Such a special space in the heart of Tangier — La Maison feels like staying with your cool expat friends or relatives and definitely not like a boring hotel or hotel-type property! The decor is incredibly thoughtful; the spaces all around the property are tranquil; the rooftop view is not to be missed; and the team at La Maison are some of the friendliest hospitality/tourism professionals I've ever met. And as an added bonus, the shower in my room was so hot with great water pressure, as the perfect cap-off to each day. Would certainly stay again, if life takes me to Tangier again. Thanks for a standout stay!

It wasn't an issue for me but the property would be difficult for those with mobility challenges or who struggle with stairs. There are a lot of them, as is the case in general with Tangier! It also wouldn't be the space for you if you want something more corporate-feeling; it's more cozy and home-away-from-home-esque with nice decor touches that feel personally selected and add lots of charm, rather than a clean/modern space with little clutter.

Sandra and the team were great hosts. The property is beautiful. It was a little too cool outside to use the pool, at least for me. The breakfasts were excellent. I had dinner the first night, and the lamb tagine was very tasty. The 2-for-1 happy hour in the evening is a nice way to meet other guests. The location is close to Grand Socco and the Medina. It is an uphill walk to the Phoenician Tombs and Cafe Hafa. The room was spacious with a nice seating area under the window. The shower had probably the best view. Shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel were provided. The walk-in shower was large, and so were the bath towels. There was plenty of hot water and great water pressure.

The hotel is absolutely what you could wish for in Tangier. The interior is filled with local crafts and furniture from a time gone bye. You feel like you’re an artist/ writer from the 1920s. The furniture is so beautiful. The flowers are freshly cut from the quaint garden at the rear. Rooms are really spacious and sumptuous. But more importantly the staff - Sandra and Zac and all the team are welcoming and can’t do enough for you. A lovely lady makes the best eggs any style in the morning with a smile. This place is the perfect taste of Tangier

My fiancé and I stayed at La Maison de Tanger for 4 beautiful nights. We were in Tangier for a wedding at Villa Mabrouka at the weekend, but came to stay at La Maison to get to know Tangier beforehand. The entire staff made us feel so comfortable and welcome, especially Sandra and Oussama who came to feel like friends very quickly. Our bed was incredibly comfortable and the shower very good, and the decor is absolutely gorgeous. We also took advantage of the hammam and had gommage and massage treatments which were really lovely and we’d highly recommend. It was hardly cold by English standards but as soon as the slightest chill hit the air a roaring fire would be lit in the dining room to make sure it was extra cosy. We liked it so much that on our final day, after the wedding, we came back to say goodbye and nurse our hangovers by the peaceful pool. The owners of the hotel also happened to be in town when we were visiting and seemed like lovely people, and it was a delight to experience in their Tangier dream!

Quite honestly, we liked everything - we wished they'd had a room available for the entirety of our stay.

A charming and Beautifully decorated Riad. Spacious and very clean room, with tea making facilities. Sandra was super informative and “simpatica”. All the staff were very friendly. Loved how near we were to the medina yet it was very tranquil especially in the inner courtyard where the plunge pool and massage made my stay very relaxed. Although I did not have breakfast it looked very inviting, they offered us a typical tea on arrival which was very appreciated after our journey. Although a small property With 7 rooms, it has plenty of outdoor space with a Roof top terrace and lush gardens where you can dine and have a cocktail.

Nothing at all.

Beautiful facilities particularly outside, fantastic breakfast with friendly staff, beautiful room and great location

One of the Moroccan receptionists accused us of lying with regards to room not being cleaned one day instead of just listening. Room being cleaned wasn’t the issue and we should have left the keys. It was the tone and way he handled the situation accusing us of lying when we explained that we didn’t leave the keys yesterday and that the room was still cleaned that frustrated us. The receptionist the next day dealt with us and apologised which we appreciated (although would have been nice to offer a complementary wine). He needs more training on how to handle guests and be attentive to their needs at an establishment like this rather than accuse them of lying alongside flirting with female tourists. Felt very disappointed with this.

Our arrival in Tangier was smooth and easy. We took the ferry from Tarifa, Spain — a quiet and pleasant 45-minute journey across the sea, costing around €60. A taxi arranged by the hotel was waiting for us at the port, though it took a moment to identify the right driver, as several approached us at the exit. It’s important to be cautious to avoid inflated tourist prices. Upon arriving at the hotel, we were immediately welcomed with tea by the pool in the lush and beautifully maintained garden. We ordered lunch and later enjoyed a deeply relaxing massage — a perfect way to begin our stay. Our suite was spacious and elegant, tastefully decorated with antique furniture and a refined color palette. It featured a private terrace overlooking the city, indoor plants, and a large bathroom with a bathtub — a detail we especially appreciated. In the evening, we had a delicious tagine dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. As we visited in May, during the low season, the atmosphere was calm and intimate. Exploring Tangier was easy and enjoyable without a guide. The city is very welcoming to tourists, making it simple to navigate the market and visit cultural sites freely. Overall, this was a high-quality, peaceful experience — the ideal base for discovering Tangier.

A very small detail: I had hoped to wear an evening dress and asked if it could be ironed, but unfortunately, this wasn’t possible — I received a polite but negative response from two different staff members. That said, it was a very minor inconvenience in what was otherwise an exceptional experience.

Sandra took really good care of everyone throughout, she seemed to be around every time we returned or went out of the hotel and took exceptional care and attention to detail with any requests. She is a huge asset to the property and definitely goes the extra mile to ensure the guests are happy.

There wasn’t anything we didn’t like but felt that Sandra could have been supported better by the team checking the buffet during breakfast as she seemed to be responsible for restocking items, touching base with the guests and also checking people out at reception all at the same time, she was a little overstretched sometimes.

Everything! The room was immaculate and had a great view of the equally stunning courtyard, with a small swimming pool and tons of scenic, beautiful greenery. The staff were also incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful to me, especially for my first time in Tangier. Although my flight arrived late at night, the staff provided me with plentiful options for a late night dinner in the nearby area. I also opted to have a hammam during my stay, which was incredibly rejuvenating and relaxing after a long day walking around the town in the sun.

That I only got to stay here for one night!

Peaceful hotel run by friendly Canadians passionate about music. Location is perfect near the old town, the hotel is in a quiet neighbourhood far from a main road. Spacious and clean rooms, comfortable beds, cosy living rooms. Fireplace kept well stocked by an amicable member of staff that will keep you entertained with his wild Swedish adventures. The hotel manager and the rest of the team have plenty of helpful suggestions on what to do. Dinners on site were delicious. The view from the two suites on the top floor is stunning.

Whilst the hotel is overall quiet given nature of clients and hotel location, the sound insulation between the two suites on the top floor could be improved. Few other details could be improved too (e.g. no shower head holder in the room).
