We had a wonderful stay here in Kathmandu! From the moment we arrived, the experience was exceptional. The owner was incredibly kind—he was actually waiting for us at the airport when we landed, which made our arrival so smooth and welcoming. Throughout our stay, he helped us organize transportation and taxis, making it really easy to get around the city. The hotel itself is very clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. You can tell a lot of care goes into keeping the place nice for guests. Everyone on the staff was helpful and attentive, always ready to assist with anything we needed. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kathmandu: it truly felt like a home away from home.

I always feel like family when I stay at Hotel Family Ties! Especially as a first time traveler to Nepal, Narayan, his family and staff will make certain you have all the best information and necessary resources for whatever activities you are planning. Narayan has waited for me outside the international arrival doors at the airport, made travel arrangements so I could sit on a luxury bus with single seats on one side (no one in a seat beside sleeping on my shoulder!), been up at 3:30am to walk me with my bags to catch a long distance Jeep at a specially arranged pickup spot nearby, listened and took the time to plan a trek suitable for an 'older' single woman and exchanged my money at an higher rate than the money changers in Thamel. I am so thankful for his many kindnesses over the years. The Family Ties Hotel itself is very comfortable with attached bathrooms, balconies, the best showerheads, delicious meals and a great location just out of the main traffic and noise of Thamel. There is a lovely rooftop sitting area and a garden area on the main floor along with the restaurant inside. It's also convenient to have a wonderful massage at the Seeings Hands blind massage center just a short distance away. To me, the Hotel Family Ties is 'Home away from home' in Kathmandu. I feel certain you will agree!

My experience at hotel Family Ties was nothing short of perfect... The owner Narayan was extremely helpful with everything, and even took great care of me when I fell sick. Narayan helped me with booking a last minute night bus to Lumbini the day of, as well as planing an entire itinerary for my trip to Pokhara (which ended up being the best experience I have EVER had!). After a long day of touring around Kathmandu, you'll be back at Family Ties and met with smiles, a comfortable bed, amazing WiFi, hot water, and easy-to-access food/dining. Narayan and his staff cheerfully provided all of our expectations. The airport shuttle was a cost effective travel choice. Our flight was delayed and Narayan and the driver tracked our flight. It was wonderful to see our name in a sea of unknown faces upon arriving in an unknown country. The rooftop garden area was an exceptional place to share our last delicious breakfast in Nepal. I highly recommend Narayan and his staff at Hotel Family Ties!

- The rooftop terrace was the highlight of this hotel! I enjoyed my breakfasts there. - The hotel was located in a quiet area in Thamel, only a short walking distance from the busier parts of Kathmandu. - The owner of the hotel was very friendly. - The room size was good for one person. The balcony was great, too.

- The breakfast was rather small - but tasty. - I stayed for three nights but my room was not cleaned while being there. (Maybe that’s the hotel policy.) - The shower worked well but it takes time before the water gets warm. It’s a waste of energy to keep the water running while waiting it to get warmer.

Everything from room comfort to support from staff with great value .. there is a super breakfast choice and a trekking agency on site to support the large choice of activities that you can do across Nepal .., really exceptional friendly home from home I have stayed in many thamel hotels and this was the best by far.. highly recommend and I will visit again in the future .. thank you to Narayan and his staff

That I could not stay longer

The service was excellent. Room service was efficient and punctual. Breakfast had a reasonable spread and the quality was good. Every request was attended promptly by Mr. Narayan, the Manager.

The supply of hot water was not as smooth as we would have liked. There is no lift and hence one had to climb stairs.

The room and bed were incredibly comfortable, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. I’d also like to express my special thanks to the owner for providing airport transfer services and helping me and my companion with arranging bus tickets to Pokhara. Without your help, our trip wouldn’t have been so smooth. We are truly grateful!
