Let's start by saying that I rarely go to hostels. I'm not overly gregarious and I value my privacy. But I only needed a room for a night, possibly a few more, upon my arrival in Puerto Morelos and was hoping to minimize the expenses. So somehow I ended up at Humanity Hostel. As soon as I arrived, Ben, one of the owners with Morgane, was very warm and welcoming. He was keen on giving info and tips about their place and Puerto Morelos in general. The rest of the team, I quickly found, was also friendly and helpful as needed. The place itself was clean, tidy and quite peaceful. There's a chilling area in the garden with a swimming pool and a deck on the roof. The rooftop is nice in the evening after the temperature has dropped a bit. Everyone was respectful of others. We even had a night out playing games with all the team and several guests at a nice little restaurant (Maiz-Maix :-) ) on the port side. Et pour ceux qui ont de la difficulté avec l'anglais ou l'espagnol, vous pouvez y parler français sans problème. I'll miss the place but now that I have found my own place in PM, I can come and visit Humanity once in a while.

Nothing much really. As far as hostels go, this is a good one. :-)

The host Ben took the time to welcome me and direct me via a map to the best places to eat and local happenings, like the Sunday fleamarket, which I otherwise would have missed. He spent time discussing his vision and the ethos of the place which I appreciated. The pool and covered patio was very welcoming and peaceful. I met and talked to interesting people and it was nice to socialise with older travellers for a change. (I was one of 3 other solo women travellers). When dogs from the street charged at me, which was scary, Ben was immediately by my side to chase them away. Ben, thank you for that and goe taking time to ensure I felt very at home at Humanity.

No decent sized/quality coffee mugs in the kitchen. Complementary coffee would be a great bonus. (Only tea was on offer). The bed sheets are polyester. A curtain on the bunk beds would also be welcome, although it was easy enough to use my sarong as a screen.

Finally a hostel that remembers the word "host" in its name. Many hostels have just turned into a pure money business and have forgotten their roots of existence. Ben and his team at Humanity truly host people as if you are inviting someone into your home. The place is clean, organized, relaxing, chill, and a home away from home. Also one of the only places that features a pool that is clean and taken care of. Some people are worried that the location is not central enough to the beach or tourist areas. That is actually a bonus. You live amongst the locals, shop and eat where locals do and visit places around you with only local prices and experiences. Of course one wants to experience the beaches with all its waterfront activities. You can easily get there by renting a bike from the hostel (10 min), walk there (35 min), or take a colectivo close by for 10 pesos (5 min) When you are done after a busy day, you can retrieve to the quiet tranquil comfort of Humanity. Bonus features include a 360 degrees open rooftop that allows you to watch sunrise and sunset over the jungle, with everything in between. You can plan your own days and nights, or you can join the daily activities the hostels offers. Each activity is fun but has a local community involvement which makes the experience even more authentic. Any questions you have about anything during your stay will gladly be answered for you to make your stay as stress free and comfortable. Thank you again Ben and team for going above and beyond providing just a bed, but truly hosting every person that steps foot into your home. 🙏

Very relaxed and nice vibe at the hostel. Ben, the manager, will help you with anything you need or wonder about, plus he is a really friendly and nice guy to chat with. Nice little pool and common area where I had a lot of interesting conversations with the other guests. The location is obviously not on the beach but its really easy to get there by bus or taxi if you want to skip the walk, and instead you get to experience a bit of the less touristic yet very friendly (and a lot cheaper) part of the town.

The matress was a bit soft but thats just a matter of preference. A little light by each bed would have been nice.

The welcome from Ben was outstanding. Best reception I’ve had in any hostel in the last 12 months of travelling around the world. He went above and beyond and included a local map, explaining where to find the supermarket, bus pickups, the beach, and even the best dessert places. There’s an activities board, with various activities including beach cleanup days, salsa nights and visiting a dog shelter. Ben has a great sense of humour and seems to really care that his guests enjoy their stay.

It seemed during my stay the majority of guests were smokers, and they were catered to quite well. The common areas were always full of cigarette smoke, making it impossible for non-smokers to relax in these areas. There was also no comfortable dining area. There was a bar stool type area, but the stools were very awkward and uncomfortable, especially for anyone not tall. The girls dorm was always running out of toilet paper. There was never a spare roll provided, and it seemed like we were constantly having to ask for toilet paper. No hand soap was provided, making it virtually impossible to maintain proper hygiene after using the toilet.

First time for us in Mexico , we really appreciated the warm welcome and all the helpful advice given to us by our hosts . Benjamin and Morgane’s philosophy is to offer local tips and support to travelers. They also reach out to the local community for their unusual trips such as beach cleaning and dog shelter visiting . We tried salsa dancing and a visit to a lesser known Cenote . Totally recommended. The hostel itself is very comfortable- we had a double room with shared kitchen and beautiful garden with a little pool . The location was great walking distance to a lively little park where it was easy to pick up street food , a few restaurants and a local bus colectivo to the beach . Here there are lots of boat trips to go fishing or snorkelling on the coral reef . Puerto Morelos is an ideal first or last stopping point for Cancun airport about 25 minutes away .

+Benjamin and his wife took over the hostel a few months ago and they are absolutely the best. They have all the best Information and recommendations. They are 10/10 friendly, cordial, you can reach them anytime. They treat every guest individually. +The hostel is perfect for backpackers and travelers searching for a more relaxed and authentic Mexican experience - there are loads of local shops and restaurants around. +Kitchen is okay, there are shops and a few supermarkets around, so it is easy to cook by yourselves. +collectivos to Cancun and Playa del Carmen are just a few blocks away (30MXN/Person, easy to use). Also to Puerto Morelos beach (10MXN/Person) +The cats are very sweet +They offer good value tours to cenotes, coffee tasting, local tourism sites, Recommended!

-it is a hostel. A little basic - but that’s what a hostel is and should be. If you are searching for party or luxury it is not the right place. For us it was perfect.

Wonderful, low-key but welcoming atmosphere. Ben and Max are truly interested in everyone who comes through the door. I'm not a back-packer and don't stay at hostels usually but I was pleasantly surprised at the warm, relaxed invitation to just be - no matter who you are.

Not much I didn't like. The first room I booked didn't have air, but Ben switched me to a smaller room with a bathroom that did have air the next day. I didn't even have to ask. Now that's a great consierge!

This is a beautiful place to stay. The common area is comfortable with plenty of space to gather with others or get some time alone. Ben and his wife are so helpful with everything from helping you to get around and know the area to taking you to salsa dancing. They promote such a friendly atmosphere it feels like coming home each night. The rooms are clean and very basic. I really enjoyed my new mattress and slept so well. Great airflow through the room. Don’t hesitate.

Good value private room was really appreciated whilst diving. Walkable from the colectivo stop by the big supermarket (though could be uncomfortable on a hot day). It's in the district by the highway, *not* at the beach - but it's a 10 peso colectivo ride to get to the seaside part. There's a pool, but I didn't use it as was in the ocean much of my time. Owner was helpful with information digitally in advance.

Was a little weird that I basically never met any staff whilst there, and there were very few guests, so not really a social atmosphere. Was okay for me at that time, might not suit others.
