We booked an Art Deluxe Room but were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade to a stunning Riverside Suite. The view of the river was breathtaking, especially at sunrise, and the room itself was spacious, beautifully designed, and spotlessly clean. Every detail was thought through — from the comfortable bed and high-quality linens to the little touches that made us feel truly cared for. The staff were warm, professional, and genuinely attentive, going above and beyond to make our short stay unforgettable. Even though we could only stay for one night, it was one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had. The peaceful atmosphere, amazing location, and exceptional service make this place a true gem. We left feeling relaxed, grateful, and already planning our return. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Luang Prabang — you won’t be disappointed!

That we could only stay one night — would have loved to enjoy the Riverside Suite longer!

The Namkham Hotel is a super quiet and relaxing oasis along a river with a nice view and beautifully decorated houses. It is quite big but it still seems very relaxing because there are many hidden spots like little yoga retreats and little pools, play areas for kids, a beach, fire place, gym, organic gardens etc. But everything is open and seems to flow with nature. I must say it has a spiritual sense. The breakfast and restaurant itself has a very good quality and the staff members are extremely friendly and try to do whatever they can to make the guests happy. We must thank the Hotel Manager Carl. He is always available to give recommendations and help with tours. The hotel offers a shuttle bus into the city which is very helpful because it's a bit far from the city centre. We enjoyed our stay a lot and would definitely recommend it.

We stayed at this retreat to celebrate a birthday and had a really enjoyable experience overall. The property is well-maintained, with a nice pool, friendly staff, and well-presented food. The team even went out of their way to make a birthday cake and sing Happy Birthday, which was a really thoughtful touch. The manager, Carl (from New Zealand), stood out. He was approachable, helpful, and gave us some great advice for our next stop in Vietnam. One of the convenient features is the hotel’s app, which lets you request transport, order food or drinks, and message the front desk. Everything is charged to a tab that you pay at checkout, which works well, though it would be useful to be able to track your expenses through the app during the stay. They do offer gluten-free bread, which was appreciated, but this isn’t mentioned online. It would be helpful if the menu had clearer allergen labelling, especially for gluten, as nothing was marked and it meant having to ask staff regularly who had little knowledge. Overall, a great spot with strong service and a few areas that could be improved to make things even smoother. We’d be happy to come back.

Incredible hospitality from Carl and his team of beautiful humans. The small touches went a long way, turn down service, the little gifts left each night on my bed, how they top up your water frequently at the pool. I was SOOOOOO glad I stayed out of town- Luang Prabang town is beautiful but noisy and this place was pure peace. The breakfast (unlimited a la carte) was outstanding. The coconut crepes were delicious, they even let me take coffee/smoothies away when I had an early tour. This is a minor detail but it melted my heart the way they folded and pressed my socks! Into perfect origami cubes :) free yoga, sauna, ice baths. Watching the locals just across the river was fascinating. My favourite thing about the resort is its heart- they put great effort into supporting local blood drives, they have 16 (well trained, vaccinated, friendly) dogs on site, they help fund emergency surgery’s for locals. It’s a complete oasis and I would love to come back xxxx

The tour prices are expensive, as was airport transfers.

This small luxury hotel is incredible. Not only is the setting picturesque, but the staff are super friendly, know your name and would do anything to make your stay memorable. As it was my birthday, they went out of their way to provide me with a birthday cake and Karaoke on the Sunset cruise that we had booked, which they normally don’t do. After getting off the shuttle, we were whisked off to our wonderfully roomy accommodation by golf cart. These guys have thought of everything! We very much enjoyed lazing in the huts by the river which were equipped with lounging mattresses and took great delight in having a dip in both the big pool as well as the smaller one near the spa. We were gifted a beautifully handmade notebook each-a lovely surprise. Additionally, this hotel supports various charitable endeavours, thus supporting the community. Their eco-friendly philosophy is observed throughout the lodge, which is admirable. We found wandering through their organic farm interesting and the QR codes attached to plants, informative. We were impressed with the fact that the general manager took time out of his busy day to personally introduce himself and answer any questions. Overall, this was a magnificent stay and we would highly recommend it to anyone who is considering staying here. We certainly intend returning to enjoy this piece of paradise.

