The ryokan is lovely and the staff was very welcoming and helpful. We got a corner room that was very spacious and cozy, with lovely views of the mountains around Suwa. Although there is no shower in the room, the shared baths are well equipped and super clean. We have also booked and enjoyed the outdoors private bath, which was very relaxing despite the chilly weather outside. For an additional fee, we have booked breakfast and the staff has kindly accomodated our vegetarian request; the food was very healthy and nourishing.

The beaded pillows for the futon could be uncomfortable for someone not used to them.

Great service, there's an outdoor and indoor onsen. The lady helped me with her food recommendations around the area. There's also an elevator so you don't have to carry your luggage up the ryokan! Please read the instructions provided especially for which onsen you can go to (so you'll have to remember the Japanese characters for Man and Woman) and know when the outdoor onsen is available to guests and when it is available for private use. I used a car so this place was good for me. It had a lot of parking.

If I remember correctly, the wifi was a bit weak but it wasn't a big deal since I had data. For the room, I booked (not sure if it applies to all rooms) please expect your shower/bath area to be the indoor onsen so it's shared with others.

After two weeks of campervan we wanted to end our Japan trip with a ryokan stay. We are very happy we booked this place! Most amazingly was the private outdoor onsen. Rooms were big and extremely clean. There was some nice matcha tea and hot water provided, so we could enjoy the little tea room! Also there were yukatas we could borrow. Staff was also extremely kind!

Personally I didn’t like the pillows, and for me the futons were a bit too thin. My friend however slept like a baby!

Everything was great including onsens.

Futon mattresses are maybe traditional, but very thin so you are sleeping basically on the floor, which is obviously not comfortable.

The staff was so helpful. They were able to help me book lodging in my next city where the host did not speak English or have a web site.

Exceptional service, comfortable and spacious traditional Japanese room, lovely bath house downstairs, friendly staff, decent internet, close to restaurants, I can't complain.

Nil - Best place we've stayed at during our trip in Japan.

I had the best night in Gingetsu. After onsen, I've slept like a baby. The tatami beds were really comfy, especially pilows filled with beans! The room was really beautiful.
