Loved the traditional feel of the property, lovely decoration with plenty of space. Read some negative views of cleanliness but all seemed clean to me. Yes there was dust on the hard to reach beams but to be fair for me that added to the feel and did not interfere with our stay. In nice quiet area, close to one of the famous shrines (walking distance- 10 minutes) but little further from some of the other more busy touristy areas. You will need to use either public transport or a bike to reach these. Breakfast not included, but good facilities to make your own and shop nearby. It definitely was one of our favourite stays in Japan. 😊👍❤️

Very cute, traditional Japanese house. Nice kitchen and bathrooms and comfy tatami mat beds. Also great because my in-laws were coming with us and they got to use the western style beds upstairs.

It was a bit unclear to us how to separate the trash, a little sign on the trash cans could help with this!

It was beautiful and clean. It was very easy to access and locate and it was very comfortable and exciting to return to after a long day of tourism and walking.

Nothing was bad! The location from everything might be a bit far but using the bus system was easy and accessible. Also, the Kyoto accommodation tax should have been included in the asking price rather than afterwards.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at Miun Kinkaku-ji, and I must say it was one of the worst stays I have ever had. From the moment I arrived, everything seemed to be going wrong. First and foremost, the condition of the rooms was appalling. The paper window was broken with holes. It was clear that no effort had been made to maintain or update the accommodations. The cleanliness of the property was equally abysmal. We witnessed COCKROACHES, MOSQUITOS and SPIDERS. It felt like the room hadn't been properly cleaned in ages. I couldn't help but question the hygiene standards of the establishment. We were bit by mosquitos MULTIPLE times. To make matters worse, the staff displayed a complete lack of professionalism and customer service. They were unresponsive to my concerns and seemed disinterested in addressing any of the issues I raised. I told them there was some hygiene issue and I had to get an extra hotel booking and the staff did not care at all. Furthermore, the bedsheets and pillow sheets promised on their website were nowhere to be found. It was clear that the property had not lived up to its advertised offerings. Overall, my experience at Miun Kinkaku-ji was a complete nightmare. The lack of cleanliness, outdated facilities, and unprofessional staff left me feeling incredibly disappointed and frustrated. I strongly advise AGAINST anyone considering staying here, and should look for alternatives. Save yourself the headache and avoid this property at all costs.
