is very beautiful. Some drinks are offered. Our room provided wide space. The staff is really helpful.

This is a huge hotel and it was quite busy during our stay (Golden Week). The breakfast room is a bit noisy. The hotel has an old fashioned style and looks quite gigantic from outside. You can't miss it by watching the coast. About 30 minutes of walk to the city centre.

Great breakfast, pleasant onsen and sauna, nice to have a free glow lounge in the afternoon and evening, shuttle to the station at certain times, friendly staff.

The hotel does show some signs of aging and the shuttle times don't always align with the train schedule. However, this did not affect our stay too much, we enjoyed it.

Excellent view of Hashigui Rocks from women's outside Onsen. Big inside Onsen. Nice soft music and good smell everywhere in the hotel. Free parking. Spacious room. Happy hours free drinks and snacks at the lounge. Good breakfast.

The receptionist speaks quickly, and there is no smile when checking in. It's too complicated to connect WiFi.

The room is super spacious, the buffet dinner offers a very varied choice of dishes and all of very good quality. On top of that: good coffee free of charge in the reception room at breakfast time. At the time we were there, the hotel was mostly frequented by locals, which added another dimension of charm and authenticity.
