Historic well maintained hotel surrounded by beautiful nature. We had a very enjoyable stay at Geilo Hotel. The location is perfect, just a short walk from the train station. Check-in and check-out were smooth and hassle free. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were warm and welcoming. A special mention to Maria in the reception, who treated us exceptionally well. she was truly lovely and made our stay even more pleasant. I especially appreciated the cozy atmosphere and the delicious breakfast each morning. I would definitely come back again!

wide range of good foods for breakfast sets you up for the day. Dinner changes nightly and we had some good local produce done well, which is definitely what we were hoping for. Many of the staff were really good, very friendly, thoughtful and kind. Sitting by the log fire was really nice. Kids loved the husky hot chocolate. The sauna and steam room were not busy, clean and very nice to have after a day's skiing. Great to have a table tennis room and gym also. Views over to the mountains and slopes were wonderful. Rooms clean, cozy and beds were dreamily soft. Bathrooms nice and clean also and housekeeping very good. NYE fireworks and sparklers were fun. The location is great - 5 minutes walk from the station that really made the whole holiday a walkable thing. It's a pleasant but longer walk to Vestlia but there's also the ski bus shuttle running fairly frequently. Getting the Olso - Bergen train was a really nice feature of the holiday. Great how the hotel has been modernised but retained boutique character and relevance to its place and history.

maybe espresso drinks offered although the free pour filter coffee was itself very decent - much better than "conference coffee" in US/other European hotels the bar staffed a little more attentively (reckon maybe there was a lot of revenue not made in Christmas to New Year) wifi was free and importantly connection also simple. sometimes patchy in the rooms but fine really throughout. I had to work during vacation and it was no issue.

My daughter needed to borrow a plug adapter because the “universal” adapter that she purchased did not work. The front desk staff said that the hotel’s adapter was not at the desk. When we explained that we had an urgent need due to a student visa issue. She called the hotel down the street and made arrangements for us to use their plug adapter and wi-fi. We greatly appreciated her extra efforts to help my daughter.

The breakfast was okay but not as good as some of the other hotel breakfasts we have had here in Norway

Everything was great except for the receptionist at check-in and the fact that there was no elevator. The bed was very comfortable, and the room had both a desk and a separate table with a chair, plus a large window that could be opened for fresh air, making the stay pleasant. Breakfast was enjoyable as well. It was a bit noisy when trains passed by, but only for a short time, so it wasn’t a big issue. The room was clean, functional, and comfortable — I would definitely stay here again.

The room was comfortable and the hotel had charm with comfy places to sit and visit with friends. Interesting decor with many antiques. It was a good location and would be particularly nice to watching skiing from the nearby mountains.

The breakfast was average compared to other places in Norway. There were not enough trained staff to keep up with the breakfast crowd. Both coffee makers were empty, dishes were not cleared from tables and food replenished. Having extra staff in the dining area would have been better. The woman working was friendly and doing the best she could!

Superb views, plenty of free safe parking and electric chargers if you need them. Food and drinks service were exceptional. Great staff.

We stayed here during what is described as unseasonably high temperatures. Our room was uncomfortably warm - making it really difficult or impossible to sleep. Air conditioning is a must!!!!! Fit it alongside with solar and save the running costs. Charge extra for air conditioning.

Lovely location for scenic walks and conveniently very close to Geilo stasjon. Spacious, comfortable room ensuite with a sofa and a mountain view as requested. Quiet. Sockets for charging. Excellent breakfast was much appreciated. Friendly, helpful staff. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.

Set three course menu for the evening meal on the Sunday, instead of à la carte. [Although understand the reason for this].

Brilliant location - 5 minutes walk from the main town and train station. Extremely helpful and accommodating staff. Nice warm room with beautiful views. Fantastic breakfast.

We hadn't realised there was no kettle or coffee maker available in the room, and only realised on the last day we could have filled a thermos of hot water (free) or coffee (45nok) from the restaurant each day. Limited choices for dinner at the hotel restaurant although there are several restaurants within close walking distance. The beds are singles which are pushed together which was fine but less comfortable than a double or king bed.

The lobby was very cozy, our room was spacious, bed linen was fresh and clean.

The room looked a bit worn and could use some attention. There were noticeable details such as old stains on the carpet both in the room and the breakfast area, as well as a heavily used sofa and armchairs in the room. The room lacked day curtains, only blackout ones were provided. And there was no kettle available.

The ambience of the hotel is great, with lots of cosy spaces to sit and enjoy company or surroundings. It is close to the town centre for supplies and to walk around. Very easy check in with friendly staff who have good recommendations. The buffet breakfast was delicious with a huge variety of options including incredible fresh bread.

Toilet paper is 1ply, very budget for such a nice establishment
