The excellent bed and pillow were great, making my stay comfortable. The staff were invaluable and went above and beyond to help me by speaking to the taxi driver at my destination, which was the bus stop for the express bus to Haneda airport. Without their help, I probably would not have found the location of the bus stop. Also, the staff registered me as a member of Marriott Bonvoy so that I can check in earlier. Although the room was tiny and the bathroom was the smallest of all in Japan, Overall it was a wonderful stay.

Brand new hotel, everything smelling good. Breakfast has a good selection of bread so it’s suitable for westerners. Room has comfy bed and drip coffee available. And very professional staff despite their short time working in this facility.

The rooms are very cramped, the bathtub is the smallest I have seen in Japan. There are about 36 rooms per floor (but somehow the breakfast restaurant was empty)

The staff were amazing and helped with any requests, regardless of the language barrier.

The bed was slightly too hard but wasn't that hard for me not to sleep.

Location is close to train station and many restaurant. The pastries are wonderful, and the cafe's staff is kind and helpful.

Its location was great , not to far from train station. Lots of eateries around.

There was nothing really.

The hotel is clean and new. The non-smoking room has no cigarette smell, (unlike many aged Japanese hotel, where cigarette smell is strong even in a non-smoking room). Cheap hotel. There is no breakfast at this hotel, but this is fine since it was known beforehand.

Receptionist cannot speak English.

The staff went above and beyond to help me. I didn't know the area and they helped me find restaurants to try! I also didn't understand how the air-conditioning worked and the staff member came to my room. They were super friendly and genuinely seemed to want me to enjoy myself and explore their city.

There was one or two people on my floor who were laughing loudly in the hallway around 1am. A bit unlucky!

Right outside of Utsunomiya station, lots of restaurants and bars all around, including my new favorite, “Lion’s Head Irish Bar” on the ground floor of Sunshine Hotel Utsunomiya. Staff were exceptionally professional and nice. Free breakfast and coffee for all guests!
