Very quiet area. (Very nice) The smoking area is near our room. The smell seeps through the door as someone who has sensitive nose it was not great. But other than that everything is perfect!!!

+ Very nice and helpful staff + Great location + Great value for price

- There were no curtains for the beds, so no privacy at all. I think curtains should be standard. - For some reason the blanket is not changed/washed after every guest. How it works is that you get a sheet that is supposed to be between you and the thicker blanket. So they don't wash the blanket, just the sheets. And the blanket just gets some spaying down after check-out. But most guests use the blanket without the sheet which means each guest is sleeping with a blanket that has already been used. Very unhygenic. After I found out I tossed my blanket and just used the sheet. Everything else was cleaned regularly.

- super social hostel, everyone was very chatty and friendly - staff were very helpful and accommodating, gave me loads of recommendations and extra sheets when i was concerned about the lack of curtains - the place was very clean, the staff cleaned the bathroom, kitchen and rooms everyday - very close to kyoto station - lovely coffee spots close by - 7/11 close by - amazing nepalese place close by with great lunch deals - easy subway to the gion district and other areas - shared kitchen, hang out space and laundry room

- no privacy curtains even in the mixed dorms which might be an issue for some people. it did mean the place was more social though, chatting with your roommates was easy

Everything. Very social and great reception team and uk team. This place is so clean and the most social hostel I’ve ever seen and stayed at in all of my travels in Japan. I had the best time in this accommodation and enjoyed Kyoto because of my stay here! Thanks, All! They also have great postcards and everything about this place was traveller friendly. Lounge was the nicest area ever in many of the hostels I’ve stayed at around the world.

Nothing. Everything was great about this property.

The house was relatively clean, with the rooms and bathrooms being clean. It was more of an upkeep kept by the people staying there but was still kept relatively clean. The beds were comfy, with plenty of room in the space for people! The showers were clean with a great shower head and had soap, conditioner and shampoo provided. The heater did well at keeping the rooms warm. Got plenty of storage for even big bags, just bring a lock but you can put everything in there. The wifi was great throughout the place, and a big common space and kitchen fully kitted out with utensils for cooking and 3 fridges. It was ¥500 for wash and drying your laundry and you could get change down at the desk if needed, just get in there early or late as you then might have to wait for others. Overall staff were polite and there from 8:00am-9pm for any needs, you can get free adaptors and chargers etc. Overall would recommend for a decent and clean place.

There were no curtains on the bunks for more privacy. The kitchen was a little dirty but mostly due to the use of others. Other then that, it wasn’t within easy walking distance of a supermarket, and was a 15 minute walk to Kyoto station. Just keep that in mind, that’s all!

I had a great stay at K’s House Kyoto. The location is excellent, just a short walk from Kyoto Station, with easy access to restaurants, convenience stores, malls, and attractions. The hostel rents bikes, which is a great way to explore the city. The reception team was extremely helpful and kind, always ready to offer advice and suggestions. The front desk has lots of pamphlets, maps, and local recommendations, which I appreciated. The common areas are fantastic, spacious, clean, and perfect for either socializing or getting some work done. There's a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable sofas, tables, an outdoor area, books, and games. The dorm room had a window, quiet air conditioning, lockers, and space to hang clothes. The bathrooms were impressively clean and spacious, with good amenities including shaving foam, a nice touch. During my stay, I was lucky to share the room with considerate and tidy fellow travelers.

One downside, however, is the check-in/check-out policy. After traveling across Japan for 20 days and staying in various hostels, I noticed that check-in tends to be later and check-out earlier compared to other regions like Southeast Asia, Oceania, or Europe. While this information was clearly stated when booking, I still think it could be improved. I arrived around 2:15 PM and was told my bed wasn’t ready. When I came back at 3:30 PM, the bed was still unmade, with the linens just left on top — suggesting I had to make it myself. I don’t mind doing that, but it seems like something that shouldn’t take more than five minutes, so check-in could reasonably start at 2 PM, with check-out at 12 PM.

First of all, all the employees there can speak decent English, and all of them are very friendly. I really like how they guide you through the check-in process and everything, and all the facilities provided by the hostel. They even got a dedicated shoe storage space and shoe dryer!!! I stayed in a 6-person mixed dorm, and each bed has 2 type-A plugs. The shower room is so clean and well-equipped. Body soap, hair shampoo, hair conditioner, and hair dryer are provided. Each floor has its own shower room, so everything is so good. On top of that, there is a common area on Level 2, and you can freely use any of the facilities (kitchen, fridge, cooking utensils, washing machine, etc.). Do note that you need to pay for the washing machine, but it's fine. They also provide slippers for all guests. The most caring part of the hostel is that there's Braille at the lift!!! I would 100% recommend this hostel and come back again in the future.

Nothing. Everything is perfect and exceeds my expectations.

Everything was very clean. We had a shared bathroom but I rarely ran into other people there, so it was all very convenient. There’s a 24 hour laundry room, as well as very cosy and well-stocked lounges, and there’s a very nice bar literally next door. The staff was very helpful and kind. The beds were comfortable, and I think for a hostel it was pretty quiet when we went to bed.

Unfortunately our room had a glazed over window into the courtyard and was a bit dark at times. But nothing that would be a huge issue given that we were only using the rooms to sleep.

The hostel was very clean & modern. The kitchen was spacious and well designed. The terrace was cool & had a great view. I enjoyed the common area - it was comfortable and guests didn't have to sit on the floor like in other more 'traditional style' hostels in Japan.

This hostel needs urinals for the male guests. It is not comfortable to use a toilet all the time. Inside the dormitories, the beds have no soundproofing - bunk beds are located right next to each other without walls or anything to block noise. Any guest who snores or makes noise in these dormitories will be heard by the entire room. This ruined the quality of sleep for many guests. Using ear plugs every night is uncomfortable for the ears.

The common area was the best I have experienced in a hostel environment. I was very thankful for the bean bags when I arrived and needed a nap. There kitchen is well equipped for all the meals you’d need to make. The rooms are a little tight but excellent use of under the bead for the locker. The bathrooms and toilets were clean and in very good condition. There is very helpful information on planning your trip in Kyoto in the downstairs area. There are umbrellas to borrow and bikes to rent. I took the bike for a short ride along the river. It was very nice.

No curtains on the beds. After experiencing this here I learnt that it is an essential for me.
