The location was a 20min walk from town with no shuttle bus but the views and the facilities were amazing. They had free ramen and green tea at the shared kitchen. No private showers in the room and would need to go down to the public onsen. But rarely would you see another person use it at the same time.

We were snowed in for our stay. We did ask if there were restaurant options around but the staff wasn't able to help. I believe this hostel is managed by the bigger hotel 10mins away but there was also no offer to have it as an option to have them arrange for contact/meals/transportation.

There was one particular staff member who was so helpful, he showed us how to use the microwave and was just really kind. The view of this place is phenomenal, I know there were some fancier hotels at sea level and I think those really miss out on these gorgeous views. We watched sea eagles flying in and it was a delight. The onsen was wonderful and quiet. We had tatami beds and western beds. The common areas had beautiful views as well, cool hand painted murals, and interesting books. This place was just delightful with great views.

We had a Japanese style room. It was very nice, comfortable. This was the first hotel we stayed at here, so at first were wondering where the bathroom was (it was the shared one). As Europeans, this was at first a surprise but we very quickly got used to it and it was very pleasant. We were always in the baths alone (no one else came) and they were open for long hours so it was easy to miss others if you wanted to enjoy the baths alone. The hotel also provides free hot drinks and pot noodle, which was very welcome. Really lovely living area and open kitchen, with beautiful views of the harbour and within close proximity of many hikes in the park. Would definitely like to stay again.

Nothing, everything was nice.

The view from the room was worth the over pricing. The room was a good size for one person. The onsen was lovely. The large communal kitchen area was also nice, however it would have been great to have a kettle in the room.

A little expensive for the stay. All that was available in the room was a traditional pillow. It would be nice to have a couple of different types (western) in the room. I did ask, and was given a western style pillow with stains and no pillowcase.

The great view of the harbour from the room. The view of the night sky and the stars. Free parking. The communal kitchen with free drinks and noodles. Proximity to the Shiretoko World Heritage Centre, Shiretoko Five Lakes, the Shiretoko Pass View Point, Mt Io and Mt Rausu.

It was difficult to find a suitable restaurant for dinner in both Utoro and Shari. On hindsight, we should have stayed at either Shiretoko Daiichi Hotel or Kiki Shiretoko Natural Resort where half-board i.e. dinner and breakfast was available.

Onsen was very nice! Beautiful place to watch the sunsets. The sauna was peaceful, and bed was comfortable. Staff was helpful and kind.

We did not know that shower facilities were inside the onsen. Therefore, if you have tattoos, you cannot shower inside the onsen. If you don’t have a shower in your room, then you can’t really wash up outside of using the sink. Also the ceilings were low. If you’re taller than 5’10”, watch your head.

Gorgeous location , beautiful interiors especially in the lobby , rooms very clean , comfortable and great view too. Easily a 3 star hotel , if it had shower facilities in the rooms Used the onsen too , and it was just so relaxing

Wish it had a few more meal options in the shared kitchen other than only ramen cup noodles

Comfy place and nice view

I emailed them about 4,5 days before my check-in day for telling them my arrival time n wanna drop my bag at around 9:15 then i will join the walking tour, ends up no one reply me n i arrived the hostel in my scheduled time n found outside the hostel the notice “ no staff before 10am”

Arrived with our baby, baths has a baby bed and a small chair to put the baby while showering or in the onsen. There is a small bath outside as well. The view is very nice when the weather is nice. Kitchen equipped with all you need. Really close to shirotoko nature center. 12 min drive. Rooms nice, clean and big👍

Stairs in the entrance, we carried all our suite cases up the stairs. I understood there is an accessible entrance but it was closed. In 10 AM you have to be out of the hostel. You cant use any of the facilities after you did check out. We were little surprised that we couldent use the kitchen after 10 am.

Beautiful lounge area. Great view from the room if weather permits. Plenty of car parking space. Private toilet and sink in the room is a big bonus. Shared bathroom is reasonably clean but hair dryer is weak. Shuttle service is available if guests don't drive. If you don't mind waking up and down the hill to destinations, then this place is great.

Instructions on kitchen appliances would be helpful. Removal of shoes at the hotel entrance and changed into slippers that were shared among guests. Shoes were kept in a cupboard that stink up quickly.
