Casa Mate is a cute property right on the beach in Cuyo. The shaded beach area is heaven. The place is clean, the staff is friendly and the food is excellent! When traveling to Cuyo, you have to remember that patience is required and that electricity is not guaranteed. Cuyo is not for people looking for luxury, guaranteed internet, etc. It is a simple, rustic, Mexican pueblo, with people who work hard to meet your needs as best they can with what's available to them. A trip to Cuyo is always an adventure, but one that is well worth it. Hector and his team were friendly, helpful and very accommodating. Casa Mate was just what we were looking for! We'll be back.

It would be nice to have a broom within Casa 1 to sweep the sand out and to have a plan for guest support when the electricity goes out at night (something normal in Cuyo). Flashlights or lanterns would have helped a great deal. Nothing to do with Casa Mate, but when traveling to Cuyo, bug repellent is a must!

The place is right on the beach. It's simple, but with everything you need. The staff is super friendly, and we felt so welcome from beginning to end. Staff went above and beyond for us, and the food is delicious.

On booking, the listing indicates an entire house, but we actually only got access to a part of the house. This did not bother us, because we didn't need that much space, but I do feel like this should be adjusted, because other guests may be bothered by it if you arrive with more people.

Great location beachfront, beds are super comfy and living/dining area is spacious and nice. Being in the beachfront is priceless

The kitchen didn’t have enough plates, cups etc, needs a bit of love and attention. This place has so much potential. With some artwork, lamps in the rooms and hammocks on the giant patio that was pretty much empty and a table that sits 8 outdoors would be perfect. Pool was also filthy and we didn’t use it. Seems it doesn’t have a pump. Overall it is worth the price for the beach.

Exactly what we hoped for. El Cuyo is a lovely small town so keep that in mind if you are going to compare it to a larger resort town. There is WiFi via star link but it didn’t work in our rooms. Not a negative point at all. It was nice to limit screen time and enjoy the amazing views that we got to wake up to ever morning. We initially planned to only stay for one night but kept extending it. Possibly one of the best places to stay on the whole peninsula. We had 3 bedrooms on the sand, swam with Marta rays and the local food choices were excellent. There were minor issues that came up but nothing that would warrant a negative review. There are some “Tulum” style places popping up but let’s hope this town stays exactly how it is.

Exposed busbar next to front door for the water heater breaker. That should be covered up and could be deadly for a curious kid or unfamiliar tourist.

Very nice and quiet medium size hotel on a great beach! We were on the second floor and the view mixed with the breeze was amazing! Simple but exactly what you would expect from a beach hotel, spacious and clean. I would definitely recommend for a family or 2.

I love this place. Have come about seven times now. It’s perfectly located, the food at the restaurant is great. Perfect to seriously chill.

Just small details. Bedside tables by the bed for example, some hammocks would be nice. The house is spacious and has everything you would need.

I stay here all the time with family and friends. Best location and large space.
