A lovely breakfast in this really special rural property which is over 200 years old but has been tastefully refurbished. Some really interesting artefacts and historical rural implements which Diana showed and explained with great enthusiasm. A thoughtful collection of snacks and drinks were also available in the common area and breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented.

Sadly (no fault of the owner or the staff at the Candeias do Souto) we were rudely awakened at 7am by the neighbour who decided it would be a great idea to use a leaf blowing machine to clean the outside area directly outside our room!

A warm welcome by the receptionist who showed us round this beautifully restored farmhouse. Our room was immaculately clean & had everything you would need. We made use of the comfortable lounge & the free tea & coffee on offer. The tables at breakfast were beautifully laid with baskets of bread & plenty of options on offer at the buffet table. We absolutely loved staying here & wished we had booked more than one night.

Absolutely nothing - we loved it. You do need a car to get to the village of Meixedo outside Bragança though.

On entering the building a total sense of calm arrives - it is so cool and quiet - the building is over 200 years old and has been successfully updated to the 21st century blending original features with modern technology. We arrived two hours early but were given a lovely welcome and were able to wait in the lounge with tea/coffee freely available until our room was made ready, Elsa's tour de maison and knowledge of the locality with suggested visits was very interesting and informative. The breakfast was delicious - with usual Portuguese meats/cheese, cereal, fruit, various breads and home-made banana and walnut cakes. We were spoilt for choice! I would recommend this hotel for a long or short stay - it's totally relaxing. Just outside Braganca city where there is a lovely castle and fascinating military museum.

The only thing missing would be a swimming pool - but I appreciate there isn't really the exterior space for this.

The property is a lovingly restored home that feels like a piece of living history without being stuffy. The staff is amazing - warm, friendly, and helpful. The scenery is bucolic with an inviting garden area and additional patio for guests to enjoy. The room was well appointed and the bed was so comfortable. I wish we had an opportunity to stay longer.

There is nothing we didn’t like about the property. Visitors should simply be prepared that it is a bit remote and the wifi can be fussy. Those are minor inconveniences for all you get in exchange.

Great place to relax and unplug from modern life. It is located away from modern life in a rural/traditional house, but still with modern comforts. Close to a national park and nature. Room was good, with modern shower and heating/AC. But attention, this is a place to get away, there are no bars/restaurants in the village, and will you need an independent transportation, so if night life is something you are looking for maybe this place is not ideal for you.

The only weak point is the slow WiFi (signal in the rooms are fine, but the connection is slow), however I would argue that this is a place to relax and unplug, so not really an issue for me.

A beautiful restoration of a rustic property, in a national park, away from everything, a perfect stop on our journey from Spain to Portugal. We felt totally at home, excellent choice wine at the ‘honesty bar’ and complimentary tea/coffee, cake and local preserves. Everything is done with such care and attention to detail. We loved it!

It is important to be aware that there is no cafe, restaurant or shop close by, guests need to know this.

Beautiful converted farmhouse and building, fantastic rooms I got an upgrade free of charge which was really good comfy bed large room good bathroom and spotlessly clean and well presented. Excellent breakfast and very helpful and engaging staff who went out of there way to make the stay really enjoyable, would definitely recommend. Location is in a very quiet small village, peaceful and relaxing.

The s woman managing the property is so nice, helpful and candid. The property in itself it is pretty amazing. The renovation of an old 200year old labour house is very well done. Very quite. Everything is very well looked after and thought through.

Not much. The hair dryer did not work and the a/c had a weird noise at times but I don’t think a/c is really needed (my wife just wanted a bit of cool air).

Tidy, spacious, natural, and everything in a super quiet town in the countryside. The whole place is greatly decorated and the staff tell the story behind the house. - Elsa was super charming, gave us a tour of the house and helped us with tips (for example where to eat deliciously!) and requests. - They shared the garden fruits and had coffee and tea and snacks every evening. Very recommened to stay and discover around.

An amazingly charming inn located about 15 minutes outside of Bragança. It is in a very quiet village and that is exactly what we were looking for, a place to enjoy a restful weekend but close enough to the town. There was coffee and tea available all day, the room was comfortable, the interior of the house (a remodeled stone house) is incredibly charming and beautiful. And there is EV charger which was a big bonus for us!

Since it is in a very quiet village and we came during the low season, there was not any place to eat within walking distance. With a car, it was not a problem for us, but just be aware that you may have to drive to find a cafe or a restaurant.
