Firstly the location is superb! The hotel is surrounded by the reservisor and hilly resulting in gorgeous views in every direction. The hotel was clean and nicely decorated. The pool overlooks the reservoir which is a great setting. The room was large and spacious with a nice terrace overlooking the castle. We hired a kayak from the hotel and went out on the reservoir which also has ts own jetty to swim in the reservoir which were both great experiences.

The pool floor is in need of repair. There are big sections of tiles that have and are coming away, all of which are loose in the pool. The bar and breakfast areas seemed to have limited staff and breakfast wasn't the best. There was also no coffee machine and/or kettle in the room.

Stunning location right on top of Alqueva. Very quiet and peaceful. The spa is fairly small but it has floor to ceiling glass so you’re relaxing with an amazing view into Alentejo’s golden rolling hills of cork/olive trees. The restaurant was surprisingly good, absolutely perfect local cuisine. Room was spacious, modern and comfortable. I’ve been recommending this hotel to family and friends

Kayaking and stand up paddling being unsupervised and with no one to help is far from ideal. It was ok for us being a fairly fit young couple who have done both activities before, but for younger / older people with no experience can quickly turn into a very frustrating process

We (4 adults) had a lovely stay herein July 2025. The hotel was not very crowded during the week. There was plenty of space at the lovely, clean pool overlooking the lake. The staff was friendly, and was even able to arrange a pack breakfast for us when we had a early excursion. The regular breakfast spread was wonderful, with hot options, loads of fresh fruit, and many homemade cakes and pastries. We ate at the restaurant both nights we stayed. The food was very good, if a little inconsistent from night to night. We loved the location in the countryside--it was very peaceful and quiet. There was almost no activity on the lake, so it was serene. There is little nearby light, so the stars were visible. We didn't get a chance to use the spa or the courts.

A kettle or coffee maker in the room would be a nice improvement. The pool area is a bit worn, with many of the pool tiles falling off. It didn't impact our ability to enjoy it though.

Panoramic views from the lounge areas upon entering the hotel are spectacular, only to find a similar view from our bedroom but better as there is a private terrace too. Dinner was very good, I recommend the pigs cheeks. (not usually a fan of hotel restaurants but I couldn't fault this one) reasonably priced. We were lucky enough to have what I thought was the best table in the restaurant with a vista that you couldn't get bored of and then coffee on the terrace as the sun set. Breakfast has an excellent and varied selection of sweet, savoury, hot and cold foods. Amazing honeycomb!

The location of the hotel and all the activities the hotel can offer. The view from each room is incredible.

It would be great if there would be some sunbeds and umbrellas for those that want to relax next to the lake and not only swim

This is a beautifully designed, exceptionally maintained and stylish property in the midst of 'dark skies' and serene natural beauty. Despite the modern aesthetic, it also felt authentic, unpretentious and sits well in its surroundings. Staff were attentive, in an unfussy and intuitive way. The restaurant menu is focussed, locally inspired, and the chef and team are first rate. I was travelling with my young son and there were other families there; we felt very comfortable and welcome.

Very clean and quiet, great breakfast and staff were fantastic. Rooms were clean and felt very high end. The location is fantastic - it feels secluded and overlooks a beautiful lake, but you're near enough to head into town for dinner by foot (around 20 mins walk). Great service around the pool area. Overall a fantastic hotel and I'll be back with the family.

The rental bikes on the property are very bad and need replacing. Considering it's quite a cycle into town, I would say well-kept electric bikes would be a massive plus. The ones there are rusty with flat tires.

really peaceful, view of the two castles and the rive guidiana , surrounded by lake and river it was truly stunning. Food excellent, staff and room all good. Pool and wellness centre good, for me it just lacked a fitness area. But in all a great place to stay and recharge

I wish it had a gym

Staff were very nice. My only problem was that we went for a Valentine get away and as it is advertised as a Spa we choose it, but there was no Massuse on duty, and the jacuzzi was out of order. But will return to try their outdoor pool when the weather permits because view was lovely.

Herdade dos Delgados is a wonderful property located in one of the most beautiful regions of Portugal and on the shores of the Alqueva artificial lake. The building itself is (or looks) quite new, with spacious, well-appointed bedrooms, a large swimming pool, a very good restaurant and gorgeous views of Monsaraz (in the distance) and Mourão. Staff were very professional and friendly (especially Marcos, our masseur) and the food was delicious and creative.

There isn't much we could find fault with, but I would recommend more indoors activities, in case the weather is bad: this is very much a place to spend time outdoors, either enjoying the pool or exploring the region, but when it rains there is little to do. Perhaps wine tastings, or organized visits to local attractions would be an option...
