This hotel is very well located, even though it is not facing the beach side of Cancun. It is remote, safe and surrounded by jungle trees and animals - offering a true Mexican experience. Staff is welcoming and cleaning personnel is very efficient.

Internet is available only in the main lobby.

Good location, not far from the beach, close to some restaurants, and grocery stores, but otherwise on a quiet street. Comfortable, nice, clean place, easy to find, and for good money.

I don't know if it was just my room or it's standard but I was not really happy about not having a refrigerator in my room.

The little paths through the trees were gorgeous, the breakfast was so tasty and different every day. Staff were lovely and helpful. We were in an upstairs room that was surrounded by trees , it was like being in a treehouse, loved it. Perfect base to explore the fabulous area. The Italian restaurant round the corner is really nice too and theres a convenience shop really close by.

Wifi was only in the lobby but it was such good value for money that wasnt a huge deal.

About the room, if you could get the one in ground level it will be a delight to wake up and sit outside so you could see birds and little lizard roaming around you. For the location, it is a perfect area because you are in both direction, by bus the R1 or R2, one side at 10 min from Cancun downtown and on the other direction you head to the beaches, hotels and bar clubs. And as for the air conditioning in the room it was working well

Well the negative point is that there is no coffee machine and no internet in the rooms you have to access it in the lobby and they should improve the breakfast

WE LOVED THAT THE STAFF LET US CHECK-IN EARLIER. Our original flight at 11pm was canceled, so we had to wait another 3 hours for our flight, so we were really tired. WE LOVED THE LOCATION- It was at kilometer (km.) 4. A walking distance to get the Ultramar Ferry to Isla Mujeres. In the way there, there were about 5 kiosks by the lagoon. Another thing that we LIKED was the hotel’s A la Carte BREAKFAST since it was very tasty. The presentation could have been better. A tiny bowl of fruit could have filled the emptiness in the Chorizo Omelette plate. It had a small portion of refried, black beans with 2 pieces of white bread. My in-law’s red chilaquiles with 2 fried eggs looked & was delicious! WE LOVED THE NICE LAGOON, right next to the Palapa structured restaurant! We LIKED the high & big Palapa that provided a NICE SHADE to look at the lagoon. The the lagoon & yachts can be seen from the swimming pool, as well. WE ALSO LIKED THE NATIVE TREES AND PLANTS that serve as gardens. We even found a ripe mango under a mango tree. WE LOVED PLAYA DELFINES, at 14 kilometers away from the hotel. The city bus charges $12 pesos to get there, from 1 block, from the hotel. There was a convenience store (OXXO) at about 1 block + 300 steps from the hotel. WE LIKED THE AC. It was very effective!

We didn’t like that the sheer curtain was stinky. It is hanging from a wooden pole that is screwed to the ceiling, so the curtain cannot be removed, unless the pole is unscrewed. The light above the bathroom’s mirror was not working. We didn’t like that we had to tell reception that our TV was not working. They send a repairman to get it running. 10/18-25/23 there were some mosquitoes in Cancún & Tulum. There was a very fresh wind. It only rained in Playa Delfines on 10/20, at about 6pm. It’s important to mention that the towels stay wet because the weather & vegetation is very humid. We needed to ask for dry towels everyday.

We had a pleasant experience overall! The person at reception greeted us warmly with a welcoming smile and quickly found a room that met our requirements. The stay was great, with the location being super convenient—close to shops and the bus stop. To make it even better, I’d suggest adding a hair dryer and a small fridge in each room to keep water cool, as well as an air freshener to enhance the atmosphere.

Nice small hotel seconds from a marina. All staff pleasant. Pool nice and cleaned every morning. Many trees and plants between reception and room making it feel like you are in the jungle. Room clean, shower excellent.

My only criticism is that breakfast was basic. My wife and I don't eat pork and almost every breakfast had pork/bacon with no alternative. We found out that the fish in the adjacent marina do eat pork 😋 A kettle in room would have been nice.

We felt very comfortable and very safe. Nice old school basic hotel with a great location.

The pool could have been a lot cleaner. Yes it is surrounded by gorgeous trees and plants but it wasn't the leaves floating (just a few and we saw the staff fishing them out every morning) but how merky the water always was and it didn't look like the filters were in use to be honest. We found a chewing gum glued to the head board of our bed upon arrival. Sorry but this is unacceptable. Would have been great to have good internet in the rooms but at least the hotel is honest about it and it both mentions it on the website and at reception.

The room was great, just as expected the patio area was nice. We did get to see wildlife, life racoons in the trees.

The location is not the best. Its basically at the opposite end of the hotel zone and not walkable to the bars and restaurants. It wasn't too bad just a bus ride, straight shot to the entertainment area. We also did not like that there was no floor mat when you get out of the shower. We had to place a towel on the floor which was also a problem because they only gave us two towels

She was patient and attentive, taking the time to understand my concerns and working diligently to find a solution. Throughout my stay, the staff at Sotavento hotel were friendly and accommodating. They were always available to answer questions and provide recommendations for local attractions and restaurants. The hotel itself was clean and well-maintained, with comfortable rooms and a range of amenities to suit all travelers. Overall, I highly recommend Sotavento hotel to anyone looking for a pleasant and hassle-free stay in the area. The staff's commitment to customer service, and in particular the tours lady at the front desk, was outstanding and made my experience truly memorable.
