Flora and her husband welcomed us so warmly 🥰 this was the best place I could have picked for our one week stay in Bacalar. We love it quiet and peaceful and don't mind to walk or drive a bit when we want some action. It was a shame we had to cancel one night, because we decided the drive to Cancun airport would be too stressful and long for the morning of New Year's Day before our flight back. We were handed everything we needed and asked for, sometimes we didn't even had to ask. It was also great to hear about some cultural details and having questions answered. Rooms were very clean and were cleaned daily. It's easy, just leave a little tip every other day. The shower, smart TV and AC worked just great and the beds and pillows were very comfy. The balcony very welcoming and we had a slight view of the lagoon. The whole surrounding of the rooms and the details where very cute and magical.

The only thing that was not so great, is that there is no closet and we brought a lot of clothes. There are only two shelves and a few hangers in the bathroom, where everything gets pretty moist. Half of one shelf is occupied by the safe. And the streets are tough to drive, yes. But that was the case everywhere we went. The owners care about it and have the roads bank up. It just does not improve much, because apparently no one knows how to do it right 😂

We really enjoyed our stay at Maison Bacalar. The property and gardens were very cute. The room was spacious, light, airy and functional and very clean. It had a large and very comfortable bed with cotton sheets. A very powerful shower. We really appreciated the coffee maker and the terrace was lovely. Flor gave us the best recommendations for eating out and things to do in Bacalar and the room was cleaned every day. Overall great value.

The location is a bit out of town. We enjoyed the walk.

Beautiful new(ish) hotel with a lovely garden and mosaic walkways. For us we liked the fact the room was a good size, clean, had a fridge, coffee maker and good A/C. Also a ceiling fan if that's what you prefer to use. Oh and for once in Mexico, lots of hot water in the shower. The area is nice and quiet as it is a little ways out from the centre of town but it is an easy walk to central Bacalar. Okay, we have never met a more friendly, helpful hostess. Flor went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed including arranging a taxi the morning we departed. This hotel is her pride and joy and she takes it very seriously in making sure her guests are taken care of. And for those whose Spanish is limited her English is flawless.

Everything was great. Maybe staying a few days longer.

it was a very well maintained apartment with a high quality bed, the best I slept in during my 3 weeks in Mexico. the staff communicated clear, pleasant and swift and was very helpful. initially I thought to arrive at 4pm but it turned out to be 4am. we were let into a better room than we booked for without extra charge or hassle. so grateful! nice tips for trips and restaurants. this is the kind service one hopes for when booking!

Beautiful, quiet location. Each room is Surrounded by beautiful gardens, and a nice patio with bistro style table and chairs. There is a coffee maker, fridge, and toaster oven, to create simple meals, with all the necessary plates, bowls and cutlery. The attention to detail in both the room and the surrounding grounds creates a peaceful atmosphere. Partial views of the lake are visible from the upstairs rooms. There is a restaurant within walking distance and access to the lake is nearby as well. Location is out of town, but nearby. In 20-25 minutes (walking)you can be in the thick of things. Just a few minutes drive with car. The hosts are wonderful! Flor and Simon care deeply about providing you comfort, rest, and relaxation in a quiet beautiful environment. They are prompt in responding to questions and concerns. Really, a lovely place to stay!

Maison Bacalar is beautiful, very well maintained outside and there are lovely touches everywhere. The room was spacious and immaculate. Bed was very comfortable, air con worked perfectly, coffee in the room was nice. Flor was very friendly and helpful, she gave us great recommendations and arranged a sailing tour for us.

A bit outside of town but it didn't bother us, and the (short) bit of road to access from the main road is quite bumpy. Just pay attention with a rental car but we had a standard car and had no issues.

Away from the town but right at the lagoon and surrounded by lush greenery, so you can wake up to the sounds of birds. Surroundings are beautifully decorated but private area is quite limited to the room and a balcony, there is no garden space. Staff is very quick to respond and helpful with anything one needs including tips, arranging sailing trip.

Lovely cosy place. The hostess is very sweet and helpful with both tips and practical stuff. We enjoyed the balcony a lot and the clean fresh rooms. Easy to go swimming by the nearby hotel. The other very nearby hotel La Casa Lamat serves a lovely breakfast and lunch. They also rent out kayaks , which we discovered too late, but clearly where I would go to rent if I come back. Much better than in town.

The roads in the area are very rough.

No breakfast on site but nearby, no immediate access to the lagoon, difficult access road due to rocky surface, 30 minute walk to town along dusty road

This is almost a new place, with high ceilings and lots of windows. It's VERY comfortable, and has great air conditioning. I was hoping for a better view as one of the photos showed a view of the water, but there was a palm tree in the way. If they could move the palm tree, there would be a much nicer view, lol. I requested a different room for the 2nd day, and the manager made the switch! The location is pretty good as you can just take a walk down to the beach, or hop in a $2 cab ride to the public park/dock along the water. The Manager/Owner was VERY QUICK to respond to anything I asked about or needed and offered some great suggestions of places to go - including a massage parlor for approx $40.

They may want to add a suitcase stand or somewhere to put your open suitcase so it doesn't have to be on your bed. And maybe improve the front yards a bit.
