Lovely location, well signposted. All the rooms give views over the town and castle. The balconies are a nice touch have. The Michelin restaurant was a pleasant surprise and although at the higher end of cost, we found it superb, the care attention and food were excellent along with the explanations and wines provided with the food. Thoroughly recommended but it certainly is not low cost so be forewarned but you won’t be disappointed with what you receive. The staff are extremely friendly, as helpful as they can be. Would have no issues using the hotel,again.

Certainly facilities were not prepared, but that didn’t distract. Also, a little TLC on areas that a new coat of paint wouldn’t go amiss nor would a little gardening to suppress the weed, again it didn’t ditract too much from the enjoying the stay.

The staff were friendly and polite The room was large, comfortable and clean, with two armchairs and a balcony with a lovely view of Braganca castle. Although the bed was very comfortable, the duvet was thick and heavy (the outside temperature was 34 degrees when we arrived). A fan in the room to supplement the under-powered air conditioning (initially not working) would have been nice but I was told none were available. The room had no safe and no kettle, coffee machine or hospitality tray, just a glass bottle of (tap?) water and two glasses. Admittedly, the specification didn't list these things, but I hadn't properly checked it and just expected a pousada to have a certain level of provision. The bathroom was well appointed, but would benefit from better lighting. The breakfast was very good.

The hotel restaurant, where we would have chosen to have eaten, had recently acquired a Michelin star and only offered expensive set menus and no a la carte dishes. We decided to go instead to the Solar Bragancano, close to the cathedral, where we had a fantastic meal in atmospheric surroundings and at a fraction of the price we would have paid at the pousada. It was a much better option, despite the 20 min uphill walk back to the hotel from the town centre.

The staff were amazing, the room was ok but the bathroom was very dated and felt the price did not reflect this, compared to other hotels we stayed in. The Michelin starred restaurant was out of this world and we felt very pampered for 2 hours by the waiting staff and chef! It was expensive, but worth every penny! The breakfast was very good too. We had a great stay and feel bad marking them down, but I think the bathrooms need to be modernized. The view over the castle was fabulous from our room.

I enjoyed my time there. Pleasant room with a balcony and view across to the city Breakfast room with glass windows and view of trees and the city. There is a tree growing through the floor of the breakfast room and out through the window; ace! Good breakfast choice. Friendly staff at reception and breakfast

I didn't dislike anything but two points to note: It is a bit of a walk downhill (ahem, it's uphill coming back) and over the river via parks and footbridges to get to the historic centre. The hotel is an independent hotel marketed through but not managed by Pestana Pousadas, so for example you will not accrue Pestana Guest club points here.

A beautiful and tranquil setting. The hotel sits atop a hill, offering perfect views of the castle and parts of the town below. All rooms appear to face the view and feature private terraces. The pool and outdoor seating areas are also very well designed and inviting. After a long drive, this was the perfect place for us to recharge. We were warmly welcomed by Ivandro and quickly settled in. The on-site G Pousada restaurant, a Michelin-starred gem, exceeded our expectations—dinner was absolutely flawless.

Checkin was fast and before long we were in a lovely room with the most amazing views to the castle. The bar area was comfortable with an extensive drinks list. Breakfast had a great selection of fruits, breads, cakes, local cheeses, cereals and a hot selection...enough to satisfy you. The pool area was clean & the pool a perfect temperature and a lovely touch of a 'free bar' - some drinks, fruit and even a few rolls - a perfect way to spend an afternoon. We treated ourselves to dinner with wine pairing in the Michelin star rated restaurant in the hotel - a truely exceptional experience. Every member if staff we encountered were friendly & helpful. We had 3 fab night's and hope to repeat one day in the future.

The only thing for me was the bed was a little hard for my preference - and that is just my preference.

The room was spacious, comfortable and very warm and there was a proper bath, which was a treat. The view of Braganca castle from our balcony was stunning, especially at night. I enjoyed a swim in the pool and was very pleased that the pool was still open. Breakfast. Was excellent, with a wide choice and friendly staff, except for one. You can walk into the town in about 10 to 15 minutes, but there are steep hills to negotiate. There is a Michelin starred restaurant which we didn't try. We are usually happier with more modest fare.

The hotel seemed to somehow lack atmosphere. Perhaps I prefer more traditional decor. There was no kettle provided for tea and coffee. Should be standard in this sort of hotel

The staff were helpful and extremely interesting people and made a lot of difference to our stay. Of course the view was lovely, even in the rain. The hotel itself has an air of 'faded grandeur' to it, which gives it character. Although some things listed weren't actually in the room, the huge bed was extremely comfy and the room was nice and dark, and quiet for sleeping.The breakfast was a buffet and included cooked food, as well as cold meats, cheeses, and so on. There is even a swimming pool (outdoor) and, for us, 2 electric car charging points (free!!). The car park is not officially secure, but a security guard is around and nothing happened to our car nor anything left inside. You can easily walk to the historic sights and back if you are reasonably fit. (a lot of up and down hills!)

There could have been an electric kettle, tea and cups, (given the number of British guests staying!)

An excellent hotel in a great location overlooking the town of Braganca and its' castle. The room had a balcony, which also overlooked the (excellent) pool. Definitely a wow on arrival. Nice touch - a free poolside snack bar, with drinks. The hotel has a Michelin starred restaurant - prices are definitely not cheap, although the various tasting menus all looked tempting. The hotel also has links to a couple of other premium restaurants nearby. We chose to walk into town and found a small restaurant offering exceptional value.

The buffet breakfast was OK, but didn't seem to reflect the hotels' quality somehow.

We loved Isabel at reception and breakfast! Isabel was super attentive and caring. She does an amazing job making people feel cared for and special. Breakfast had fresh fruit with delicious flavours we particularly appreciated. The views from the property are spectacular.

The bed felt old and was not very comfortable. The size was great, but it felt like the hardness/softness was not great. I am allergic to dust mites and had some sneezes. So perhaps they could have a no mat option. A simple comfort that we would have loved to have would be simple tea and coffee facilities in the room.
