The hotel has a charming medieval restaurant on the main square of historic Bredevoort with excellent home-baked cakes and a decent lunch/dinner menu. This is also where we were served breakfast. The 7 hotel rooms were in a separate restored building behind the restaurant. The new owners of the hotel/restaurant (and most of the staff) are really friendly and welcoming. The town of Bredevoort and the surrounding area are stunning and we just adored our hikes and cycling trips. We also just enjoyed drinking a beer on the terrace.

Our hotel room (#6) was a bit cramped and stuffy and far too warm at night (the fan didn't really do a proper job). The breakfast was fine although it was exactly the same 3 mornings in a row (a lot of bread). My dinner (vegetarian bowl) was disappointing. The young waiters were inexperienced and could have used more guidance. We were a bit disappointed that the 'hotel' was not a proper hotel with a lobby and other services.

It is an authentic & charming old tavern. The room I stayed in was located in another building behind the Bertram, though belonging to it. The bed was good, & the room and bedroom were cleaned each day. Breakfast was not a buffet, but was brought to you. It was abundant & more than enough for me. The terrace is nice & very large.

It was not possible to opt out of the everyday provision of a new set of towels. As I don’t think I am that dirty, I am able to do with the same towel for more than 1 day. I found the room a bit warm to sleep in comfortably, but that is a personal preference.

An exceptional historic timber framed hotel, great food and ambience. No 5 star gym or pool .....just interesting medieval history, located in the most beautiful village, clean rooms and very helpful staff! Will be visiting again.

The staff, the breakfast, dinner, and the location. Great food, staff is super nice, and clean. The room is very simple and small, but comfortable. It worth what you pay. Good shower as well.

Staffs hospitality, cleanliness and location. Excellent value for money. I was surprised to find breakfast included.

Breakfast was very complete. Great that they asked us if we wanted more coffee.
