This 'hotel' is located in a building from the earlier French administration period and is part of the official "heritage conservation area". The uniqueness of its design is that it has effectively a verandah surrounding its downstairs rooms - this keeps the room pleasantly cool even at 37+ degrees C outside temperature (so effective was this old French design that we did not need to use the air-con at night to sleep comfortably). The "Residence & Travel" is listed as a 4-star premise but we would suggest that you should actually treat it as a very pleasant provincial hotel situated in the centre of Laung Prabang, being ideally located for all the local attractions. The 'hotel' manager (Tom) is the king-pin of what this Residence provides for its guests - Tom arranged our Mekong River cruise and our transportation back to the train station (some 25 minutes drive away) for our departure - flawless arrangements, efficiently organised. Our room was very large and adequately furnished - housekeeping was efficient and effective. We had a key operated safety box in our room. Tom also masterminded our breakfasts each day - breakfast is taken in the garden in front of the Residence, with 12 options available and cooked to order (covering both Asian and Western tastes). Breakfast was a very pleasant and calm way to start our day. Our 3-night stay was comfortable, very pleasant and memorable - well done, Tom - many thanks for all you did for us!!

The service was exceptional. The reception staff was very helpful in booking us last minute train tickets to Vientiane. They also offered a refreshing welcome drink. The room was very spacious, big and sparkling clean. Also the location was amazing. It was just around the corner from the night market and hot spots in Luang Prabang.

The toilets often got clogged. However this was instantly fixed by the service staff when we told them!

I loved the huge, spacious bedroom, and, the large bathroom which contained the largest shower stall I've ever seen, very comfortable and luxurious, to have so much space. Also, the furniture was all in dark wood, and the floor of the room was polished wood, very appealing. The manager, Tom, was especially helpful and kind.

Being able to walk to the night market and the boat cruise added to the convenience and overall charm of the stay. Great location - morning market & night market are right in front of the hotel. Friendly staff, especially Toom who helped us to call Tuk Tuk, book tour, etc. The rooms are also very big and clean.

It is not easy to find the hotel as the street in front of the hotel is the walking street, so the taxi cannot go in there. It is best to tell the taxi to drop off at Wat May Souvannapoumaram, and walk from there (about 2 mins walk).

Rooms are spacious and the air conditioning works really well. The location is fantastic! Tom is so personable and helpful. Breakfast in the garden is lovely and there is an interesting vegetable market every morning right outside the property. Everything was lovely!

Very nice place to stay in Luang Prabang! Walking distance to main attractions, no need for tuk tuk. National museum, Wat Phousi hill is just around the corner, I also walked to Wat Xiengthong temple. Many nice cafes around, and I just enjoyed walking around at night when all restaurants and night market are opening up. I like how close everything is. The guy at reception is very sweet. He booked for me Kuang Si waterfalls tour and airport transfer as well. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to all travelers visiting Luang Prabang.
