This is a really difficult one to rate for reasons I'll go into more below, but ultimately I have to give it a great score because me and my partner had a great time! We took a chance on this place as it's obviously quite pricey if you're on any sort of budget and it had no reviews on here when we booked. The few reviews we could find in the internet were quite negative, but for ridiculous reasons like saying "it's not in Tulum" or "the beach is rocky" - things the hotel can't do much about! I wanted to dispel a few myths on that front. While it isn't our sort of place, we have to admin we had a great time. We were treated amazingly, from the glass of champagne at welcome to the personal service whenever we needed anything, plus a late checkout to enjoy the facilities for longer. We stayed in the Sian Ka'an suite which is totally worth the extra money. Not only do you get a huge suite on the beach with a jacuzzi inside and a bed outside, but it also gives you a higher-level wristband with a few more privileges like extra fancy menu options. The food was really tasty everywhere we ate. It would get a bit samey if you were here for a week, but for one night we had an abundance of choice. Entertainment was a little limited but there was some dancing on our night there.

Look, if you don't like expensive all-inclusives then you obviously won't like it. We wouldn't usually tend to go for this kind of thing as it's not near anywhere (it's like 10 mins drive from Akumal, which I stupidly didn't check) so you're fairly confined to the hotel area, but I guess that's what some people like. Some guests clearly have more money than decorum, but nothing the hotel can do about that. The beach is lovely out of the sea and it is rocky in it, but if you wear sandals while swimming this isn't much of a problem. It's not a way of seeing Mexico by any means, but we stayed here for 1 night of an 8 night trip along the Riviera Maya and that was fine.

The main pool was nice. There was beautiful ocean views.

The 2 smaller pools weren’t full and needed maintenance. Our room had beautiful views but didn’t realize we couldn’t hear the ocean. The restaurants were short staffed but the food was good.

March 2025

Weather was perfect second week of March. Pool time and friendly Canadian guests made the time go by quickly. Restaurants were varied and quite good (with the exception of the snack bar in the swim up bar pool area...service for the grill is super slow and the burgers are nasty). No one in my party of six got sick. Beds were very comfy. A/C was cold. Beach sand is white, soft and clean. Tropical fish (incl stingrays) are visible 3+ feet from shore (by the moored boats). Bring snorkeling equipment as the on-resort stores are very over-priced. .

Poorly managed resort in need of upkeep. Our rooms were just so so. Pulled the plug on the bathtub and the water came up through the drain and flooded the room and bath water pooled into the hallway. Bathroom pipes were "singing" quite loudly until the toilet was flushed. Obviously some plumbing issues. Late night partiers interrupted our sleep at 2 and 3 am, 2 nights out of 6. Travelling with children, we went to the lobby at 2:30 am to complain. Nobody at the desk. Phone was ringing...so WE answered it. Guest calling to ask for Security to shut the party down. I requested adjoining rooms and was told that was an extra charge. Then I learned there are no adjoining rooms. There is also an extra charge upon registering for environmental and state taxes. Beach was small and full of sargassum upon arrival due to windy conditions. Staff cleared it on day 3 yet the dead fish smell lingered on. This is not a reflection on the part of the resort...just be aware that this naturally occurring phenomenon may occur and could impact your holiday dream of the perfect beach scene. BTW..the covered cabanas on the beach are available for an additional fee. The town of Akumal is a short bus trip away. Do not get scammed into fast-talking salesmen from the Dive Shop for swimming with turtles. Do your research before accepting any over-priced touristy excursions. Entertainment was held nightly at 9 pm in a small indoor theatre. Two karaoke nights out of 6. One movie night. Minimal budget I guess. Front desk staff need to be able to understand and speak English to properly address guests' concerns. Senior citizens' needs were not considered in room allocation. There are a lot of stairs (most without hand rails) and a long maze of hallways to walk in the second story of the "brown" building. Rooms 2324 and 2325. The main buffet accessed from the lobby involves climbing a large double stairwell.

When we finally got the room we had booked online, the room was fine. It took 3 different room to get the one we booked.

It took 3 tries to get the room we booked. The facility needs up dated. The pools need resurfaced. The food was mediocore. The beach was covered in seaweed,

Nice Beach, good for snorkeling. Most of the stuff are very friendly and nice.

Room was very run-down and in need of renovation. The room could be also a bit cleaner. The food is not worthy of a 5-star hotel. We would not book this hotel again, the price-performance ratio was not right in our opinion.
