Really there's only one option in Meppel, but pleased to report the City Hotel is well up to standard. The room was spacious and well appointed. The bathroom was clean - with a really nice shower. My wife appreciated BBC channels in English on the TV. Breakfast in the morning was delicious - much better than we've had elsewhere in the Netherlands.

I always think self check in is a bit impersonal - and I don't like that there's no one around should anything be wrong (there wasn't in this case). We did see the owner in the morning for breakfast though - and she was very pleasant.

Great location, clean, large room.

Booked for 2 twin beds but they were basically 2 twin beds made in to one large bed. Texted to ask for a different room with 2 separate beds but they wanted us to pay for another room. We were able to push the beds 4 inches apart.

Perfect sized room for one. Good shower. Fluffy towels. Decent bed linen. Good location close to the shops and restaurants but in a residential area so quiet. Had a secure garage for my bike.

Being picky - the toilet roll was too far away to reach without dismounting!

The property was easy to find, self check in, bed was small but comfortable, the property was clean, I would recommend it for a short stay

The room was slightly cold even with the thermostat set on the highest temperature, there was no bags in the garbage bins

Little hotel with only breakfast being served (did not try, but the smell of bacon was really lovely). The location is perfect, only one minute to Lidl and Jumbo supermarkets and the city centre within three minute walk. My room (2) had a separate door directly to the park park, beds are comfy... I really enjoyed my stay :)

Room, staff, breakfasts, location all great!! Hosts were amazing, my husband hurt his back on the last day and they made calls and drove us to places in search for crutches. They went above and beyond with their hostility. We highly recommend!!

location is good: quiet (no road noise), close to town centre and canals. charming and capable staff. good off-road parking for motorbike,.

The stairs are steep. if that is difficult for you then ask for a downstairs room. it’s a bit echo-ey. someone was moving furniture at 01:00 .

We biked to this hotel from Amsterdam, and it was a great place to stay in a nice little town. Close to places to eat, clean, and bike friendly.

We stored our bikes in our rooms, which were plenty large, but those of us on the second floor had to get the bikes up a very steep stairway.

The hotel has a great central location which meant that town restaurants and sights were easily walkable. The room was well presented and clean. The breakfast was lovely The owners were friendly and welcoming

Just a little hard to find but worth the effort.
