- Very clean, staff is constantly cleaning all areas - Great pool / beach, with a lot of sunbeds and breathtaking views - very friendly staff - Next to the mangrove tour which we recommend - Amazing big room with nice smart tv and movies - Great breakfast with a lot of options - Good pizza at the sportsbar, and good cocktails with happy hour from 17h-20h (cocktails 19.5RM each at happy hour) - Very peaceful and beautiful place

- They offer a transfer to the airport at 65RM, we took a grab for 22RM, so the transfer is way overpriced - Food and drinks are overpriced at around 3-4x the price of the rest of the island (20RM/4 euro for a Coca Cola is just way too much). The quality of the food at the Sands restaurant is also lacking. We had a burger that had salad that looked at least 2 days old. The menus at the different bars/restaurants are also very inconsistent. One day we had a fruit punch which was billed as non-happy hour, while the next day at the same hour/place it was billed under happy hour after we asked about it. - A bit isolated, but you can always take a grab into town

We had a fantastic week at the resort. Weather was favorable for all the activities we planned: mangrove forest cruise, jet ski, ATV, hike to the waterfall, sky bridge and cable car, and cultural experience in the town and surrounding area. We enjoyed the complementary yoga one evening as well. The hotel staff is very welcoming and accommodating. The facilities were very nice, though we spent more time in the sea, rather than pool. The food had a good variety and various restaurants within premises had all the options we needed, from very relaxing pool side bar to a fine dining restaurant (food was excellent).

The scenery was amazing and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Although for us the remote location was great you probably wouldn't want to stay for more than a week without transportation.

Very nice location at a white beach with sunset views. The resort is spacious and feels like a big park - well maintained with lots of ponds and flowers. The area is quite rural so you can enjoy some wildlife (colorful birds, monkeys, lizards) within the resort. Staff is very nice and resort comes with all typical amenities and services. Breakfast buffet is a wide range of continental and local food so everyone will find sth he/she likes.

Rooms are a bit run down but still very spacious and well furnished. Food (particularly the Asian cuisine) is a bit disappointing for the price - we prefered to take a taxi to get sone more authentic local food in the towns nearby.

Not everyones idea of a holiday but we like to find tranquility away from people and surrounded by nature but with reasonable accessibility to explore the local culture. South East Asia is a favourite of ours but there are less and less places that are not now touched by sprawling tourism and its noise and concrete pollution. Lankawi is one of the last, easily accessible islands that is preserving its natural habitat while providing for visitors. The South of the Island is busy but the excellent Tanjung Rhu Resort, in the North, sits in the middle of what I consider to be the best beach on the island with the best landscape. Not only that, but the resort is right next to the extensive Kilim Geopark, a Unesco site and one of the best attractions of Langkawi. Even when full, the acreage of the resort means Tanjung Rhu never feels busy and, particularly on the adults only side, is always extremely peaceful. The pools are large and even the family pool is uncrowded as it spills out onto the beach and into the jellyfish free Andaman Sea. The breakfast choice is extensive and good quality and certainly set us up for the day. A choice of restaurants onsite or within a short taxi ride means you will never be tied to the resorts offering although, by choice, we enjoyed the evening room service more as we extended our stay to two weeks. The staff are friendly, respectful and always smiling, not unusual for this part of the world. A special thank you to Noor, one of the management, who looked after us excellently during our stay.

It is easy to pick holes in any establishment but in the case of Tanjung Rhu Resort, any issues, such as a broken telephone and TV in the room (both quickly replaced when reported), a coffee machine constantly breaking down at breakfast and other tiny flaws, pale into insignificance against the extensive assets and experiences the resort delivers.

The hotel is set in a lovely bay. 2 fabulous pools, one is adults only. Plenty of sunbeds, towels and umbrellas around pool and on the beach, Our suite was exceptional, we had 2 balconies, jars of nibbles, a nespresso coffee machine, a kettle and a fridge, plus plenty of filtered water. The bathroom was very large and well equipped with toiletries, with a separate toilet and shower and a bath with bath salts and petals. We could open up the shutters to have a view of the sea from the bath. Slippers, robes, and very comfy flip flops are available too. Every member of staff was amazing, from the gardener to the chief executive. Always smiling and helpful. Breakfast was great with a wide selection and even a glass or 2 of bubbles if you fancy. The BBQ dinner was fabulous and well worth the money. It is a phenomenal selection of hot and cold food and plenty of bubbles. If you want to eat outside the hotel at all there are a number of restaurants a short distance away, we had a scooter so this was easy for us. Grabs are available but understand they can be difficult to get due to the short journey. Be aware that the restaurants outside the hotel do not sell alcohol (with the exception of 1, Scarborough fish and chips). All in all an outstanding hotel with outstanding staff.

Some areas of the hotel are a little tired and are in the process of being smartened up, though none of this affected our stay at all. Service in the Sands restaurant for dinner could be a little hit and miss, sometimes rather slow or difficult to be understood, other times perfect.

Beach and Pool was excellent. We managed to spend a quality time in the resort. Pool table and Dart are complementary to us and we enjoy it very much.

Breakfast was good, unfortunately not much options for vegetarian as my partner is vegatarian (no garlid, no onion and no spring onions). The chef did fried noodle for him but it was too salty! We also have fine dining at the Chef Restaurant on the first night of arrival, however the food was not meet to our expectation and the spaghetti that I ordered too salty!

So in the beginning I arrived quite early but the room wasn't ready however I was informed that I will be getting a room upgrade due to not enough rooms from the ones I booked, I had a bit late check in but the Senior Front Office Assistant Manager Hakimin Hamidon, have sent a sparkling wine to our room as an apology and that was a nice kind gesture 🙏🏻 The next day our flight got delayed and I wanted to extend my check out time which is usually with at a fees , however they were generous enough to have the late check out free of charge for us as a complimentary extension and as a consideration of our delayed flight!l. This has made our day ! and made us forget about the late check-in and made our stay exceptional and relaxing. Thank you so much to the kind staff and managers!

Lovely resort at Tanjung Rhu beach. The resort is beautifully landscaped and quite relaxing away from the hustle bustle of the city. The rooms are spacious and have all the necessary facilities required. Excellent staff - nothing is too much for them. The wildlife and birds are a treat. Really enjoyed our stay.

It’s the finer details that let it down. The rooms are big but tired, in need of renovation. The equipment like the ironing board and hair dryer is from the 80’s! There was dust on the bathroom cabinets. The biggest disappointment however was the beach; so much dead wood, plastic and rubbish collected end of day that it’s impossible to go for a swim.

Customer Service and people providing it are Top Notch - from Managers, to folks cleaning your rooms to gardeners. The resort is beautiful and rooms are big - you feel like being at home, vs cramped in 4 walls. The beach is very private and there no crowds - sometimes you feel like you are the only ones on the beach. Both pools (adult and children's) are large and clean. Restaurants have good food and are not outrageously expensive (taking into account US Currency rates). Bonus points - there is a local food place about 300 meters from the resort (walking on the beach) and you can get excellent local food there at a ridiculously low price.