AMAZING is probably the best word that can describe our 3 nights stay at “THE NAMKHAN” eco-resort retreat, situated on the banks of the Namkhan River. From we arrived, the personal touch, and care was felt, and the staff did their best in order to make us feel special, and welcome at all times - often greeted by our names in restaurant and bar, which make us feel even more wanted and special as guests Had the most amazing food served in their cozy restaurant, overlooking the river, breakfast buffet, lunch and dinner was so tasty, and well cooked, with lots of flavors, fresh herbs and vegetables from their own organic farm, were you can even join, and cook your own meal after picking your vegetables on site, next to the restaurant - lots to choose from on the menu, and we especially loved the Lao local food and taste, from the menu card - you must also try one of the wonderful drinks, when happy hour in Bar & Restaurant - served with crispy cashew nuts and local roasted peanuts - always a good start Lots of activities, yoga, spa, pool, games, “beach” and sports and gym - but in a relaxed and cozy vibe - no stress, just relax and feel good - loved pool area and facilities in that area with towels and cozy bar, free cooled water served at your sun bed - what’s not to like 15 minutes drive from hotel, you find Luang Prabang city, where you should go for a boat ride on the mighty Mekong River, reception can arrange a tour for you, or just use the APP linked to reception for booking your activities 6 times a day - free shuttle to/from city center You will find a small shop in the reception, with local products made by selected local women and projects - we loved the engagement in supporting the local community - and we will cherish our new breadbaskets We can truly understand why THE NAMKHAN is a proud member of “Small Luxury Hotels of the World” - Rooms well equipped and nicely designed and decorated for maximum comfort and wellbeing Thank you Carl, and...

Was to short stay - would happily have stayed much longer

My explorer tent was comfortable, cosy, well kitted out with everything I needed and the bathroom wax lovely. Lovely restaurant with great dinner options and a delicious breakfast, and loved the pool area and bar. Beach area also nice to chill out! Lots of activities on offer including a shuttle to town, but I just enjoyed the peace and spent all my time in the hotel grounds. Highlight though was the staff - everyone was so welcoming and friendly, they all knew my name and tent by the first morning and I felt like a member of the Namkhan family! Carl and his team do an amazing job of running this wonderful retreat.

Nothing!

Well managed resort, where employees at the reception, pool or restaurant seem to know you by name. Not sure how they do this, because we don't carry badges or post our photo somewhere. Very spacious accommodation with view on river and romantic and comfortable sleeping in tent with airco. Cosy warm LED lighting at night. Quiet at nights with only sounds of animals and no music, bars or traffic. Facilities are clean and of good quality. Free access to sauna and free use of mountain bikes. Very good breakfast and dinner with high quality organic food in restaurant with view on the river and very friendly and welcoming staff. Free shuttle to the center of Luang Prabang. We discovered this place by coincidence on a bike tour while staying at an other hotel and extended our stay in Luang Prabang to stay here. In hindsight, we would have preferred to stay here more nights if we had discovered it earlier.

As can be expected from a remote location the prices are relatively high ($65 for dinner), especially since they add additional charges for tax (10%), service(10%), credit card (3%), and an optional tip. We were invited for a happy hour with one free drink for every one ordered but noted that both drinks were charged. When we complained about this they said that the free second drink did not apply to our fruit juices, only to alcoholic cocktails. Apparently they 'Eco' connotation to their positioning does not necessarily imply that they always promote the healthy choices.

The hotel was amazing! It's a little bit out of Luang Prabang but they do a free shuttle service and it is so worth it. The staff are super friendly, helpful and kind, from the top management to the front desk staff, restaurant and drivers! The room itself was spacious, clean and comfortable. The Hotel has amazing views and things to do like cycling, playing chess, table tennis, hiking and even has a farm where they grow their own vegetables. It is a hotel surrounded by nature. I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

Our stay at The Nam Khan Resort was absolutely amazing from the moment we checked in until the end of our visit. We spent three wonderful nights there, and everything exceeded our expectations. The room had an incredible view, was spotlessly clean, and we adored the refreshing lemongrass scent throughout. The soothing sound of the river flowing nearby made it a true retreat for us. We enjoyed a massage by the pool since the spa and wellness centre was under renovation, but it was still a relaxing and delightful experience. The in-room dining was excellent, and the staff was extraordinarily friendly, helpful, and attentive—truly some of the best hospitality we've encountered! We were so impressed with their organic vegetable garden and the way they grow fresh produce to serve their guests. As someone who also makes and runs a soap and skincare business in Australia, I was thrilled to see they create their own natural shampoo and shower gel. It made me so proud of Laos and The Nam Khan Resort for this sustainable and thoughtful touch. There were plenty of activities to enjoy at the resort, and we hardly felt the need to leave. Although the weather was a bit cool for swimming, and the sauna was still under renovation, we had such a great time relaxing and exploring the premises. Overall, we are incredibly grateful to the Nam Khan team for taking such wonderful care of us and making our stay unforgettable. We will definitely return the next time we're in Laos! Warm regards, Susen & Steve

The pillows were too soft, so we requested a firmer one, which is still not firm enough, but that's no big deal! :)
