We had a fantastic time. Location next to the lake was great. The resort is beautiful with jungle foliage, large trees and great lighting at night. Balconies are lovely with hammocks. Rooms are excellent and beautifully decorated. Very quiet and relaxing. Breakfast was fantastic and very filling with fruit and granola to start and then a main dish. It was delicious. Bacalar is a great little place. Some fantastic restaurants on the front including La Playita, Mi Burrito van and Punta Corcho Bacalar. We had a tour to Becan Temple which was unbelievable and booked on Viator (TripAdvisor) and the tour guide Vlad was so lovely. You can climb the temple so it was the highlight of the holiday. Also, the boat tour on the lagoon was amazing by Day Tours which I recommended and very reasonable in price.

My score was 9/10 so please don’t be put off by the comments here. The hotel is fantastic. The road in is long and gets a little tedious in the end… we had a little car and it’s doable but takes 15mins going slow. Needs addressing immediately before it puts any more people off. The restaurant was beautiful but needs a better menu. After two days we had to go into town as half the menu is burgers, pasta and chicken nuggets which isn’t very authentic. The Mexican dishes need to be made a priority and could do with more flavour if only with sides of hot salsa or hot sauces to add spice and flavour. We would have spent a lot more on-site if we wanted to eat the food for lunch a dinner but only had breakfast in the end.

I loved the ethos of the hotel, it obviously really cares about minimising any negative impacts on its beautiful environment and encourages guests to do the same. It was a beautiful hotel set in an equally beautiful setting, and I loved the free kayaks and paddle board. We used them every day and enjoyed the still relatively untouched nature all around the hotel, including the mangroves. There are some amazing birds that can be seen alongside the jungle including kingfishers, kites, vultures and humming birds. The staff were all lovely as well, and really made the stay enjoyable.

The only things I wasn’t 100% happy about was the volume of the music both from the lobby and from the restaurant. The hotel is not so big, so it meant you could nearly always hear it throughout the day, which I thought wasn’t so much in line with minimising the disturbance to the surrounding wildlife and didn’t fit with the otherwise very tranquil vibe in my opinion (though they never played it too early or late into the night). I also thought it would be better for the environment if they were able to find a different solution to selling plastic water bottles in the restaurant.

• Restaurant Service: Service could be more attentive and organized. • Breakfast Confusion: We were told breakfast was included, but it turns out only a few items (basic eggs and simple pancakes) were covered. This was confusing and could easily be fixed by offering two separate menus—one for included items and one for additional options. • Beds: Just okay—not the most comfortable. • Remote Location: While peaceful, the hotel is far from town, which can be inconvenient if you’re hoping to be close to other restaurants, shops, or attractions.

Excellent location, need a car or taxi to bring you in. The dirt road is perfectly fine for a sedan that we rented but make sure you use the road that they specify on their communications, the other roads are a bit rough. The hotel Facilities were extremely nice. No bed bugs like other reviews have mentioned but bear in mind that this is a tropical destination so you will find a lot of mosquitoes, bugs lizars and even an opossum if you leave food outside the room(but this is all part of the charm when you visit a tropical place like this so do not whine about local fauna. The room was perfect size and we got offered a crib for our baby girl. Note that they do not offer them when you come in as they are transition to an Adults only hotel. The pool was perfect, nice and cold to beat the heat. The access to the lagoon is top notch. By wife, baby and myself spent a whole day in the pier bungalow and it was pure bliss. The free kayaks are a great add in and we used them every day we were there. The service was excellent from everyone. Giovanny was a bit funky but he was a great guy and very accoommodating to everything in the restaurant.

The restaurant. There are not that many options and for the beauty of the hotel, they owe it to themselves to have a better food offering. It is fine for a day or two, the portions are good, but after that, it does get old and a lot of the food options are fried, and we did need more healthy options. The included breakfast is simple but good, 2 eggs a bit of fried beans and some sauteed veggies, coffee and processed fruit juice. So just in general, improve the restaurant options and you have a 10/10 hotel.

Couple things we didn’t like so it’s a no return for us, however I still find it’s an amazing place 1. The property is not on the main route, and once you leave the Cancún Chetumal route you enter an unpaved road, this road was in good conditions during our visit, most likely because of the rain season, we only knew this detail when we got the instructions to arrive to the property 2. Because the property is not in town you really need a car if you want to stay here, count at least 15 to arrive to town, all the activities and the restaurants are in town 3. It was told there was a safe in the room but finally there was none 4. There are stairs from the entrance until the lake, not a problem for us but make sure you don’t have mobility issues

Khaban Bacalar Hotel Boutique offers numerous spacious high-quality bungalow rooms on a hillside (lots of steps!) overlooking the lagoon while maintaining a small scale boutique feel. Breakfast is great, freshly prepared, and served adjacent to the pool that borders the open water. Staff is really friendly and the small group manages to provide good service.

The boutique hotel is located 10 kilometres from Bacalar's centre, and a car is required to fully enjoy your stay. The connecting road is impossible to walk, and the trip is simply too long by foot. Bacalar is a tranquil tiny town with several fantastic restaurants and pubs, and most activities begin in the centre, so transportation is essential.

The property was beautiful, the staff in the restaurant were absolutely amazing! And the food was absolutely superb! It was never too busy apart from in the restaurant late in the evening. Kayaking was included which was lots of fun. Room was very large and had great facilities. Very quiet and relaxed. We had an lake view room which was absolutely amazing!! Lots of space to relax on the balcony.

The restaurant could get busy in the evening and closed at 8pm. The bar also closed at 9pm but I suppose this is to create the relaxed environment as there was no noise after 10pm. The bed was extremely soft which if you like a very soft bed is great. My partner did have a bad back due to the sinking bed. Small inconveniences: Only two chairs on deck when there’s four people. Only one toilet roll.

Property was very beautiful and well taken of. The bar and the pool was very nice and the thier lagoon section was clean to swim in. One of the best views in Bacalar. Staff was very friendly and professional. Must comment the manager Johnathan, he was extremely nice and professional and made us fell at home. Already planning another stay there! Highly recommend

A bit too far from the roadside however that made it an adventure for us!

The restaurant. The food is delicious.

They’ve wrote us 1.5 months before cancellation deadline to ask us for full payment. I did t reply right away, cause I thought I was within the cancellation period and they just cancelled my reservation. Found this really brutal and very bad customer service. I’ve asked for extra body lotion at 20.00 but it wasn’t possible to get any since the maids already left the property. We got only one glass to drink water at the room, we were 4 people.

The view was just perfect. The decoration and how the buildings are located is very pretty. You can swim in the lake which is so clean. There is very nice small pool as well which you can enjoy while having your drinks. Breakfast was tasty and tequila shots are big :)

The employees have informed us to be quite as it is a kind of a relaxing place. They had team building activity which is super nice but they were also very loud during the night. It was disturbing and we had struggled to sleep due to the noice but I do not think that they have team building activity every week :)
