Have just got back from a WONDERFUL 8 night stay at this beautiful riad and from the moment we arrived to the moment we left our stay was perfect thanks in no small part to the remarkable kindness and hospitality shown to us by Abdu, Akram, and Wafa as well as every other member of staff that we came across. The riad is simply stunning and its location on the northern most part of the medina ideal since you're only a short walk away from the usual tourist haunts but at the same time able to witness firsthand the everyday lives of the Moroccans who actually live in the medina as opposed to the tourists like us who come for a few days and then leave. (DO please give the tiny local snack bars/restaurants just down the road from the riad a try...most of the clientele are locals but the food is excellent and a fraction of the cost elsewhere. Also, be sure to take a walk down the alley next to the riad and you'll find an absolutely stunning mosque complex. Non Muslims can't enter the mosque itself but the exterior is gorgeous.) But back to the riad itself. In my opinion the photos you see online don't do it justice. Our room was massive, as was the bed, and was serviced daily whilst we were out and about. Like the rest of the hotel, it was as clean as it was beautiful and we just loved the authentic Moroccan feel of everything. What REALLY made our visit so memorable though was the staff, all of whom, without exception, were so, so lovely - nothing, and I mean nothing, was too much trouble and I can honestly say that in all our travels we've never come across such an incredible team and one of whom the owner should rightfully be exceptionally proud. Nothing not to like except the fact that we couldn't stay longer than 8 days.

The location was great as it was in the old town but in an area that wasn’t as busy. We stayed in the Shama suite and it was amazing! Huge room. Big comfortable bed and big bathroom. The staff were also amazing! Couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming. Brilliant team Wafa, Akram and especially Abdou who served us breakfast every morning. Would stay again and highly recommend.

There was nothing to dislike.

We had the best stay with Ayoub and Wafaa at Riad Shama. It's truly a quiet oasis, which is needed after the business of the Medina. Ayoub went out of his way to ensure that everything was perfect for our stay - we felt assured that we had a beautiful riad to return home to with owners who really looked after us. Our room was fantastic - large and spacious, with a really cool bathroom. Air-conditioning was good and helped us to cool down after a busy day! The pool was also fantastic - so pretty and also provided a way to cool down in the heat! We also enjoyed the rooftop terrace which has great views over the city. The whole riad is beautiful and the house keepers do a fantastic job of keeping it clean. We will remember the lovely smell of orange blossom that awaits as you walk through the doors! The location of the riad is good - a short walk into the main centre of the Medina. Everybody we encountered on the streets around the riad was welcoming and friendly. There is a street of small shops selling food and bottled water just round the corner - we found this handy for topping up on water and also enjoyed some yummy pancakes from one of the food stalls! We also booked the hotel transfer taxi, which was good and meant that we had one less thing to worry about! Thank you Ayoub and Wafaa!

I had a wonderful stay at Riad Shama! The hosts (Ayoub and Abdou) were incredibly welcoming and made sure every aspect of my stay was perfect. A special mention to Abdou, who went above and beyond to ensure I felt right at home—he truly made the experience unforgettable. The breakfast each morning was delicious and a great way to start the day. Overall, a fantastic experience, and I would highly recommend this riad to anyone visiting Marrakesh!

The water in the bathtub took a long time to drain.

It's such a beautiful Riad. Our room was amazing. So peaceful and in a great location. Right on the outskirts of the Medina. Easy to be dropped off right outside and approximately 20 minutes walk to the main square. The pool is very nice and bigger than most riads. Nice rooftop with fabulous views and plentiful sunbeds and places to sit. Breakfast was nice and the food menu was also good. A special mention must also go to the staff. They can't do enough for you. Can't remember the guy's name that worked the night shift but he was great and Anas who seemed to be on all day was a Superb host.

It's slightly tired in places but that really seemed to add to the rustic charm of the place. My only gripe was that the sunbeds were a bit tatty and could have done with a more regular clean.

We stayed two nights and everything was very good. The room was really clean and spacious. The service was very friendly especially Wafa, Ayoub and Abdou, who welcomed us with tea and recommended places to go. Finally, the place is very nice and has a swimming pool where you can swim and relax.

Everything was amazing! The place is a dream by itself. The room was so spacious and beautiful, and the bed and pillows were super comfortable. A special thanks to Abdou for making our experience even better with his positive attitude, constant smile, and excellent problem-solving skills! Definitely recommend!

It was the best riad I stayed in after 6 visits to Marrakech. The room was beautiful and spacious, the breakfast room had a fire every morning, Mustafa was so gentle and kind every time while serving us, the hamman and massage was a delight. The manager Ayoub offered me some credit for my phone and was very caring and friendly (I think I abused a bit because I asked him to translate a conversation with someone outside). There were some minor things to improve and both managers took notes and were open to the feedback. It was a peaceful Riad and I wished I had more time to enjoy being there. Thank you to all team!

On the first two nights, we had a double bed instead of two single beds as requested in the booking. It would have been nice to have an extra blanket in the room, two glasses instead of one, a rug by each side of the bed, more toilet paper, a bottle of water in the room on the arrival day, a nice thick book about Marrakech or so, maps for the medina...some details to make it even better.

Ayoub was a wonderful host, always available to help us in any situation.

We went on a tour at 7h40 and the breakfast wasn't available to take away.

If you are thinking of staying in a grand hotel when visiting Marrakech, I would advise you to think again. The design of a traditional Riad is perfect for the blisteringly hot temperatures of 43’c a hot Moroccan summer can throw at you .With its tall narrow layout & cool pool in its centre, it more than adequately delivered but if you needed cooled down further, the rooms all have excellent wall mounted aircon units. You feel like you have truly been immersed in the Marrakesh experience & after a few hours of being besieged in the souks & the Jamal el Fna, it was wonderful to escape down the side street back to the inconspicuous doorway of our little oasis in the city.

Maybe some fruit with breakfast…that’s about it!
