While a bit on the higher price side for a hostel, it is good value for money. Comfortable dorm beds, with curtains and electricity outlets, AC in the room. Towels are provided. Very nice, chilled and well equipped hostel, bar/restaurant, chill area, small pool, co-working space, laundry room. Breakfast & food in general is very good and lots of choice for breakfast. Location right at the lagoon (with crocodiles) and opposite to one of the few public beach accesses is great. Bus stop in front. Restaurants & supermarkt in immediate neighbourhood. Staff is friendly and helpful, they offer hostel activities and turs (but I did not make use of that).

The dorm room and particularly the shower and toilet floors were always dirty, wet or covered in wet sand. It was not horrible but it could easily be remedied by just mopping the floor more often or providing a mop in the room so guests have at least the chance to clean up after themselves.

breakfast options were amazing! The staff is super friendly. David had many good recommendations and the tours offered were very fun and worth the price. The location is phenomenal. Close to the brach and to entertainment. It was very easy to catch the bus. The environment is nice and the amenities are outstanding.

Perhaps I went during a slow season, but the social events were not very fun. It seemed like not enough people were willing to participate. Sometimes it took a little long to be served breakfast but I was understanding that there was only a few staff there to attend to guests.

I really loved everything in this place, my first time here was 5 years ago, and only stay there for 1 night, but this time I booked 3 nights and while I was there I decided to book 2 nights more because I was having such a great time. It’s such an incredible place to make new friends, to party and also is very well located right in front of the beach and if you want to go to the clubs you can also walk! I loved every second of it.

I loved my stay with Mayan Monkey in Cancun so much that I ended up back there for another couple weeks before wrapping up my trip in Mexico. It’s a fun and social hostel with a good atmosphere, helpful staff and positive vibes. Dave, the tour organizer, was helpful as always and made sure we didn’t miss out on any of the hotel activities or special events along the club strip. Mayan Monkey makes you feel like you’re part of a big family, so be prepared to reroute your plans or push back your flights to spend more time with the amazing people you’ll meet here!

Great dorms with plenty of space for luggage and comfortable bed. Great to have the toilets and showers separated, to avoid congestion at peak hours. The social area looks fantastic, with the pool overlooking the lagoon and offering a great sunset view (which you wouldn't be able to see from the beach located east). If you are lucky, you will see crocodiles :D Amazing and numerous breakfast options, it was always hard to pick one. Good cocktails and super friendly baristas and security. Affordable laundry service and bike rental. Great location just a short walk away from the beach.

The only remark I have: guests want to get to know each other and that happens by conversating. The music in the evening was so loud, that it was impossible to speak without screaming. Leave loud music for dedicated dancing events or to the numerous clubs in the area. It would be sufficient to just lower the music a bit and allow people to socialize, play games, etc

Mayan Monkey was the highlight of our trip in Mexico. It’s super close to the beach, restaurants and nightlife. The vibes there are amazing and the staff really look after you. Dave went above and beyond to make sure we had an incredible stay. He gave us a heap of travel tips and helped us to get tickets to local tours and the nightlife in the area. I lost my hat on a tour bus, but Dave went out of his way to track it down and made sure I got it back. If you're looking for a fun and social place to stay in Cancun, Mayan Monkey is the way to go.

Tha Mayan Monkey Hostel is a lively place in the hotel zone with a good location. Close to the beaches as well as center, eating spots close by. They also have their own bar for drinks or food and breakfast is offered (very nice!). The pool offers a view over the lagoon and the towel for showering was strongly appreciated. Bathroom and beds were clean, towel for showering was appreciated. Staff was very friendly and organised transport to the airport. Even though I didn't have time to attend, it was nice to see the amount of activities offered there. Can fully recommend this hostel.

The staff is beyond kind! They are so attentive to guests! The coffee, juice and breakfast choices are good! The dorm bed space is very nice spacious and AC is great!

The pool could get dirty and I wondered if they checked chlorine levels daily or more so on weekends. It is a small pool, but it is on a deck. Music always playing, not a lot of quiet spaces. If looking for a music party place this is it. No cups or mugs in the kitchen. Needs more fridge space for the size of the hostel.

First of all, the location is absolutely perfect. It is right in front of the entrance to the beach, so you do not need to walk or to take a transport, just cross the road and you are on the beach. And you can go to it at night or early in the morning. It has public access and never closes. Also the place is close to the central area of the Hotel Zone where you can find a huge supermarket on 3 floors. All clubs and bars are also in this area. --- The beach itself is gorgeous and endless, you can walk down towards the end of the hotel zone which is many kilometers. The hostel is spacious, there is plenty of space in common areas and in the room itself. There is a locker in the room. The breakfast option is nice: a lot to choose from and the price looks like a good bargain. Staff is very friendly and helpful. ---- I really enjoyed my stay, thank you very much!

This hotel is an excellent choice for socializers, offering a lively and welcoming atmosphere. The location is fantastic—right across from a beautiful beach—and surrounded by, including a main bus stop, restaurants, a large supermarket, and a convenience store. The spacious layout makes it easy to move around, and the view of the backwaters or lagoons adds a serene touch. Despite the vibrant social vibe, the property still manages to feel private, like a true oasis in the heart of the city. The staff are amazing—Franco and Juliette stood out for their exceptional service and friendliness. Given a chance, I would happily return to this gem in Cancun. With a few improvements, such as providing a kettle, better-quality cutlery and utensils, along with a space to hang towels or basic clothing in the dorm, this place would easily deserve a perfect ten.
