There are 7 rooms in this hotel, with a common area for eating, common deck looking over the water, coffee always available. We booked 5 rooms for our sons’s wedding and it was perfect! It was very private, clean & the staff was exceptional! Breakfast became a favorite for us, various breads, jam, yogurt, fresh fruit, boiled egg, butter, meat & cheese. The little town was lovely and easy to navigate - all rooms had AC, dinner one night at the steakhouse was very good- we had wedding plans the rest of the time, or we would have gone every night.

The rooms were lovely, even my eldest daughter was impressed which is something. The rooms were clean & we loved the high ceilings. Bathroom was spacious & clean, shower was great. What I would say is that a little instruction on how to keep the lights on in the room & bathroom wouldn't go a miss. Once we'd figured it out it was no problem. Location is great & so quiet & beautiful. Ideal place for walks & a bit of exploring the area. Breakfast was really good & went down well, unfortunately my youngest daughter is quite fussy so breakfast wasn't really her thing.

Communication could be a bit better. Id received an email asking if we wanted breakfast on the Saturday which we replied with yes we'd like breakfast. I had asked if they were able to book a table in the steakcafe which is also in the hotel. Unfortunately it was not communicated that it was separate from the hotel. So we arrived after a day travelling only to find no reservation for dinner. Luckily there are some places nearby where we could have dinner. I'm not sure if it was my misunderstanding.

The location was very good as it was in the center of the main city part. It is nearby lots of resturants and the building the hotel is located in it very beautiful. Although it is a little pricy the room was very nice with tall ceilings and with a lovely bathroom.

I have minimal things which I did not like. Some people may not like the fact that they had no real reception but during normal working hours there was the cleaning crew/people that were part of the hotel you could ask questions to or voice any concerns, therefore it was not a majo problem during my stay.

Lovely little place, just a few rooms that all open to a central room where they serve breakfast. Clean, modern, a nice little patio right on a water passage. The staff was very friendly, gracious and welcoming.

Although the rooms were nice and clean and modern, there was no place to hang clothes for a multi-night stay. Also, while a lovely and spacious shower, no place to put shampoo, soap, etc. The breakfast was expensive and underwhelming.

We knew this building as the original tourist information office when he had lived in this town in the early 1980s, so we were intrigued to see what it was like as a boutique hotel. We weren’t disappointed.

It was not warm enough and,though we asked for this to be rectified, our rooms felt only marginally warmer. There were high winds on the first night of our visit and during the following day and this may have been part of the problem. I wonder if the outer door of the building being constantly open didn’t help. It was also exceptionally low daytime temperatures for the time of year but I would have expected there to be adequate heating to counteract these. This is the only reason that I haven’t given full marks in every category for this otherwise wonderful hotel.

This was the second time we stayed at the Hotel de Oude Veste and we were not disappointed. Exceptional deluxe room overlooking the river. Extremely comfortable and very well-appointed. Secure storage for our e-blkes. Very good breakfast served by extremely friendly and helpful staff. Would have no hesitation in staying here again!

Enormous room, bed and bathroom. Immaculate presentation. Characterful building overlooking historic harbour. Excellent bike storage. Breakfast looked and smelled good, although we did not take up the option.

Self check-in required recovering electronic key cards from a key lock box. The code for the lock box was sent by email at 10.48, We were travelling without data roaming, so did not receive the code. We had to try to access random Wifi in order to find the code. Not all oveeseas travellers have mobile data roaming. A message sent the previous evening would solve this problem.

Fantastic location, the room was lovely, I just wish I was staying there long enough to enjoy it more...

The bar/restaurant that is attached to the hotel we very un-helpful and quite rude to me. I had walked into the bar area, which was empty, and asked if I could get a table for one for dinner. eventually, a waiter came over and said, "have you booked?" I said I hadn't as I didn't know, or thought I had to as it wasn't very busy. He said there was no room, and I would have to go elsewhere. I asked him if I could just sit at one of the empty tables or take it to my room as I was staying at this hotel, but he just said no. I appreciate the hotel and restaurant are separate, but they should be more accommodating. Plus they missed out on 80 Euros for 30 mins effort, which I spent elsewhere.
