Lovely place to stay right by the morning market, 3 min walk to the night market and a stroll away from great restaurants and bars. Andy was so accommodating, even upgraded us to a bigger room at no extra cost and was so helpful with recommendations on restaurants etc to go to.highly recommend …

It was everything the reviews mentioned - very well located (5-10 mins from pretty much all the cool stuff), clean, comfortable, tastefully designed, enjoyable to stay in. A lot of effort obviously went in to create a great experience. I'll mention something no one else has - the fan. The ceiling fan is extremely beautiful. The host Andy is friendly and very helpful - in addition he even went out of his way on his work day to surprise me on my birthday with lunch at a very classy nearby restaurant. What else could a traveler possibly want. Bonus: there's a Very cute cat who hangs out in the garden sometimes.

I had to leave, that sucked.

Great night’s sleep. The bed was very comfortable and the shutters were very effective at keeping out light and sound from the morning market. The fan was good for keeping air circulating so we didn’t need the AC. Great location with the morning market right in front — easy place to find breakfast. Also close to the night market and to the major sites of the old town. The room was made up perfectly every day. Andy, the proprietor, made people feel at home and was a great help in arranging transportation and supplying information.

A very small thing but it would have been nice to have shampoo in the shower, but I recognize that might also bump up costs a bit.

Mali house was very central to most things in Luang Prabang, with the morning market right outside the front door. The room was small but was enough room for just two people and the shower was great - good water pressure and hot water; a luxury in most of Laos. The coffee shop owned by Andy and Venus made the best coffee we had in Luang Prabang (not included with the room but well worth the price). We loved making use of our balcony in the afternoon and evenings and for being right in the morning market, the noise was reasonably blocked out by the shutters.

The owner is very kind and helpful for me. Air conditioning works well (below 23℃ requires additional cost.). He treated me a cup of Laos style coffee and arranged a transportation to the airport. The driver is very polite and the vehicle is comfortable. The location is very good especially when you stroll around morning and night markets. We can refill purified water on the first floor.

Something was wrong with the toilet. I stayed on the second floor and toilet didn’t flush because of the shortage of water. So I had to refill water with shower.

Cute and comfortable with a great location and a very helpful host. Andy made sure we knew the tastiest places to eat, the banks with the best exchange rates, and the excursions most worth our time. He helped us arrange a motorbike with helmets, facilitated our laundry getting cleaned, and even gave us a loan when we ran out of kip. Nowhere have we received better insider advice than from Mail House.

We really can’t complain as the value for money was exceptional. In order to have privacy in the room, wooden shutters must be closed, and this will block out all natural light, but it’s cozy and dark for sleeping, and when you don’t need total privacy, the large windows and glass door are lovely and let in the sun.

I had an absolutely superb stay at Mali House which is perfectly located for a stay in Luang Prabang. The lovely owners clearly put their hearts and souls into Mali House and the care of their guests and have gone above and beyond from the point of booking to my departure. Thank you so much for your care, knowledge and help before and during my visit.

Beautiful house, traditional style, well maintained, great location at the morning market and (right next to) the night market. We had a nice and quiet room in the back, probably the smallest room of the house (which was fine enough for us), with a tiny balcony. When peeking inside some other rooms they were all more spacious and even more beautiful, so you really can’t go wrong in Mali House. We loved our hot shower.

Since we are both quite tall, we found the raised bed edge at the foot end a bit uncomfortable (but manageable).

Our room faced directly onto the morning market but you wouldn’t know it until you opened the doors to a lovely little courtyard. Room was clean, cooling systems good, hot water fine. Staff are very accommodating, with host Andy giving us a few IT tips.

It’s a.minor issue but the room was quite compact and although there is shelving, we’d have liked a bit more floor space.

Organized room, fresh linens, perfect blind door/windows, hot shower and great coffee tea every morning. Andy and other staff are very friendly and let me know the tips to enjoy the locals. That's why the atmosphere is awesome among guests. For me, eye mask or ear plugs are NOT needed even though the morning market(around 5am-11am) is in front of the property! And also air conditioner(made in Japan) is no needed too in the end of Nov. You're lucky. You should definitely stay if there's availability.
