We liked the location at the beach ( + we had booked ocean view - adds to price of course ), the food at the restaurant was good, staff helpful ( for example called the ferry a day ahead to let them know we need the ride ), room spacious enough, bathroom ok, hot water and clean tiles, that's all we expect. AC worked very well. We got 2 bottles of water every day and you there's a drink water refill at the restaurant. The jetty allows to take a water taxi to other places and at a booth right next to the restaurant you can rent snorkeling gear or book different tours. After our initial impression that we're pretty much "trapped" at the resort and the only way to get around is water taxi we found that you can very well walk to Turtle Beach, to the Perenthian island resort or even go on the jungle track to Flora beach on the other side of the island, just have to "find" the paths.

No good beach at the hotel, very flat water and all corals, not walkable - you'll have to go to PIR No wine at the restaurant, beer ( Carlsberg ) was available. More basic information could be given in writing, for example about water refill, availability of beach towels or the walk ways around the resort.

Nice view from the restaurant, nice staffs, had fun feeding squirrels ... enjoyed snorkeling trip especially at the sharks point ... luckily no rain during our snorkeling trip..

i got the unit at the back terrace facing exactly at other unit aircond compressor.. haha ... anyway it's not my luck that day i think plus raining the whole day ... will come again hopefully not raining season & hope for better view from the room.. our belongings & from our top to toe got wet while waiting for our boat to Besut on the jetty... it's heavy rain & strong wind... please sell at least disposable raincoat for this situation.. tq

It was very close to the beach. Food was good from the restaurant although a little expensive - but that is to be expected. The room was clean, the beds were very comfortable. Overall it was a good vacation. Thanks Barat !

The longggg jetty to the hotel was on floats and therefore, very unstable. Saw an elderly lady falling down. It is very difficult to walk on especially when you are pushing luggage. The hose under the bathroom sink was leaking water. Should have informed reception but was just too busy to do it.

The newer set of rooms are nice and big. Very convenient, with lots of open cupboard space, to hang beach stuff to dry. You can’t really swim in front of the hotel, but walking distance there is a nice beach.

It’s probably worth looking for a voucher that includes meals etc.

There is a small room. You have a bed, an air conditioner, a fan, a hairdryer, and a toilet with a shower. It’s a little bit dark in the room, because your window is covered and closed. It’s really clean. Staff clean everyday and give you bottles of water. You have towels and body&hair shower. There is the tastiest food in this resort. There is a diving centre, snorkelling centre near your house. And also has a boat taxi.

There is the tastiest food in this resort, but it’s more expensive than the neighbouring resort. It takes additional 16% tax and services. And we wanna take vouchers for meal sets, however staff said we should make order through menu without vouchers.

Nice and shaded. Facilities on site as well as close to other options. Great snorkelling nearby. Room was clean and comfortable apart from smell in bathroom. Nice to be able to enjoy a cold beer at the restaurant by the water in the evenings.

Food was mediocre and a bit expensive for the quality and quantity. Other eateries close by. Room had an unpleasant sewerage smell coming from the bathroom, especially bad after being closed up while we were out.

Very friendly staff, the sea facing chalets were perfect for family group and 2 units were good to fit our party of 7 people. The restaurant on the property catered to all the meals easily and the dinner BBQ was definitely a family favorite. Also very easy to organise activities such as diving and snorkelling, water taxis etc from the property.

Because of the rating, we didn't expect too much, but we had a great stay! Don't keep your standards too high and you'll have a great time here. The beds are clean, the food is great and the showers are warm. Of course, it's relatively expensive (and a bit out dated) but that's the island. Our shower had a leakage and they fixed it directly, good service! It's at the beach and a great spot for snorkeling, however not very suitable for swimming with kids. A five minute walk will give you a sandy beach. Also many restaurants are near the Barat. I would definitely recommend this place, as long as you don't expect a superdeluxe resort.

Staff. Food was decent (we never felt the need to go elsewhere). Tap outside room was useful being as though everywhere is sand. Room cleaned every day and restocked water. Nice size resort - smaller would be boring; bigger would take away the charm. Amazing fruit bats reside there - awesome to watch every dusk. Convenient sized bathroom. Good variation of dive sites. Dive team are great!! We LOVED Neville.

No point in having a terrace - we used it for storage and drying because the mosquitoes were EVERYWHERE. It was small and battered and there were only 2 chairs for a 4-person room; plus there was no view - you looked straight at the bungalow terrace of next door. The beach was full of coral pieces (ouch!) - walk 5-10 minutes further and it’s nicer. The jetty boardwalk is underwater at high tide, which meant it was fun to watch people arriving in their shoes and long trousers with their luggage; especially as no one helps you with it. If they then removed their shoes they of course got the aforementioned coral in their feet. Small room for 4 people including bags.

The check-in was smooth and easy. We arrived early but they allowed us to enter the room before official check-in time. The room was tidy, the beds were comfy. Everything you need like restaurant, snorkel tours, boat taxi and more is just 1min walk away. The staff were friendly too! Food was delicious with very reasonable price for a resort. The BBQ for dinner provides various fresh options and the seasoning was on point as well. Overall, my experience with The Barat was much more pleasant than I've expected, it is totally worth the money. P.S. My favorite beach is the Turtle Beach, much recommended!

The bathroom could've been a tad more spacious.
