An excellent hotel in Popoyo, 2 mins walk from the beach and just a few mins to other local businesses (shop, coffee, bar). The staff were super friendly and helpful with anything that was needed including taxis and transfers. The food was good overall. The rooms were very stylish, spacious and comfortable.

There were a few shabby signs; for example the sun lounger covers are very dirty and faded. It's not right on the beach (a known when booking, but not reflected by price) and although there is an easy walk through and beach section there are no sunloungers to relax in on the beach. I really think a few tweaks could bring this hotel to the top of the local pack!

Getting into the place from Managua was pretty straightforward and quick (there's a new road to get there). There are still some construction in the road but nothing to worry about. The only thing you need to know is that there are like 2km of dirty road that you need to drive a little slow if you are not in a 4x4. Beach is great and the place is pretty secure with no risk of robbery, you can basically walk at 8pm in the surroundings. Food was amazing, exceeded our expectations, it was cheap with organic ingredients and good portions. There's a small fridge in the room and there's not a washer machine (at least not in mine). Staff is very friendly and kind, Jadi (or Hadi) recommended great places to eat and Jennifer was a great server and was great to speak with her. I will be back again for sure!

The service and the staff was exceptional! Everyone was very helpful and positive. The rooms are spacious, excellent design and very comfortable. Food was also one of the best I had so far, everything was fresh. They were also very helpful with arranging transportation and excursions. I had the best surf teacher, thank you Jared!

I wish the road from Managua airport was better but it's not Malibu Popoyo's fault for sure!

Beautiful hotel with very comfy rooms. Offers a really nice and well equipped yoga space. Excellent yoga and surf teachers. They did not charge us for one board rental, which was nice.

Food was rather medium and options for vegetarians were limited. We had expected more. We felt like hotel management cares more about profit then the guests. Due to a medical incident we had to replan our whole trip. We tried reaching Malibu via several channels for two days. After finally getting in contact with Malibu, we only received a brief last minute answer that cancelations are not possible. At least they were nice enough to let us reschedule our stay, which was still quite inconvenient for us, though. There, the first contact with the management was him telling us that another client had cancelled and if we would like to extend our stay. Not a very empathetic idea since my partner wasn’t even able to take advantage of the surf lessons, due to her medical situation. The manager rather questioned the doctors diagnosis. On top, when we asked the hotel to book us a taxi to Rivas they arranged one for $50 without even telling us. Which is almost double the regular price. We don’t know if they wanted to make some extra money that way. We felt a bit fooled. All in all, communication was not good. We would have expected a better customer experience from a hotel in that price segment.
