Beautiful property. Wonderful manager. The inn has a lovely garden and a unique layout that allows you to see it from different angles. The proprietor is kind and considerate. He took good care of me. They've got a few bicycles on site for guests to use. This is a great way to get around Kyoto if you're comfortable with urban riding.

The only element that didn't quite live up to the rest of the property was the bath, which was a little grim. Not dirty, just not on the same aesthetic level as the rest of the place.

Host are lovely and welcoming. They made sure everything was taken care of and to my liking even reserving hot spring time for me after a long day in Kyoto. This was my first old ryokan style accommodation and it met every expectation and the aesthetics were on point!

Location is a bit out of the way making for a hike to get to it. This can be a bonus since it is a dead quiet neighborhood easy to relax in. Walls are a bit thin so keep that in mind for other guest, rooms are also a bit dated in design but that comes with the old feel.

The home-made Japanese breakfast, which changed every day, made our two weeks stay in Japan an exceptional experience. Apart from the fact that the Ryokan is well centered between many sightseeing opportunities. In addition we enjoyed to have several reasonable dinner opportunities very close to the hotel. Many thanks also for the offered very relaxing Japanese-style bath, once we come back, we will only stay here.

The owner is a very wonderful and helpful old man, it was a delight to stay at his ryokan! You could reserve a japanese style bath for free, which was an amazing experience. The place is clean, quiet and relaxing. The heavy futon comforters made for very good nights sleep!

This is not a complaint, but a feature of an old house guest need to prepare for: hot water can be limited. It only takes a short moment for there to be more hot water and we weren't phazed by it at all. But it's good to know.

The owners are amazingly friendly and attentive, very accomodating to all guest needs, a great source of info as to local sights and where to go/how to get there. As a solo traveller, I stayed over a week and found the property safe, cozy and very comfortable, with a amazing location within walking distance to a lot of sights and buses (ex: direct bus to/ from Kyoto station and a famous local shrine are both within a one min walk of the hotel, the imperial gardens within a 15min walk). It was very nice to come home after a day of sightseeing to be greeted by the friendly owner and enjoy a hot shower and soak in the relaxing, enormous Japan style bath tub. Wooden structure of the building seems a precious cultural relic, but very lovingly taken care of and very comfortable to stay in. I found the room very quiet and relaxing and sound insulation was not an issue like I thought it may be for older wooden buildings-there were other guests but the only real background noise is the chirping of cicada and crickets in the garden (my room looked out into the garden directly and the view is very zen and relaxing). There are times you feel as if you've travelled back in time a century or two. All in all staying here was a intensely relaxing and unique experience I would highly recommend to everyone.

My girlfriend and I had a fantastic stay at Yadoya Nishijinso. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay—the lovely ryokan strikes a great balance between traditional Kyoto-style hospitality (tatami floors, beautiful garden, etc.) and contemporary comforts, the location is great for exploring the city, and Kazumi, the host, is warm, helpful, informative, attentive, and especially sensitive to the parts of the experience that are distinctly Japanese (such as the traditional Japanese baths). Any travelers would do well to choose Yadoya Nishijinso for their stay!

The ryokan's WiFi range is limited, but your time is likely better spent enjoying the property itself, not to mention all Kyoto has to offer!

Everything was very clean and cozy, and almost felt like it was from a different time. Beautiful garden, tatami floors throughout, traditional Japanese style room. A recommended experience for anyone visiting Japan!

The bath facilities are very clean and have everything you need, though if you want to take a Japanese style bath you need to request for the owners to prepare the tub. Not a major issue, but requires planning and leads to the owners regularly asking when you plan on showering every day.

We had a lovely stay at Yadoya Nishijinso - the hosts are just wonderful and were so helpful and welcoming. It’s not centrally located but it’s really well connected by buses and close to some of the shrines/attractions in the suburbs. All the linen smelled lovely and we loved the pyjama kimonos ♥️

It would be nice to have more than one shower facility but it was always free when we needed in so it was all good!

The host was so kind and was such a great help. He gave us loads of recommendations for Kyoto and helped us with any of our questions. The room was lovely and quaint, the perfect experience for a more traditional style Japanese inn. I would highly recommend for anyone wanting to have a true traditional experience. The garden was lovely to view as well even though there were a lot of bugs about thanks to the season!

Great traditional stay to experience a ryokan. Staff are lovely and let us drop luggage on first day before check in and let us keep it there on last day to explore still. Obviously it’s smaller and not a hotel so bathroom and toilet is shared however found it all part of the experience

It is a little way out of the main areas to sight see so very residential and not overly close to train only bus stop is close by though.
