Room was very comfortable, modern and very clean. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was delicious and very reasonably priced. The gentleman who was on reception when we arrived was so helpful - he spoke English which was good as I can't speak Portuguese. The number entry code for the building and the room was the same , no need for a key or key card. Plenty of off road parking. Located in a pretty village just outside Braganza.

Wi-Fi was not very good - signal was weak.

This hotel is set up for such easy access, you almost have to stay here just to experience it. All is done with access codes, from the entrance door to your keyless, spotlessly clean, room. Our only disappointment was that the restaurant was closed, as it was a Sunday night. It was a shame, as it has great reviews, but we did have a pleasant breakfast before our morning departure. We would definitely stay here again in the future.

Convenient location for stopover after Douro Valley tour on the way to Bilbao for the ferry. Plenty of free parking and outside seating. Keypad to enter the room so no keys to worry about. Restaurant on site for evening meal which was very reasonable ( huge steak so you can order a half portion for 9 euros, the fish was a good size as well ( maybe order a half size of this too?) and local jacket potatoes are yummy). Breakfast was good - cereal, fruit juice, bread, ham, cheese, fruit with tea and coffee.

Maybe have some veggie options as a main meal?

Clean, modern, secure for my motorbike and excellent restaurant. Ideal for passing through or a longer stay due to it's closeness to Braganca. Rural away from the city but close too. Pleasant village and surroundings.

Just a bit of confusion over breakfast. It turns out it's not in the restaurant but no one told me. It's a short walk down the road apparently. I was travelling and couldn't wait so I missed out.

This was perfect for a one-night stay. The entire hotel is very clean, and the room is basic and comfortable for one night. Electric black-out blinds were great! Good storage. There was plenty of hot water and good water pressure in the shower. Communication was clear and even though breakfast is listed as starting at 8am, there was food laid out and coffee available as early as 7:30am, which was appreciated, and the breakfast room attendant was very friendly. The best part of this hotel is the adjoining restaurant for dinner. Absolutely amazing steak and house wine and you MUST try their fries!

Hotel is sterile and everything echos. It was not a problem as there didn't seem to be a lot of other guests, but there is no soundproofing. The lighting in the rooms is a harsh florescent and the bedding is a synthetic material that doesn't breathe. The refrigerator had a strap around it and the signage seemed to indicate that if you broke it, you would be charged for the mini bar contents, so we had to leave our food in the car (we were on a road trip).

The O Abel Hotel was 100% better than I expected, fantastic level of finish in the rooms , very new and done with a lot of thought. Would definitely stop again.

Not a lot can be done about this , but when looking on google earth you see a run down car park and frontage, this doesn’t reflect the hotel at all or the restaurant, but could put perspective customer off .

Good quality and selection at breakfast. Quiet room and location. Interesting old village river and bridges. Entry to the hotel was by key pad and code which they had tried to send me by text message without success but the manager soon arrived to explain and give us access.

The restaurant was closed on Sunday night, but there was a good one 300m up the road.

The room was superb with air conditioning, fridge and access to the olive tree garden. The parking was very good and shaded from the sun. The restaurant and menu were just great and breakfast was more than adequate. The nearby river was beautiful and just a short walk from the hotel.

The staff was great. The front desk gentleman helped us with deciding where to go and what was worth seeing. We got there around 7:30 pm and were hungry. We did not feel like driving so we ate at their restaurant. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was also very nice. The place was clean and very welcoming. Glad we stayed there.

The restaurant in the evening was great. The choice at breakfast was very good. The room was clean, comfortable and a good size. The staff and Managment were friendly and helpfull.

Nothing. Some other guests came in making loads of noise around 2am but that wasn’t the hotels fault. The hotel has done everything they can to make your stay comfortable.
