The atmosphere (next to a river in the mountains) is fantastic. We stayed in a room with a private outdoor bath that overlooks the river in absolute privacy. The onsen water quality is very good. The room was large (16 tatami) and the futons very comfortable. The area is very quiet - only the whisper of the aircon and the pump of the outdoor bath could be heard at night. Women get to pick yukatas upon check-in to suit their style and size. We paid for half-board, which included a very sumptuous kaiseki meal in a private tatami room. The food was absolutely exceptional, and included drinks such as high-end sake. Breakfast -- traditional Japanese -- was also very delicious. The hotel provided a shuttle service from and to Hineno station, making the travel experience very easy.

Nothing - everything was exceptional.

Love both indoor and outdoor Onsen. They made the bed and the room when we had our meals, talking about practicality. We took a cab from the train station, but the hotel was right nearby the bus stop, very convenient. It is a walking distance to start your wander to have a calming forest-bath (or Waldbaden, as the Germans call it)

Our personal assistant could have been more communicative, explaining what's going to happen, etc. A little introduction for the meals by a staff would have made our experience perfect, instead of just a given piece of paper.

This hotel includes an extensive dinner of many small courses in a private dining room. We were delighted with the extensive and beautiful offerings. We loved the cozy tatami room overlooking the flowing river. While we were out at dinner, our room was magically turned into a warm futons so we could sleep with the sound of the water. The onsen was lovely, with a cooler indoor soaking pool and a downstairs hotter outdoor pool (separated by gender). In the morning, we enjoyed an elaborate Japanese breakfast in a common breakfast room, but well separated from the other guests and beautifully attended by the attentive staff. More than anything, we appreciated how much they went out of the way to make us feel welcome. Two of the three members of our party were not Japanese speaking, but everyone was friendly and helpful. They clearly took the time to translate our menu into English so we could enjoy each course. Truly over and above. Want an uniquely Japanese experience that takes you away from the touristy city centres? This is the place to go.

The location was a bit remote, in the Japanese countryside. We were picked up at the train station (easy to access between the city of Osaka and the Kansai International Airport) by the daily shuttle, which was very convenient. Our flight required us to depart before the shuttle, so we had to take a taxi. There are some steep and muddy hiking trails in the area, but as it's steep and on a narrow road, it's not a great place for a gentle stroll.

All the staff were incredibly kind, and since the place wasn’t too crowded, it was perfect for enjoying the onsen at a relaxed pace. Being close to the airport also saved us travel time, allowing us to make the most of our trip. The kaiseki dinner was beautifully plated and full of care, with both the presentation and flavors being exceptional. This was my first trip with my mom, and we had such a wonderful time together. I would love to visit again in the future with my dad, mom, sibling’s family, and my husband.

It would have been even better if there were more extra towels available in the onsen area and if the checkout time was a bit later. Additionally, I wish the shuttle bus ran more frequently, perhaps twice a day.

It was very luxurious, of course you also pay for that. The staff was very friendly and helpful. You cannot go into the public bath with tattoos, but there's an option to book a private bathroom for an hour. The food was great, all traditional Japanese food. They made our bed when we were in the private bathroom.

It's very remote, at least when you come from Koyasan. It's difficult to get there. However, on the day you leave, they bring you to a station which is really helpful.

Fudoguchikan was the highlight of our Japan Holiday. We stayed here the final night before leaving from Osaka as it is quite close to the airport (though feels worlds away!) We loved experiencing traditional Japanese accommodation and hospitality. The baths were spectacular- looking out over the river and cherry blossoms. We did a walk in the woods nearby (so beautiful) - it was lovely to experience parts of Japan away from the hustle of the big cities. The service was outstanding - really can’t fault our stay here!

The food (dinner 怀石料理) was amazing ! Every small course is so interesting and delicious ! The ryokan is also very near the Inunakisan hiking route, we did the 30 min hike to the waterfall and the temple which was a really beautiful walk. Plus there is also a shuttle bus service to Izumosano which was very convenient

Nice hotel. Dinned standed out, good food of good quality!! Hot Springs were very good, we had a great time. The view was ok, it's next to a river but it's Hard to see it from The Window. The view is of trees, which is nice. The have a shuttle to the train station but only at 15.30 pm or 10.00 am (check in and check out time)

It has a semi outdoor onsen and a indoor onsen. Staff were friendly. Decorations were nice and and clean. Bus pick up and drop off service at 3:30pm and 10am at Izumisano station.

Only toilet in the room, no bathroom. Food was good but not outstanding. Bedding can be more comfortable.

Staff were great and they assigned our room very close to the river, we had a great view and the room was very comfortable.

The place is very remote, so it was hard to get to. However, hotel offer shuttle service and that made it easier.
