There was ample space, well off the main road, for our 3 motorbikes. Paulo checked us in. He is very much into history and sharing it, so we learned a few things about Anglo-British history during the entertaining process, across a struggling mix of Portuguese, English and French languages, strongly supported by Google Translate. The rooms were excellent, but do pay attention to the warning on the windows. They are heavy and will drop like guillotines if you're not careful. The hotel is on a hillside with great views of the countryside beyond the town. We were struggling to find an early evening meal option but Paolo came to the rescue and secured us an early table at the nearby Cozinha Velha de Vinhais. Breakfast was excellent.

This is not really a 'didn't like' - more a 'be aware' for motorcyclists. The approach to the hotel is a wide, but quite steep, cobbled surface straight off the main road. It could catch you unawares if you suddenly spot the entrance and quickly turn into it. We didn't have a mishap but it was a surprise. There were 2 other motorcycles at the hotel as well as our 3.

We loved everything. From the warm and friendly reception we received when we arrived, the excellent information about the town and restaurants, the draught beer from Madeira in the bar, the beautiful view from the terrace, comfortable beds, excellent and varied breakfast. We look forward to returning !

We had a problem in our room the first night and got offered a 1-night stay to compensate. Staff was really helpful. The view from the rooms was fantastic. It overlooked the mountains. The location was great, in the center of town.

Breakfast is absolutely amazing! Such a big variety of things and all fresh included in the price. It's rare that this happens so we loved it. Attentive host and nice view from the room.

Bed materraces are a bit used and not hard/comfy enough for our taste.

The hotel staff is extremely friendly, and they really make you feel at home. We had an unforeseen event, and they helped us in every way they could. Very well located. Very good and varied breakfast.

This is delightful hotel with warm and attentive staff and a great, ample breakfast, at a very reasonable off-season price. A good base from which to hike and explore the beautiful sierras.

What's not to like?

Best place to stay in Vinhais. Simple but clean rooms, solid bed. Lovely staff that made me a free sandwich late at night after a long walk, when everything was already closed.

Easy to find with safe parking. Spacious, clean rooms.

Not so much the property itself but it was impossible to get a good nights sleep due to constant dog barking (from multiple dogs) that went on right through the night. On that basis I could not recommend the hotel and would, sadly, not return.

The staff were friendly, parking was easy, great view from the room, good breakfast.

WiFi only in the reception area.

Hosts are incredibly nice and welcoming!! Everything is super-clean. Liked the outside space for drinks. Good mountain view. Rooms are ok, solid wood furniture with character and well maintained. Definitely will stay there next time I come back to lovely Montesinho nature park.
