Riad Dar Aldea is gorgeous! From the intricately painted doors and walls, to the beautiful tile and the lattice wood on the ceiling, there has been so much attention to detail. The breakfast, served on a beautiful rooftop, was my favorite so far, consisting of different breads, egg, avocado, olives, goat cheese, marmalade, almond butter, and of course orange juice and tea. The staff is very kind and helpful and the room and bathroom were very clean. The mattress is really comfortable and there was a mattress pad! My room (second floor with a window overlooking the stairs in front) was small and the bathroom quite small, so maybe not ideal for two people, but perfect for one. Located in the middle of the Medina, it's a little tricky to find like all of the riads, so it's probably a good idea to arrange ahead of time for someone to pick you up. I absolutely recommend!

There was nothing I didn't like, but I think a fan would be a really nice addition.

We loved the location, the terrace views and the warm welcome from our hosts. The room and bathroom were quite small but with access to the sunny terrace, this was fine for us. The wonderful Amina, our hostess, provided us with an exceptional meal one night - the best we’ve had during three weeks in Morroco. Amina knows how to combine flavour and presentation to create a memorable meal.(We had requested vegetarian.) Thanks to her husband, as well, for ensuring we were well looked.

It’s best to travel light when visiting Chefchaouen. Like all places in the Medina, you have to climb a few steps. To us, this is part of the charm.

Super charming rooms dripping with design in a photogenic location. Dar Aldea is set back from a main street, Avenue Hassan I, up a winding staircase (with lots of people waiting for photos). The orange trees out front were in blossom, friendly cats, and yes plenty of blue. The terrace, and the views of the city and mountain from it, are fantastic. The photos don't do it justice. Dar Aldea also had a delicious and generous breakfast, the best of our trip. The couple were really nice, helpful, and accommodating.

The room got cold at night. Make sure you know where your extra blankets are stored if it's not summer.

The location in general was good, but the stairs to reach it were a surprise (and challenge). Great views from the terrace and rooftop. There was plenty of hot water and decent wifi. The decor is nice and It was very clean. It got cold at night, but the heat system was good. Everything was walkable from the dar though half the medina is climbing uneven stairs up and down. Amina was a sweetheart. Her breakfasts were good with some variations each day (she makes her own bread!).

The stairs leading up to the dar. Two other guests hired someone to carry their luggage up. I only had a backpack, but it was heavy. I was unable to do the stairs with it on my back (no handrails and stairs are uneven) and it was awkward and a bit time consuming to lug it up step by step. Luckily, you only arrive with luggage once! Just be prepared. Many dars in Chefchaouen have similar issues. There were stairs all over the medina, but no problem if you are not carrying luggage (and no knee problems).

Ahmed and his wife are very nice hosts. You are treated with lovely Moroccan tea on arrival. We contacted Ahmed on our way to Chefchaouen and he sent his son to help us with the car park (paid 20MAD for one-night for the parking). Prepare to walk uphill with few stairs, which was fine for us but some might struggle. The Dar is located right on top of the one of the most photographed place in Chefchaouen (Callejon El Asri), with plenty of shops all within walking distance. Nice views from the rooftop terrace.

The bathrooms are really small (found it a bit difficult to move around) but I guess this is standard for properties in Chefchaouen. Also, unfortunately, electricity went out in the morning during our stay (apparently electricity was down in all of Chefchaouen without any prior notice), although this is not the fault of the property (Ahmed's wife still managed to serve us nice breakfast without electricity). Nevertheless, this will not stop us from staying in this property again.

Very romantic place. Host of great gentleness, gorgeous breakfast

Too small the room and the bed as well. you will have to walk for a while through the souk to reach the hotel but it will be very easy to get some help from the locals to carry your luggage for the equivalent of a euro.

A gorgeously decorated Riad in the heart of Chefchaouen. Pretty doors, pretty bedrooms, lovely terrace. Ahmed was nice but his wife was even nicer. Her recommendations proved more trustworthy and she was endlessly helpful (laundry, early breakfast, staggered breakfasts). The terrace has a great view overlooking Chefchaouen. The place only has a handful of bedrooms so it feels like a boutique hotel. The breakfast was lovely.

Apart from the terrace, the main space downstairs is not really a place to hangout. The terrace was too hot in August and as the bedrooms are very small, that means there is nowhere really to hang out. I thought the kitchen was for our use but it did not feel like that. I did not like the Twins restaurant Ahmed sent us to on our first night as it had only tourists in it and a menu stretching from tacos to burgers via tagines (the one his wife had recommended, which we went to after, was brilliant), and I felt a bit too pushed towards his preferred carpet shop on the main square.

I liked my stay at Dar Aldea. I stayed 3 nights. The location is perfect and very safe. In heart of the medina and close to all the more famous monuments and places to visite. But carfull you have to climb some staires (around 50 maybe) before you get there. So ask for help to the owners. They were very helpfull and very welcoming. And I thank them again for the soup, tea...and all the little attention towards me. The room I had was ok for 1 personn. The bedroom tiny but a very good bed. And a beautifull bathroom and bath! The decoration is very authentique and the house very nice. Also I like the breakfast. Very typical from Morocco.

In my bathroom I had pipe smell problems.

The location was great and we had a very nice room. Our host was very helpful and friendly. She fed us well and helped when I got sick for a day. She allowed us to stay an extra day while I was recovering and helped arrange transportation when we left. We loved staying there and would stay there again if we return to Chefchaouen.

We were totally satisfied with our visit.

The location was perfect, right in the middle of the old town Medina. The only thing that you have to be aware of is that the cars will not be able to get to the house so pack light :) The entire family who worked at the facility were very nice, trying to help me get around and cooking a great breakfast for me. I enjoyed the time staying there and making friends with the house management as well as the owner. Great people!!!
