We loved the old-world charm. We like unique experiences, and when we saw the listing for this property, we thought it was what we were looking for. It exceeded our expectations. We had the largest guest room, which was the only one with its own kitchen and ensuite. It was very comfortable and cosy on cold nights. The property is very convenient for Nijo Castle and the Imperial Palace, and is well-serviced by public transport and supermarkets. This is no five-star hotel, but this is why we loved it.

The room may benefit from some brighter lighting, such as a reading light.

Nicely restored Japanese house with 4 rooms. We stayed in a smaller room upstairs. The house has a nice inner garden, which is visible from the garden room and one of the rooms upstairs. The shower and the restrooms are accessible from the garden. The house has a small common space with a kitchen counter and washbasins, since the rooms don't have any of these features. The house has been very nicely restored, the mood is all in all very good. The room was prepared with classic Japanese yukatas and winter haoris to use them inside.

Keep in mind that this is a classical Japanese house with no central heating system inside, thus the common spaces are really cold in winter (the rooms have AC). There are a couple of mobile heaters in the place, but prepare for cold toilet and cold bathroom.

Everything! The staff were so lovely and helpful. Our room was amazing, beautiful garden attached also. The beds were so comfy. Tea and coffee included, and one of the lovely ladies on reception kindly let us leave our bags all day while we waited for our train and even gave us biscuits too.

if you’re looking for a very traditional Japanese experience for a good value, this is absolutely the place. We had a room with private garden and I just couldn’t stop myself from relaxing. Truly beautiful and authentic.

lovely little place in nishijin! it’s a old house that has been beautifully renovated, and all the common facilities (toilets, shower, kitchen areas) are new or very well kept. we got lucky and had the room overlooking the beautiful inside garden. the place is also great value for money. breakfast was simple but sufficient, and there is are supermarket and a coin parking around the corner.

I like the NishiJin area very much and the host is quite friendly.
