Good location, close to onsens and 10 minute walk to the gondolas. Breakfast was amazing and served on time each morning. The staff were very friendly and made the stay very comfortable. The futons and tatami mats were comfy to sleep on and the rooms are kept fairly warm with heating. It can get cold however, over night but the bedding was very warm.

The only issue is if you’re looking for a private shower, the bathroom situation is a shared onsen with a shower, for me this wasn’t a major issue.

Amazing location right in the centre of town! 1 min walk to the only convenience store in town as well. Man who runs the ryokan (presumably Mr Yamada) was lovely and he even cut us some apples one night during our stay.

Common areas can be cold in the middle of the night if getting up to go to the bathroom.

Breakfasts were fantastic. Very traditional Ryokan - great cultural experience. Location was excellent. Staff very friendly. We were able to check in early too - much appreciated!

It's hard for a Westerner to negotiate the eating, sitting, sleeping on the floor. Might be my old bones! This is also a very traditional place, so don't expect a modern and polished environment.

Very authentic Japanese experience. The hosts couldn’t have been nicer. Really felt like you were staying with family. Husband and wife hosts made sure myself and my daughter had a wonderful time.

The onsen is quite dated, however you are 2 mins walk from several other onsen.

The bath was hot, the place is traditional, and the owner is amazingly friendly and considerate!
