I was looking for a luxurious hotel with Kyoto touch, cozy, away from the buzz yet easily accessible. Totally happy about my choice. All the staffs were friendly and helpful. There were 2 gardens surrounding the premise with an open view, one of them outside the restaurant where we had breakfast daily. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. The room was cozy and fresh, overlooking the temple afar. High quality toiletries, beautiful tea set and well stocked drinks. The indoor flower arrangement in different corners of the hotel was tasteful and warm. It was also a pleasure to take a stroll in the quiet neighbourhood, where places like Nanzenji and Kyoto Kyocera Museum were accessible on foot. There's a bus stop right outside the hotel where we took the bus directly to the Arashiyama district. We really appreciate the professionalism and hospitality of all the staffs, especially Mr Shinkawa who greeted us every morning to make sure we were having a good time.

Breakfast for us Vegetarians .. is a disaster

Although there were only two breakfast options, the service was amazing, and the omelette was soft, layered, and delicious. Starting the morning with a view of the garden was simply the best. The location is wonderful, nestled among quiet temples and within walking distance of Kyoto’s cultural centers.

I kinda wish it had a spa or onsen… but honestly, the bathtub in the room was spacious enough to soak and relax. I absolutely loved the decor just like the rest of Okura, every detail was so thoughtfully designed. The whole place felt safe, luxurious, comfortable, and incredibly zen.

From the moment you walk in you are greeted by incredibly lovely staff. They take your bags, make you feel at home and there’s a lovely scent the moment you walk in. The room is genuinely big, the shower is amazing and the amenities are restocked daily and very extensive: beer - coffee - tea - soft drinks etc . It’s serene and feels quiet when you’re in the room. This is the perfect hideaway in Kyoto to rest and recover. When we were there, there is a garden, plus a 3-6 happy hour!! The hotel staff couldn’t do too much for us, booking our reservations at restaurants etc.

The only minor ‘fault’ is / was that it isn’t overly near the station or top attractions. However there is a bus stop right outside!

This property is so peaceful and nice, I left this morning and wish I could go back. They don’t skip any details or cut any corners, everything is thought through and incredibly high quality. It’s not just surface level aesthetics, it’s truly a high craft and well designed property and room. The only possible “negative” could be that its location is a bit of a walk to the over touristy areas of Kyoto (Gion, main River, etc), regardless, it’s still pretty close to the Philosophers path. If you’re looking for something quiet, not touristy, but very very high quality (at a very very reasonable price), this is by far the place. Our stay here cost us well less than half of what we paid for “luxury” properties in Tokyo and Osaka, but Okura was by far nicer.

The location suited us-10 minutes walk from Nanzenji temple and surrounding area. The service was outstanding, the epitome of Omotenashi. We would stay here again for the service guest experience alone! Our room overlooked the garden and temple, was spacious, comfortable, quiet and beautifully fitted out. We have visited Kyoto more than 10 times and this is our new favourite!

Would love to see the option of Japanese breakfast, or asagohan offered. It’s one of the culinary pleasures we enjoy most on our frequent trips to Japan.

I was impress by its well thought architectural design.The factI that it’s part of the Okura Hotel Group, It still exceeded beyond my expectation. The Dolby Atmos was an added bonus! It made me feel like I was in a movie theater. I think I have found what I usually call a home away from home.❤️

No enough variety of choices for the i room dining service. I am hoping that one day they will add a Spa to the hotel to make it perfect.

I knew the hotel wasn’t very central, but I was looking forward to a quiet stay the beautiful garden I saw in the photos. Instead, our room faced the street with cars passing early in the morning and a big transformer right in front of the window. It was really disappointing. Breakfast limited and too expensive

Lovely comfortable room. I love the location of the hotel as it is quiet and not centrally located where there are lots of tourist. That said it is not that far from the central of Kyoto.
