Maison d’hotes Afassi has been one of the most cutest stud we had in Morocco. We have enjoyed all of the properties in our two week, meeting wonderful staff across the country. Maison d’hotes Afassi was a little more special because it is family owned and operated. From all the questions we had before our arrival to the minute we walked in the door, Ahmed was an amazing host. He explained all the features of the hotel AND the information about Chefchaouan that we would need during our stay. The hotel is beautifully decorated… as we’re all the properties we stayed at! But you can feel this property had extra love into the building because it is their own business. Mom rubs the kitchen, dad is the magic that makes sure everything is on and watches over everyone from a distance, and Ahmad and Asia are the icing on the cake for customer service! This hotel is not in the Madina as we’re other properties we selected on Morocco… we specifically picked Maison d’hotes Afassi because of the review and the view from the rooftop!!! Gorgeous sunrise and sunset views!!! The old Madina was simply a 10 minute walk from the hotel and simply a 5 minute walk from the CTM bus terminal. You’ll find other properties in the madina are buried in the madina. They are very very cute but unlike other madinas, they are not easy to get to especially if you have luggage. 90% of Chefchaouan is walking up or down… so keep in mind of the location that you choose as these were important factors for us. Dining in the Madina is affordable depending on your budget. However just outside the Madina on our walk to and from the hotel there are a few local restaurants that are even more affordable. As is always the case, we will miss our new friends that we met at Maison d’hotes Afassi, just as much as we will miss the peaceful panoramic echos of the mosques calling for prayer that you are memorized in listening to from the rooftop patio of the Maison d’hotes Afassi. Ahmed and all the other staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They gave us a link to a WhatsApp page they had set up with all the information required about Chefchauon with Google map links showing you the various locations and how to get there. We followed their recommendation to a restaurant in the Medina and had some wonderful traditional Moroccan food. The hotel is well placed only a short walk to the main square and the old Medina and, most importantly, had secure undercover parking for our motorbikes! The hotel was a traditional building with lots of character, our room was very comfortable and clean.and the breakfast on the roof terrace was excellent.

My dad and I absolutely loved our stay at this hotel. The whole place was beautifully decorated, the rooftop breakfasts every morning were delicious, and the staff was simply incredible. Both Sia and Ahmed, the two receptionists, went above and beyond to make our stay great. They gave lots of wonderful recommendations and helped with any questions we had. I travel a lot and have rarely experienced such hospitality. It was also only a short walk to the old Medina and was nice to see some slightly less touristy parts of the city as we went. I highly recommend this property.

Our only issue, and it was very minor, was that the hot water was not always reliable. There was hot water, but it sometimes took awhile to get hot or did not remain hot for our entire shower. Otherwise, it was a perfect hotel.

The staff really make this place, especially the singing, smiling breakfast server! He makes you feel so good at the start of your day. Sia goes out of her way to help out guests with any requests, and Ahmed's restaurant recommendations were the best! His passionate enthusiasm for his town was lovely. Rooms are great value and have a fridge and heater, and there was rooftop kitchen access. The location near the bus station was perfect and I prefer to stay outside the crowded, busy medinas, so it was ideal. Breakfast was a highlight.

The shower was a little awkward and cramped, and you don't receive an external door key; returning from a morning run at 8am I had to knock on the door and ring the doorbell for five minutes before the breakfast server heard and called down from the roof. However, overall it was still a wonderful place to stay and I'd return.

Maison d'hôtes Afassi is located near the CTM bus station and the new center of Chefchaouen, making it an ideal choice for those arriving by bus. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Ahmed, who even congratulated me because it had been my birthday the day before. During check-in, Ahmed went out of his way to explain everything clearly. We were also given an upgrade to a spacious room with an extra seating area, after which Ahmed gave us a tour of the room and allowed us some time to relax. When we were ready to explore Chefchaouen, Ahmed marked all the highlights on our Google Maps and provided us with useful tips for our adventure in the city. Since it was raining, he even offered us an umbrella. As we were leaving early the next morning, Ahmed made sure our breakfast was prepared in advance and easy to take with us on our journey. He even went the extra mile by getting an additional pastry—completely unnecessary but highly appreciated! Ahmed’s service was truly exceptional, and I would highly recommend staying here to anyone visiting Chefchaouen.

Whether enjoying a morning coffee or relaxing in the evening, the balconies provide the perfect spot to take in the serene beauty of the landscape. The hotel offers all the essential amenities, including hot water available at all times, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious and varied, making our mornings even more enjoyable. The peaceful and cozy atmosphere makes it feel like a home away from home. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a unique and comfortable stay in chefchaouen. You couldn't ask for a more enthusiastic welcome than was provided by Ahmed. I literally can't imagine a more upbeat, friendly and helpful person. When we were ready to head out and see the sights, he saved a bunch of destinations in Google maps on my phone, both things to see and a bunch of restaurants he recommended. That made it easy to walk around the maze of streets in Chefchaouen and find his "favoritos" for pictures and such, and to choose a nearby place to eat when we got hungry. Room 1 was huge, with two double bedrooms and a room with two twins, as well as a small seating area. It was the largest family room we had across the 9 hotels we stayed in in Morocco, and the price was probably the lowest. Street parking was right outside the hotel.

The location was acceptable, but further to walk into town than we'd had elsewhere in Morocco. It took maybe 10 minutes before we were in the interesting part of town. The juice at breakfast wasn't freshly squeezed orange juice. Every other hotel had fresh orange juice, so this was very surprising, and with the super cheap price of juicing oranges in Morocco, it doesn't make sense to skimp in this area.

This is a great find. The room was large and spacious and very clean. The breakfast area on the terrace is unique and has great views. For our first night in Morocco it was a great experience. Our bags had not arrived into Casablanca so that put us 5 hours behind in driving to Chefchaouen. We did anticipate driving during the night on very windy roads with pot holes, donkeys and dogs to dodge as well as local traffic. Our host Ahmed went above and beyond making sure he kept in touch with us during our journey and waiting up until 1am until we got in. He helped us park our car and was one of the friendliest welcomes we have ever had on our travels. The lady on reception SIA was also fantastic she had lots of maps and recommendations for us. The breakfast waitress too was very friendly. Overall 10/10

Ahmed and Sia’s customer service was top notch. It was always so nice to have a friendly welcome and an upbeat person to interact with when coming back to the hotel. The hotel was also nicely furnished and I loved the colorful lights and decor, and everything was very clean.

The bed I slept in was very hard and I could not stay more than 2 nights in it. My shower water did not get warm or hot the one time I tried to use it. The location was just far enough (20 mins walk) from the blue part of the city so had to take a taxi or it was a long walk.
