The hotel was great. The room had a built in Japanese style bath, many amenities and the overall ambience was very pleasant enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Fufu Kyoto was an absolute experience. The location was stunning, the facility was immaculate, and the staff was above and beyond friendly. We particularly loved the garden. Our room was unbelievably comfortable and relaxing. My husband and I have become two bed converts. It’s such a small thing, but I loved the different light settings. Our in-room onsen was amazing. I resent that I had to leave and will no longer be able to take daily soaks to unwind. We had been sore from doing so much walking, but I felt rejuvenated each morning from the hot baths and the comfortable beds. We got a lot of use out of the super soft robes. The slippers and zori were also more comfortable than those at other hotels we have been to. The yukata were high quality. My only complaints with the room were that there wasn’t a way (that we could find) to dim the light outside the toilet room, so it was very bright if we got up to use the toilet during the night. The other thing is that there was a small sink in the toilet room that made it very tight. Our knees would bump it when we were in there. The breakfast was absolutely fantastic. My husband really enjoyed the Japanese breakfast. I appreciated that the staff noticed I didn’t really eat mine and was able to accommodate me with a western breakfast for the rest of our stay since I do not eat fish. The service we received while dining was impeccable. I enjoyed speaking with the staff. They noticed that I was working really hard to speak in Japanese and made sure to speak slowly and clearly with me so I could practice. It was really appreciated! I seriously could not get over how kind everyone was. We ordered room service one night after a long day of exploring and found it to be delicious. They even brought us a table to eat at and set it up for us. We will definitely stay with Fufu again, both here and at their other locations.

Oh my, this is the best hotel I've ever stayed at. We were greeted like royals from before we stepped inside. The views, the smells, the respect and the hospitality - it was all amazing. I ended up proposing to my girlfriend here, and we couldn't have chosen e better place for it. The private onsen was fantastic as well.
Nothing - it was all just amazing. If I really have to pick a thing I didn't enjoy 10/10, it would be that the breakfast is unusual for my taste, but it was fun to try and eat a lot of different new things. We ordered breakfast in our room.

We were very pleased with the room; thoughtfully designed and very comfortable. The hotel is an oasis of calm in the middle of the best area for seeing the city. The staff were accommodating and welcoming. We actually extended our stay by two days in order to better see this very special city. We had one minor miscommunication regarding the rate for our extension. This was due to linguistic difference no doubt. In all cases the manager was extremely helpful to resolve the issue and we left satisfied. I compliment the staff and in particular this manager, whose name I wish I could recall. I highly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful hotel with an authentic Japanese feel and high attention to details. Huge breakfast with both Japanese and Western options. Attentive staff. Interesting optional activities. Great location.
The room entry and bathroom lights are on a sensor. There is no way to turn them off or disable them which means in the middle of the night, everyone in the room get a blast of light when anyone goes to the bathroom. This is very poor design.

The property was beautiful, and the rooms were spacious and amazingly decorated. The breakfast that was served every morning was among the best meals that I had on the trip. The hot spring located in the hotel rooms were the perfect end to a day of walking around Kyoto! The staff was incredibly accommodating to changing the breakfast to suit our schedule.
There could be more staff who spoke better English, but they spoke enough to address any problems or concerns and it didn't inhibit my stay at all. The location is not central in the city, but is close to a train station and a few bus stops.

The style, the quietness of the whole place, the garden, the private onsen, the amenities provided and the team at the bar and in the restaurant
Some rooms can be quite dark during the day / have very little daylight. The reception team was not so welcoming and helpful as I expected it for a hotel of this category

The room was beautiful, the in-room onsen spectacular, the location couldn't have been better. We had one dinner at the hotel which was phenomenal.
The windows were all opaque - I've never seen anything quite like it. When asked, the host said that "if we wanted to look out a window, we would have needed to upgrade." This made the room seem a bit like a beautiful prison. Most of the staff were very nice. Our first experience wasn't great: We had walked a short distance from the subway through a driving rain, entered the hotel completely soaked, to be asked "Name?"

The room was amazing as well as the private onsen. The check-in was very good and the staff was very gentle. I loved the breakfast.
Given the price range of this hotel, they need to improve their English and communication skills if they want to have international guests. Many of the staff could barely speak English, nevertheless, they came every morning asking about how I wanted the room to be cleaned and what needed to be replaced. One day we asked for new towels, and when we came back the towels were not there. We asked again at the reception before leaving for dinner. We came back and again no towels. Only the following morning we realised that everything we asked for had been delivered but put into a cupboard at the entrance of the room. Communication is essential in this case. Also, the teapot was rusted.
