We enjoyed our stay at the pousada very much, the views were out of a fairy tale, the pool was a bonus after a hot day of exploring the magical village nearby, and the breakfast was delicious in an elegant dining room. The room was very comfortable and the balcony provided a beautiful view of the castle and the countryside. The service was exceptional, starting with Ivandro at the front desk, who was very helpful and knowledgeable about places to visit and fine restaurants to try in Braganca. We appreciated his enthusiasm and kindness.

We liked everything about the pousada. And we will return.

Lovely location, well signposted. All the rooms give views over the town and castle. The balconies are a nice touch have. The Michelin restaurant was a pleasant surprise and although at the higher end of cost, we found it superb, the care attention and food were excellent along with the explanations and wines provided with the food. Thoroughly recommended but it certainly is not low cost so be forewarned but you won’t be disappointed with what you receive. The staff are extremely friendly, as helpful as they can be. Would have no issues using the hotel,again.

Certainly facilities were not prepared, but that didn’t distract. Also, a little TLC on areas that a new coat of paint wouldn’t go amiss nor would a little gardening to suppress the weed, again it didn’t ditract too much from the enjoying the stay.

Fantastic staff, especially reception manager Ivandro Lacerda, who is an excellent Trás-os-Montes guide. He told us about the region and the hotel's incredible history, about restaurants and places to see, and that the Braganca Castle's shape is a heart when you see it from the air. He knows everything about the architect who designed the hotel project and its subsequent renovations. We were also very impressed by the G restaurant, the service, the food and the whole atmosphere. After dinner, the chef gave us the paper with the menu and the names of all the restaurant team who worked for us that evening. The view to the Castle from the balconies (we stayed 2 times) is awesome. The interiors are stylish. The historic details from the 50s are perfectly restored, please pay attention to the floor at the breakfast room, to the central stairs including the tapestry. This pousada is a hidden treasure.

The front desk staff went over and beyond to help us, we travelled with our small dachshund, and they facilitated a early check in. They were extremely knowledgeable and helpful at all times. The rooms are spacious and the double bed was extremely comfortable. The view from the room is superb especially at night with the castle lit up in the distance. They provided a dog bed and bowls. Breakfast was first class with plenty of variety.

The hotel does need some renovations, especially the grounds and pool area, the sunchairs need some new cushions. The pool does need some new tiles, and grass area needs treating as there are far too many wasps.

The staff were friendly and polite The room was large, comfortable and clean, with two armchairs and a balcony with a lovely view of Braganca castle. Although the bed was very comfortable, the duvet was thick and heavy (the outside temperature was 34 degrees when we arrived). A fan in the room to supplement the under-powered air conditioning (initially not working) would have been nice but I was told none were available. The room had no safe and no kettle, coffee machine or hospitality tray, just a glass bottle of (tap?) water and two glasses. Admittedly, the specification didn't list these things, but I hadn't properly checked it and just expected a pousada to have a certain level of provision. The bathroom was well appointed, but would benefit from better lighting. The breakfast was very good.

The hotel restaurant, where we would have chosen to have eaten, had recently acquired a Michelin star and only offered expensive set menus and no a la carte dishes. We decided to go instead to the Solar Bragancano, close to the cathedral, where we had a fantastic meal in atmospheric surroundings and at a fraction of the price we would have paid at the pousada. It was a much better option, despite the 20 min uphill walk back to the hotel from the town centre.

The staff were amazing, the room was ok but the bathroom was very dated and felt the price did not reflect this, compared to other hotels we stayed in. The Michelin starred restaurant was out of this world and we felt very pampered for 2 hours by the waiting staff and chef! It was expensive, but worth every penny! The breakfast was very good too. We had a great stay and feel bad marking them down, but I think the bathrooms need to be modernized. The view over the castle was fabulous from our room.

The peace and tranquility of the public areas. The on site Michelin Star restaurant. The choices of food at breakfast. The outdoor pool and surrounding area. The spacious rooms with comfortable and shaded and very private balconies, with fantastic views. The great car park. The friendly and welcoming and very helpful staff, every single one of them.

The air conditioning system is not that effective on very hot days. The plug sockets are plentiful but quite low and not near the dressing table mirror (for ladies).

I enjoyed my time there. Pleasant room with a balcony and view across to the city Breakfast room with glass windows and view of trees and the city. There is a tree growing through the floor of the breakfast room and out through the window; ace! Good breakfast choice. Friendly staff at reception and breakfast

I didn't dislike anything but two points to note: It is a bit of a walk downhill (ahem, it's uphill coming back) and over the river via parks and footbridges to get to the historic centre. The hotel is an independent hotel marketed through but not managed by Pestana Pousadas, so for example you will not accrue Pestana Guest club points here.

A beautiful and tranquil setting. The hotel sits atop a hill, offering perfect views of the castle and parts of the town below. All rooms appear to face the view and feature private terraces. The pool and outdoor seating areas are also very well designed and inviting. After a long drive, this was the perfect place for us to recharge. We were warmly welcomed by Ivandro and quickly settled in. The on-site G Pousada restaurant, a Michelin-starred gem, exceeded our expectations—dinner was absolutely flawless.

Checkin was fast and before long we were in a lovely room with the most amazing views to the castle. The bar area was comfortable with an extensive drinks list. Breakfast had a great selection of fruits, breads, cakes, local cheeses, cereals and a hot selection...enough to satisfy you. The pool area was clean & the pool a perfect temperature and a lovely touch of a 'free bar' - some drinks, fruit and even a few rolls - a perfect way to spend an afternoon. We treated ourselves to dinner with wine pairing in the Michelin star rated restaurant in the hotel - a truely exceptional experience. Every member if staff we encountered were friendly & helpful. We had 3 fab night's and hope to repeat one day in the future.

The only thing for me was the bed was a little hard for my preference - and that is just my preference.
