The buffet breakfast was wonderful. There was something for every palate. The beach was very good with the exception of the very rough tide. It did knock me down once. I would not let little children go into the ocean without having an adult with them. We especially liked all the umbrellas over the beach chairs for people (like my husband) who prefers a bit of shade. There were several different swimming pools for people to chose from. The restaurants were pricey, but very convenient and the food was good. We mostly ate at the Sports Bar. We had a lovely room with an ocean view. The room was lovely. The bathroom had separate tub and shower which was great. The only thing I would add to the bathroom is perhaps a little more light. We were pleasantly surprised that the room had a small refrigerator. The king sized bed was comfortable. And hearing the ocean waves was lovely and calming. The only problem with the room was a sound that we heard many times throughout the day that sounded like someone was brewing coffee. It was not a coffee maker but some other sound. The maids supplied fresh towels and bedding daily and bottles of water as well. We had a very nice and restful stay and would recommend it to others. Thanks to another person who wrote that sales people at that hotel were trying to interest people in buying time shares, we were able to avoid those sales people. We are not be interested in a timeshare. We saw the area next door by accident where we are sure the time shares are. We were not impressed with that area. One more thing, everyone who worked there was wonderful. I was especially impressed with Yazmin, an employee who we met at the breakfast buffet. She was very kind and hospitable and made sure that our stay was comfortable. Yazmin is a exemplary employee and an employee that the Westin Resort & Spa should cherish.

The rooms were spacious and clean. Bathrooms were updated and modern. The food was good and there were fun activities included like stretching, yoga, aqua aerobics, etc.

The gym was 18+, so my teenagers couldn’t go.

The location exceeded our expectations. Being at the lower end of the Hotel District turned out to be exactly what we were looking for. Transportation options (bus/uber) were available when we wanted to leave the property, but there isn't much reason to leave the property! The restaurants were perfect, including a coffee shop, a casual restaurant, and an upscale dining option, as well as consistent and quick pool side / beach dining and drink service -- so wonderful! The property staff are top notch and professional. The beach at this location is perfect, with ample umbrella tables and lounge chairs. No need to arrive early for a good view -- any time you go to the beach and pools the spots available are prime - no matter where you sit you're pool and beach front. Swim up bar is fantastic, and many areas on the beach side and the lagoon side to relax and enjoy Cancun.

One minor suggestion: Would be great if the swim-up bar had "adults only" hours. At times children were occupying the seats. Pool with the bar should be primarily adults only. There are pools in close proximity, so those under 18 would still have available options for swimming.

Pressure to tip: This American tipping culture is not something the whole world should have to adapt. There are guests in this hotel who aren't American and shouldn't feel made bad for not tipping in every situation. Extortionate prices for breakfast

The best thing about this property is it’s right on the beach! They have a wonderful happy hour from 3:30-4:30pm daily. All the restaurants on site were wonderful. Lots of fun activities to participate in if you choose. Very friendly staff and made great recommendations for other restaurants that were walking distance from the hotel!

Unfortunately, this hotel does not provide a transfer from the airport to the hotel. This is NOT their fault But, if this your first time to Cancun, just know that you will need to negotiate for your taxi OR take an Uber. Apparently you can take an Uber from the hotel to the airport, but not the other way around. The hotel is less than 15 minutes from the airport and we got gouged on a taxi. They are like vultures at the airport. And, all the resorts down there will offer to “pay” for your taxi or refund it when you come listen to a 90 minute time share presentation. It’s never 90 mins by the way. At first, it was $100, then $80, and finally we settled on $50! Apparently, we got a “good deal”

You know what they say, location is everything! Most of the time there was mild surf but 300 yards down the beach was as calm as possible. This facility is always comfortable and clean. What makes this place the best is the staff, wonderful and warm. Each and everyday they would say good morning, afternoon or evening Two staff who stood out most was Manuel and Fernando. Two of the hardest workers who juggled so many duties and so many guest requests. They took time to learn names, what people liked and sometimes expected. And they always did everything with a smile. I cannot say enough good things about this entire staff. I think I will always smile whenever I hear, “ Mr Forest, Mr Forest”!

Check-in was smooth and informative. The room was the perfect setup for the family, comfortable beds. Who does not like the beach and pool areas and all the activities. The staff were outstanding.

This is about the area. Hired a private driver and the young man was concerned about his safety. Each time he came to pick us up. The bell hops would give him a not so welcoming look and tell him to move along quickly. I understand security for all quest is important but this was not the case.

The resort staff is exceptional, from the custodial staff to the concierge to the service staff in the restaurants, and everyone else. All are welcoming, helpful and accommodating. We've traveled far and wide and the Westin personnel are far above all we've experienced anywhere in the world. The breakfast is generous and it would satisfy any taste. The restaurants on the premises were our dining venues during our five-day stay, and we didn't feel we were missing anything; meal preparation was first class and good value. We enjoyed the numerous pools and the spaciousness of the grounds which enabled us to take long walks. There's a bus stop a block from the hotel so you can get anywhere in the hotel strip - and beyond- for a (US) buck; and the buses run often. This is a wonderful place for the young, older folks or families.

There is not much one can do walking distance from the hotel. But the bus stop - a. bl ock away - resolves that with fast and frequent service 24/7.

The beach was great - clean and very easily accessible. The room was very comfortable with a wonderful ocean view. Unfortunately we could not get a balcony room so the fact that the windows could not open very wide at all and were extremely dirty sadly spoiled our view somewhat. They could maybe have at least cleaned half a window occasionally so we could see and photograph the beautiful morning sunrises. Breakfast buffet was great although we tended to do a la carte because we could not do that amount of food justice for that price. We were very impressed with the staff friendliness, helpfulness, kindness and welcoming attitude - they made all the difference! We made some friends who will will now remain in contact with.

Coming from South Africa where our ZAR is 19:1 to the US$ the prices were exorbitant for us, so it was a bit of a cringe when paying at least double or more for anything compared to back home. Sadly because we were foreigners everyone just expected us to be Americans or Europeans having plenty of US$ or Euros.
