I enjoyed my time there. Pleasant room with a balcony and view across to the city Breakfast room with glass windows and view of trees and the city. There is a tree growing through the floor of the breakfast room and out through the window; ace! Good breakfast choice. Friendly staff at reception and breakfast

I didn't dislike anything but two points to note: It is a bit of a walk downhill (ahem, it's uphill coming back) and over the river via parks and footbridges to get to the historic centre. The hotel is an independent hotel marketed through but not managed by Pestana Pousadas, so for example you will not accrue Pestana Guest club points here.

Checkin was fast and before long we were in a lovely room with the most amazing views to the castle. The bar area was comfortable with an extensive drinks list. Breakfast had a great selection of fruits, breads, cakes, local cheeses, cereals and a hot selection...enough to satisfy you. The pool area was clean & the pool a perfect temperature and a lovely touch of a 'free bar' - some drinks, fruit and even a few rolls - a perfect way to spend an afternoon. We treated ourselves to dinner with wine pairing in the Michelin star rated restaurant in the hotel - a truely exceptional experience. Every member if staff we encountered were friendly & helpful. We had 3 fab night's and hope to repeat one day in the future.

The only thing for me was the bed was a little hard for my preference - and that is just my preference.

The room was spacious, comfortable and very warm and there was a proper bath, which was a treat. The view of Braganca castle from our balcony was stunning, especially at night. I enjoyed a swim in the pool and was very pleased that the pool was still open. Breakfast. Was excellent, with a wide choice and friendly staff, except for one. You can walk into the town in about 10 to 15 minutes, but there are steep hills to negotiate. There is a Michelin starred restaurant which we didn't try. We are usually happier with more modest fare.

The hotel seemed to somehow lack atmosphere. Perhaps I prefer more traditional decor. There was no kettle provided for tea and coffee. Should be standard in this sort of hotel

The staff were helpful and extremely interesting people and made a lot of difference to our stay. Of course the view was lovely, even in the rain. The hotel itself has an air of 'faded grandeur' to it, which gives it character. Although some things listed weren't actually in the room, the huge bed was extremely comfy and the room was nice and dark, and quiet for sleeping.The breakfast was a buffet and included cooked food, as well as cold meats, cheeses, and so on. There is even a swimming pool (outdoor) and, for us, 2 electric car charging points (free!!). The car park is not officially secure, but a security guard is around and nothing happened to our car nor anything left inside. You can easily walk to the historic sights and back if you are reasonably fit. (a lot of up and down hills!)

There could have been an electric kettle, tea and cups, (given the number of British guests staying!)

An excellent hotel in a great location overlooking the town of Braganca and its' castle. The room had a balcony, which also overlooked the (excellent) pool. Definitely a wow on arrival. Nice touch - a free poolside snack bar, with drinks. The hotel has a Michelin starred restaurant - prices are definitely not cheap, although the various tasting menus all looked tempting. The hotel also has links to a couple of other premium restaurants nearby. We chose to walk into town and found a small restaurant offering exceptional value.

The buffet breakfast was OK, but didn't seem to reflect the hotels' quality somehow.

We loved Isabel at reception and breakfast! Isabel was super attentive and caring. She does an amazing job making people feel cared for and special. Breakfast had fresh fruit with delicious flavours we particularly appreciated. The views from the property are spectacular.

The bed felt old and was not very comfortable. The size was great, but it felt like the hardness/softness was not great. I am allergic to dust mites and had some sneezes. So perhaps they could have a no mat option. A simple comfort that we would have loved to have would be simple tea and coffee facilities in the room.

We really appreciated the private parking area, so that our motorcycle could be parked directly in front of the entrance door. It seems that most of the hotels in the centre do not have parking. The view from the room/balcony was excellent, looking across to the castle and citadel. We loved the lounge area next to the bar with its large fireplace adding some warmth to the evening. Staff were welcoming and attentive. The room was warm in the evening, despite cold temperatures outside. We didn't need to use the air-conditioning. Whilst the pousada is located outside of the town centre, there is a pleasant walk down a path and steps and across a bridge over the river. About a 15 minutes walk not the centre, or 30 minutes to the castle.

We didn't use the Michelin-star restaurant on site because of the cost.

Gorgeous room, comfortable huge bed, lovely linen. Very quiet location and blackout linings to curtains. Balcony with view of the medieval old town across the valley. Beautiful historic old town. Staff very helpful speaking English, gave us a map and directions and made suggestions where to eat in town. Also a Michelin star restaurant with menus in the hotel. Pool with pool towels provided. Short but hilly walk into town but further to old town. Car park outside and breakfast included. Will stay again if we can!

Stylish mid 20th century hotel, spacious room and public areas. Good size swimming pool and lounging area. Away from the bustle of the city but fairly easy to walk there. Good choices at breakfast. Parking outside hotel with free electric car charging points, both 7kW and 3.5kW.

Restaurant was closed on Monday - we weren't expecting this. Faster charging point was taken by someone from c4pm. It was still there when we left at 11am. Some kind of booking system would have helped.

Out of our road-trips 21 different stays, this hotel was our most memorable one. The view, the room, the staff, the restaurant, it was all extraordinary. The road-trip was a memory for life but our stay here could stand on its own as a life memory. I recommend this hotel and the restaurant to anyone in the area.

The only "negative" experience was that someone had replaced a mini-whisky from the minibar with water but we got that replaced quickly. That was not the hotels fault but some sneak alcoholics fault.
