Great location, close to all city shops etc. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing.

Room is a touch on the smaller side for the price. But you have to understand you are paying for convenience.

The hotel is situated in a perfected location with joint access to a lovely restaurant next door. It’s no more than a 5 minute walk to the harbour. There are buses within a 2 minute walk to easily access the airport and other destinations. The staff are super friendly and make you feel very welcome. The rooms are decorated nicely and are very clean, the beds are comfortable and the room is kept warm so you don’t feel the cold in the winter months. We had lovely views of the church and the mountains. The breakfast was very nice and run from very early to 10:30 each morning, there was so much choice.

I can’t find any faults with the hotel.

The overall stay was great. The breakfasts were amazing, the services as cleaning on top. The bedroom was comfortable and the beds were amazing with TV for shared device to connect to Netflix, Spotify, etc.. Location of the hotel is one of the best locations possible bus stops in 100 metres from the hotel (bus to the rest of the city, bus from/to the airport) and with great location for most of the guide trips that I took (5 minutes by walk).

I would appreciate some basic cutlery in the rooms. As my stay was with breakfast only, I was buying some food in nearby shop (1 minute from hotel), however when I returned, I realized there are no forks, knives, spoons. Which meant additional expenses to buy some one-time use cutlery in the shop. The rooms had cups for coffee/tea and wine glasses.

The room was spacious and provided some space to hang our coats. It lacked the usual luggage rack or any closed space (drawers, wardrobe) to store clothes. The bed was spacious and very comfortable to sleep in. Overall, the room offered plenty of space to also sit and relax. Bathroom was spacious and had a huge walk-in shower with good pressure and temperature. Nothing really to complain here, apart from a broken toilet seat cover (might have been difficult to repair over the Easter holidays). The breakfast was pretty awesome. The hot food sections had nice fried veggies, roasted cauliflower, omelette, eggs in all possible preparations, bacon, ... The cold cuts sections had several meat cuts and sausages, in addition to a good cheese selection. Really nothing missing here. Lactose and gluten free options were also available. Several freshly baked breads were provided. Good selection of muesli ingredients. The coffee was a wide choice of Nespresso capsules.

The room could have been cleaned better. We were greeted by several dust rolls. The weekend breakfast started at 8:00 which was a bit late for us.

Really nice hotel, so glad we chose this hotel brand! We had a great room on the 9th floor overlooking the city and fjord. Clean, comfortable and good hot showers! Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice and we loved the lounge for free tea, coffee and sparkling water and a game of shuffleboard during downtime! They have a locked basement area to store luggage after check out and they allowed us to hang out in the lounge while we waited for a late ferry which was very kind! The attached Ego restaurant is reasonable value and quality for Tromso and offers 10% off for hotel guests.

Rooms could be a little bit hot, and beds very soft

Great location, good variety of options at breakfast, staff were friendly and helpful, room cleaning was done daily, given it was fully booked we were surprised at how quiet it was which was fantastic. We would stay again.

The room was small and not enough holding space for 2 suitcases but we managed. We visited at Christmas time and there wasn't much Christmas atmosphere at all.

Thon Polar is in an excellent location. Very close to all the shops, restaurants, bus stops ect.. The staff is very friendly and full of information and offered me the biggest room they could that did not change my booking. The shuffle board in the hotel lobby was a nice plus to our visit. The beds are extremely comfortable and the room was lager than I thought it would be. Be carful with the turning off the electricity card on the wall as it turns off the fridge too. The breakfast is top notch! Everything you could want is there plus some. I love the fresh baked breads.

There were two pillars in the middle of our room, one next to the bed that made getting off the bed on that side a little difficult. The shower is very small. and the key card turns off the refrigerator.

The hotel rooms were modern and well-kept. The location was perfect-- close to the center of the action.

The room temperatures cannot be adjusted (at least in our rooms there was no way to do this) and it was quite hot. You cannot open a window to cool it down either. The rooms were quite small but that's how it is in Europe in general. They nickel and dime you (you have to RENT an umbrella, if you need one for example).

Our room was small, with a large window which lookout onto a roof area, and further back the walls other buildings, so natural lighting flowed into the room. A small fridge, electric kettle for tea making. Bathroom was compact, though with a comfortable layout. Quarter circle curved style shower recess, excellent flow of hot water and a sensible shower rose with good coverage. Bright well-lit bathroom, ample supply of thick towels. Our stay should have been two nights however in our previous destination our Hurtigruten vessel did not pick up passengers due to bad weather, so one night only in Hotel Polar. At night our room 258 had noises coming from the floor area above, as if someone was doing light maintenance, disturbing, on and off as it was after midnight and between 3and 4 am. Breakfast as with all Thon hotels we used was excellent.
