Severin offers a nice balance between the natural beauty of Mombassa and the modern comforts of a well managed beach resort. The buffet food was good at every meal, breakfast and dinner. The fresh local produce was expertly prepared. I appreciated the attention to healthy options including the morning glass of detox juice and the sunflower seeds, fresh yogurt and muesli. The vegetable dishes at dinner were so tasty. Every nite there were so many delicious options. The fry stations provided a wonderful selection of meats and seafood. Simple dishes including coleslaw and salads were turned into wonderful creations with seafood, fruits, avocado and nuts. I appreciated the pictorial history of the resort showing the family roots from Europe and the local Kenyan involvement. The current manager, Tuva, can be seen throughout the resort actively participating in the operations of the facility. The staff is of the highest calibre, genuinely friendly and sincerely concerned with each clients enjoyment. Around 4:00pm each day a large troop of monkeys appear in the beautiful grass and garden area between the buildings housing the guests rooms. They are so much more entertaining and cooperative than the squirrels and raccoons of Canada. The beach has many local vendors and service providers who are all respectful of the hotel guests and can provide many options to enhance your stay. I highly recommend a snorkel excursion aboard the Mullah with captain Sinbad. It was one of the most spectacular swims, with giant coral, rays, sea snakes, a wide variety of coloured fish and the largest and fastest lobster I have ever seen. Sinbad goes on the swim with the group expertly pointing out the attractions. Bring your underwater camera. The tide goes way out each day so get your swims in early and late. This is convenient avoiding the midday sun. Water shoes are helpful to explore the expanded beach area at low tide.

Some of the entrainment was fun but on a few nites it was little dull. I appreciate the wide variety of gusts, so this is understandable.

The hotel is beautiful, food delicious, staff extremely helpful and friendly. We couldn't expect more. Highly recommended

I stayed a week over New Year’s Eve with my family in this beautiful resort. Extremely welcoming staff, newly refurbished rooms, and amazing facilities. A warm acknowledgment to Tuva, the general manager, and all the staff for ensuring excellence in hotel services. A special mention also to chef Charles and its staff, who ran a 24/7 kitchen serving amazing food from all over the world. Also thanks to Masha, our hospitality assistant for making our stay comfortable. And last but not least, a big shout out to the gardeners, security and pool staff for keeping the hotel on point. It has been a memorable vacation and we look forward to coming back!

My first stay in this hotel and I must admit it was a pleasant surprise. The hotel was amazing and thoroughly enjoyed all they had to offer. The rooms/bed were comfortable, the aircon in our room was fab for Mombasa weather, the activities provided were fun and the staff could not do enough for you. I had 2 bookings to accommodate my family, and they've all had a great tym. I'm already planning my next stay as I write, lol.

I recommend paying for your meals with the booking as the A La Carte menu is limited and a bit pricey, but that's just the package that I had chosen. Having said that, it gave us an option of meals out. time, I'll be paying half board or all-inclusive. The jacuzzi signs clearly stated that no children were allowed, obviously as a safety measure and being an area for adults. One day, I used it, and it was great. However, after that, it was packed with children on multiple days, which made it impossible to use and quite disappointing. Didn't get the purpose of the signage as this was in front of all the responsible staff.

The location is right next to the beach in a beautiful setting/surroundings. There's various activities to do from water aerobics, table tennis, darts, night entertainment, and, of course, walks on the beach. One could also go on boat rides or jet skis offered. Loved everything this hotel had to offer, and my room was perfect as it faced the entertainment floor, one of the pools, and the beach (Room 407, which was classed as a bungalow). The aircon worked perfectly for Mombasa weather. The staff were amazing and could not do enough for you. I'm already planning my next visit as I write, lol.

The A La Carte is very limited although the meals offered are tasty. A bit pricey for everyday meals I would suggest booking on half board or full board, which is what I intend to do on my next visit.

This is a beautiful, relaxing, and vibrant hotel located right on the oceanfront—truly an oasis in a perfect location. We stayed in a sea-facing bungalow with a lovely view of the pool, garden, and ocean. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, featuring good beds and a nice bathroom. The buffets were excellent, especially at dinner, offering a wide variety of delicious options, including grilled lobster—a real treat! We also had the pleasure of attending the GM’s garden cocktail party, which featured a local show, and the New Year’s dinner buffet was exceptional. The evenings were lively with live bands and other entertainment, adding to the vibrant atmosphere. The beach is just a few steps away, although the tides mean swimming is only possible during specific hours—something to keep in mind. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ensuring we had a pleasant experience. Overall, it’s a wonderful place to stay, and we would highly recommend it for a relaxing and lively beach getaway!

If there’s one area for improvement, it would be that some parts of the hotel could benefit from a bit of updating, as certain areas felt a little worn. However, this also gave the hotel a rustic and cosy charm that we enjoyed.

The evening band entertainment mainly caters to music for the overseas audience, little to no East African or African vibes music The tour company stationed at the hotel gave us a miserable tour to Mombasa town and fort jesus with a really old car, with no Air conditioning in that hot weather and dusty roads due to the roads construction going on. we had to cut on the activities and only go to the town because we wea suffocating from the heat and the car felt like it was almost breaking down.

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel! The food was excellent with plenty of variety, and the service was outstanding. The staff quickly resolved issues, like fixing the air conditioning. The vibe was good and silent. different types of entertainments at nights.

entertainments during day. My suggestion would be to request extra towels. However, be cautious with the taxis in front of the hotel as the city tour they arranged was not exciting and quite boring. (I'm not talking about excursion office, the taxis arranged the city tpur for us) gym and massage center are at the same place. Overall, I highly recommend the hotel but suggest exploring other options for tours ( maybe excursion office has better options)

This is our third stay at Severin Sea Lodge. We stayed for 10 nights in a comfort bungalow, which is definitely worth the small price for the upgrade. We now consider Severin as our home away from home. The service is impeccable, everyone is very friendly. The facilities are spotlessly clean, and I’m a very picky traveler. We had only one minor issue with the room safe not working properly, but they immediately arrived and replaced it. The food choices are great. The pool and surrounding areas are fabulous. I could go on and on, but I highly recommend this resort.

Lovely ocean views. Feels like a typical island style holiday. Breakfast was fantastic overlooking the ocean. Two pools and loungers everywhere. Aircon in room which was a life saver in 35C with extreme humidity. Was upgraded as well. Staff very helpful. Mosquito net around bed. Enough plug points around the room and water provided in the room every day. Various restaurant options and they were all great.

The hot water wasn’t hot at all. It was fine because it was very hot outside but could be a problem in cooler months. Mosquitos everywhere but that was to be expected. The locals trying to make money off tourists at the beach, wouldn’t take no for an answer.
