Traditional lodge run by a lovely couple. Rooms are traditional with tatami and futons and even a kotatsu for those chilly nights! The rooms are a good size even for the twin room, plenty of space of 2 large suitcases. Definitely get the home cooked Japanese breakfast, it is delicious and changes everyday. High speed wifi, plenty of toilets, tea, coffee all provided. The location is perfect too, 1 min walk from Shinden bus stop and Shinden public onsen, 5 min walk to Nozawa town centre, 3 mins walk to the Chuo terminal bus stop (important when heading back to Iiyama station because the buses can skip Shinden if it’s crowded), 15 min walk to Nagasaka Gondola station and 10 min walk to Karasawa chair lift. We rented our gear from Nagasaka Sports Thanx but left them at the Karasawa Sports Thanx - it’s a much easier and shorter walk from the accomodation. We absolutely loved this place and I would definitely stay here again when I’m next in Nozawa Onsen
Only downside is the restricted shower times - bath/shower limited to 430-730pm for males, 730-1030pm for females. We worked around it by going to the onsens (highly recommend Furusato-no-Yu (paid)), closest free public onsen is 1min walk.

Second time staying here and we returned due to the location. It's very close to the Shinden bus stop and less than 10mins to the centre of the town and foot of the mountain. The breakfast was what drew us the first time and we were not disappointed. It's traditional Japanese-style breakfast and the taste is just amazing. Wonderful way to start the day before hitting the slopes!
They have an in-house onsen/bath and the timing is staggered between males and females. The female timing was during dinner and we were always out but not a big issue as there is a public onsen just a stones' throw from the property.

The room was a good size for 4 persons. Breakfast at about ¥1300 was healthy and nice. Must tell the owners in advance though. We had no issues with the shared bathrooms and timings for males/females. The common areas were clean and useful too with hair dryers, extra hangers, microwave oven, fridge.
There is no kettle in the room and the lounge/dining area closes at 930pm. On the 2nd day I saw a kettle in the dining area and the lady kindly let me borrow it! The location is near Chuo terminal which is good. Not that near Oyu street where most of the restaurants are, but still within walking distance.

Centrally located. Close to the bus station, town where all the F&B is and easily accessible to the “Yu Road” travelator that takes you up to the mountain. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast (additional fee) was excellent every morning. Public onsen right outside that opens till 11pm everyday - perfect for a late night soak. Will definitely go back.
Not a complaint but notes for picky travelers: - the shared bathhouse (in-house) goes by shift schedule. So if you aren’t comfortable with the public onsen, you need to time your day - breakfast is served at 7:30am (great for those heading out early to the slopes)

Location, proximity to ski area, Soto-yu, restaurants, and complimentary tea and coffee in hotel. Restrooms on every floor. Drying room for snow gear. Friendly staff. We were the only westerners so the hotel was wonderfully quiet and just enough off the beaten path that we didn’t have to listen to all of the vacationers partying. There is no kettle or fridge in the room, but a shared fridge in the communal area and hot water downstairs. I was reluctant to stay in a place with a shared bathroom, but it was honestly a pleasant experience, and taking my nightly bath in the Soto-yu down the street was like a vacation in and of itself!
Maybe bring a different pillow of you have pillow preferences, however this would just be a small consideration.

Great place to stay in a traditional Japanese style lodge. Was definitely different to what we would experience back at home but that's the whole point of travelling to a new country. Staff were friendly and so cute. Great service and we loved how close the onsen was.
We didn't stay long enough

Very clean old style guesthouse with Japanese breakfast which was always delicious. We were the only guests staying, which was good in a certain way.
Strange that we were the only people staying in the minshuku - where it actually says that the accommodation was fully booked (on Booking).

Relatively new, clean, spacious and conveniently located near the bus stop and restaurants.
Male staff (could be the owner) was grumpy and unwelcoming, shower/ bath times was strange. Not a deal breaker, but the pillow they use was made of beans which was kind of uncomfortable but my friends liked it.

The location is perfect.
There is only one room to shower so they have a schedule. Showers are from 3:00-4:30. Then men only can use the bath from 4:30-7:30 followed by women only from 7:30-10:30.

Breakfast was really great every morning . Fantastic way to start the day before hitting the slopes. Minshuku was really really near the shuttle bus pickup and drop off. Cos you board the bus before the busier spots , there's always space !
