Location excellent, 2-3 minutes walk to Akumal beach. Free parking which was useful as otherwise you have to pay to park near the beach. Close to the dive centre where we arranged snorkelling and could get the first trip of the day (we left at 8.15 and saw about 10 turtles and a ray). Big room with AC and free water in a cooler so not generating lots of empty bottles. Very big swimming pool for guests which was usually quiet.

The bungalow was showing its age with a few crumbling features and a funky colour scheme. The safe didn't work. It's a bit overpriced for what it is, which is mostly about the location. Breakfast wasn't included which I would have expected for the price. The on-site restaurant/cafe where you can get breakfast is expensive for ok food (though so is everywhere in Akumal).

The location is perfect as it's right on Akumal Beach which is a great beach for swimming and snorkelling. The beach lounges are very comfortable and we were able to secure a great spot under a palapa right on the beach everyday and they are spaced well apart from each other. The breakfasts at Lol Ha were very good and we enjoyed many lunches at the main restaurant there as well. Our room was cleaned everyday by Manuelito and he did a great job. Manuel at the front desk was extremely helpful in arranging all our transportation to and from the airport and to the hotel we moved to in Tulum. We've been to Akumal several times before and usually stayed in condos, but since there was just the two of us, Hotel Akumal Caribe suited our needs.

We both like to read at night, but there was only one bedside lamp, but it was not a big deal. Also, it would be nice to have somewhere to hang wet bathing suits and towels out on the balcony besides draping them over the chairs.

The location is wonderful right on the beach. The hotel is small and easy to get to dive shop , neighboring restaurant and beach without walking along miles of corridors like the big resorts. There were other restaurants to sample in walking distance and a very short taxi ride away if you are not a walker. The hotel is quiet and if evening entertainment is what you want then this is not the place for you .Staff were all friendly and the house keepers keep the rooms and common areas very clean despite being right on the beach.

We are divers and would have liked a solid couple of hooks at the far end of the shower to hang our wetsuits and regulators. As commented by others there were a very large number of snorkeling tours on the beach which took a little bit of the ambiance away .

This is our fourth stay here. Our rooms arei always very comfortable. The beds are the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. The breakfasts were delicious. The scenery as we ate every morning was of the bay and boats and swimmers. The rooms are always cleaned spotlessly. The staff is warm and friendly, and always very professional. Our rooms were steps away from the beautiful beach where every morning our camastros were set up under our favorite palapa. Our favorite palapa was so close to our rooms that it was quick and easy to return to our rooms to get more drinks or to use the restroom. We love this hotel and it’s beautiful location!

Nothing could have been better. We had a perfect week!

The beach at this property is absolutely stunning, offering the perfect spot to enjoy both breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. If your stay includes breakfast, be mindful that you may need to keep track of the number of items in your order to stay within the limits set by the provided coupons. On the bright side, the property serves delicious traditional Mexican cuisine, which you can savor while taking in the spectacular views of the Caribbean. The employees are exceptionally kind and hardworking, ensuring that everything is taken care of the moment you mention it. Truly an amazing experience!

As a drawback, the limits on the breakfast coupons could be increased to provide more flexibility for guests. Additionally, the rooms suffer from noticeable humidity, and even if you feel cold, turning off the air conditioning is not advisable, as the humidity can lead to unpleasant conditions like a musty odor. Another inconvenience is that the main entrance is not open at all times, so if you return to the property late, you may need to wait for someone to let you in. These issues, while manageable, could detract slightly from the overall experience.

Hotel is beach front and secure. Attendants were waiting for us when we checked in much later than we expected due to travel delays. Filtered water was provided along with wifi. Close proximity to snorkeling and good food.

The bed was broken with noticeable depression on one side like someone very large or heavy damaged it (not necessarily something the hotel could help...). Very touristy area. Tried to stay away from Cancun with more people and all-inclusive experiences but Akumal was still more touristy than expected which people will either like or dislike depending on what you're looking for.

We usually don't go back to the same place twice as we want to explore new places. But Akumal Caribe is such a great place for us that we did come back. We love that it is right on the beach, the size of the pool is perfect for our kids, the beach area is so peaceful - being surrounded by palm trees. Having breakfast with sea view and having different restaurants walking distance is a big plus.

The little cabana we stayed in is pretty basic, but the rest of the hotel (pool, being right on the beach etc) compensates for that.

Love the rustic charm of this place compared to the big, newer resorts. Love that it’s so much the same as I remember 30+ years ago, and although a little worn around the edges, it is quiet and in my opinion exceptional. The staff is wonderful! Even though there are many people that come from all around to snorkel in Akumal Bay, it’s possible to wander down the beach for a little more quiet. Sadly, though, the bay has suffered from too much love and hopefully the coral will recover.

This was our third visit. We love the hotel! It’s on a beautiful beach in Half Moon Bay, Akumal. The restaurant is also on the beach. The rooms are large and comfortable. The staff is outstanding! They greet you like old friends. Every staff member has a smile and a greeting for you! Lovely grounds full of beautiful palm trees, a beach service where someone sets up your chaise lounge under a palapa or in the sun. Free continental breakfast with coffee, juice, toast, and a plate of four different fresh fruits! A wide breakfast menu if you desire a more filling meal. Then for lunch or dinner or just snacks or drinks they have a restaurant on site with beautiful bay views. They have a diving shop on the beach too. The main attraction is swimming with protected sea turtles for those who are adventurous!

We do not enjoy the dinner meals at the restaurant as much as many, many travelers do. They have a large menu perfect for families but we usually dine in the evenings at Taverna Akumal, a nearby restaurant. We do enjoy our breakfasts at the hotel and we like to get drinks and snacks at the hotel restaurant.

The location was fabulous; easy access to the beach and snorkeling. Included continental breakfast was a good sized plate of fruit, a lot of toast, coffee, and juice. Other good restaurants were nearby. Staff were helpful in arranging money exchange and shuttle to the next hotel.

The refrigerator in the room made a loud clank, every time it turned on, which was sufficient to wake us. The water was only tepid at best, so showers were rather nasty. The room itself was in good shape, the fittings in the bathroom were rather corroded - possibly the humidity, though we didn’t see this at our other two lodgings.
