We had a really enjoyable week long stay here at the Villas. Our room was one of the smaller ones but we still had a small deck to sit outside and it was roomy enough. We utilized the pools almost every afternoon and liked the overall vibe of the place - quiet and relaxed. One Saturday night was more crowded and a bit noise, but no big deal. They serve a pretty hearty breakfast, more choices on the weekend, but we only ate breakfast about half the time. AC worked well. Hot water worked well but was more limited on the weekend. The location is quiet, but it’s on the far west side of town. We did a lot of walking the week that we were there, and realized that if we come again we will aim to be closer to the center or the east side of town. There are some great restaurants within a few blocks of Villas, so that was also nice.

The breakfast was very well cooked although we were disappointed because the first morning we received cereal, fruits and yoghurt as one would expect for a normal hotel breakfast but not for the remaining 3 mornings - the only option was bacon, eggs & toast. The location was very good and especially convenient to the bus route into Ajijic central. We really liked the swimming pools which were especially relaxing after returning from a long hot day of walking in the heat, and the gardens were beautiful.

Really only the breakfast issue and the bath was not as clean as it could have been.

The hotel had a lovely garden area to enjoy, including two pools and a view of the lake and surrounding mountains. The room was spacious , and the shower had nice water pressure and plenty of hot water. The breakfast was really delicious and the staff was friendly. We really enjoyed our stay. We would also suggest eating at Casa Linda, which is just a couple blocks away.

It was really hard to get a ride into town when we checked out with our luggage. The cobblestone streets are too hard to pull luggage on to catch a local bus a block away. We tried Uber without success, and the hotel ordered a taxi, but the wait time was so long that we ended up catching a ride with a local.

Location was excellent for our visit with family nearby. Lake walk area was about 20 minute walk or bus ride. Bus is right up the street. Atmosphere was really charming with beautiful gardens and right off the lake. Pools were clean and refreshing. Breakfast staff were friendly and helpful, though we had to use a translate app to communicate. Shower was excellent!

The sliding door to our room didn’t close fully so I had to stuff rags in it to keep the bugs out and the door from rattling during the night!

The included breakfast was wonderful as well as the ladies/staff that provided it. All the staff at Hotel Villas Ajijic are wonderful, cheery and always greeting you with a smile. The location set on Lake Chapal was perfect but within walking distance to bodegas, restaurants and entertainment. I decided to rent an E-Bike and that made my stay more enjoyable. Ajijic has a walking/bike path which brings you through the center of town to Chapala and in the other direction for miles as well. I would ride to the Walmart and strap purchases to the back of the bike. I found an excellent Taco truck and a restaurant to give me a break from the tacos I became addicted to.

Not that it could be better, although adding to the ambiance to the charming Ajijic, all the side roads are constructed with uneven stones which makes for a bumpy ride. From the areas I saw that is all over Ajijic.

The breakfast was, I imagine, a typical Mexican breakfast. They were very helpful to get me something I could chew easily because I had dental work done. I liked the family atmosphere of the hotel. Just would have liked to have someone on staff speak English. It was a bit of a challenge.

None of the signs were in English.

The hotel is located in a quiet area, away from the city noise. There are 2 good restaurants one block from the hotel. A plentiful breakfast is served starting at 8:30 am - yogurt, granola, eggs with bacon and sausages, coffee, juice.

Rooms close to the reception require renovation. Room #3 doesn't have a window, it shouldn't be offered to travellers, it feels like a closet.

The gardens and pools are so beautiful and relaxing. My sister and I loved the laid-back atmosphere. It’s great for families with kids too.

Our room and bath were pretty basic. In the bath there was no place to hang anything or put toiletries while bathing. Somewhat inconvenient.

This hotel was a nice surprise! The building looks like a converted apartment complex on beautifully maintained gardens giving their guest the feeling they are in an apartment and not a hotel. The property is on the lake and there is a covered terrace with tables, chairs and a BBQ should one want to have a private party. The location is super quite making it very easy to sleep and only 1 kilometer from the city center so a vehicle unnecessary.

The shower. The shower head was clogged from calcium deposits, I cleaned that easily enough but the real disappointment was the supply of hot water! If your showers are more than about 7 minutes the water will turn cold :( If you are a couple staying here and expecting to take showers prior to an evening out well...thats not going to happen comfortably :(

The grounds, landscaping, patio and lake view made a relaxing comfortable stay. Close to the center of Ajijic for coffee, shopping and restaurants. Included parking for our rental car. Staff and guest were very friendly.
