We're imagining the evening and the breakfasts cooks are different? We could not fault the evening meal or service/ambience. Fantastic food and a great Margarita by the manager with a stunning natural expansive outlook into the surrounding tidy bushland. The restaurant is cosy and nicely bustling with energetic groups of people Breakfast...a slow friendly, but not onto-it waitress who forgot part of our order - and a disappointing eggs benedict I'm afraid - undercooked, jelly-like eggs, over citrified Hollandaise and strange un-crispy bacon tainted by some metallic pan flavour - the whole dish was sub-par in taste and smell - despite initially looking promising! we really don't want to criticise because we enjoyed ourselves at the Lodge so much in most respects so we offer our feedback for your discretion and information so nyou can look at these few things - we want to come back and recommend to our friends - such a fabulous place!
thought the sheers attached to, and on the inside of, the curtains was strange. We would like to have pulled the sheers for privacy but still be able to see outside into nature without having to darken the room prematurely.

It is gorgeous!! Our room felt like a log cabin in the mountains. Huge windows, a heater, comfortable beds, walking trails right outside, and just FUN vibes. It feels like a big, happy family. My son loved the playground and trampoline. We loved walking the trail to Lake Rotoiti, seeing eels in the creek on the property, and visiting with other guests at the restaurant. Laundry facilities were an added bonus. It’s a cozy, fun place and the hosts are lovely people!
It seemed a little pricey but it’s the only place around, and they were clearly busy in January.

The receptionists were very friendly and helpful, and the owner very personable and engaging too. Facilities were good with the restaurant/bar and spa onsite. I appreciated being given access to the backpackers kitchen to use the oven there to bake my daughter's birthday cake. The grounds and access to walks right from the car park was really great. We had a great time staying at Alpine Lodge.
I expected a full kitchen as I think this was mentioned in the family apartment description, but on arrival I discovered there was no oven. However, I was given access to the backpackers oven to do baking I had planned which worked out fine.

The location, the service, the food all fabulous. The room was older, and we were given the room for disabled and this was tricky for us tall people as the bathroom was all build lower but did not take away from the total experience. The room was warm and very comfortable. The restaurant was top notch. A very special shout out to Bonita. She was a gem as were every other staff member. A place to remember
All loved

The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. We needed to extend our stay by one night due to unforeseen circumstances and they were more than happy to accommodate us. The receptionist was very kind and made sure we had everything we needed. Nothing was too much bother. Accommodation was very comfortable, clean and spacious. The restaurant served delicious food with views of the mountains. Need to book as very popular. Highly recommend.

Location was excellent and the room was fine. The restaurant meals were reasonably priced and a good quality. Access to the Lakes area is excellent.
There are no specific parking bays for individual rooms so it can be hit and miss getting a park near your room depending on when you arrive or if you go out and come back late. It's a pity there isn't more competition for accommodation as prices seem inflated for what is offered.

Our stay at Alpine Lodge was booked on a whim without looking into it much. The hostess was so warm and welcoming when we checked in! She knew lots about the area and had superb recommendations with what to do locally. The food at the restaurant was absolutely AMAZING. Had some killer king scallops and perfectly cooked snapper that just blew our minds! The breakfasts here were really lovely too. Generous portions. The room itself is a bit on the older side, but very quiet, well outfitted, and kept exceptionally clean, along with a great view of the bush/national park. The bed was super comfortable and I had great sleeps there. I would absolutely recommend Alpine Lodge to anyone visiting Nelson Lakes area, it is a locally owned and family-run establishment that will treat you so well.

Resturant is world class which is why we chose to stay and always eat there when travelling through. A change in our travel plans allowed us this unexpected chance to stay. We had a 2 bedroom unit with adult daughter with parking right outside our unit/chalet. Unit very clean.
As bedroom west facing the Lodge might want to consider sun blinds as the great blackout curtains made room too dark. Also invest in insect screens on windoes as the summer temps do bring them inside. As we were in peak holiday season we paid a very high price for a room which probably was going to stay empty as we booked same day we stayed.

Quiet and comfortable in a nice setting. I usually avoid places with common bathrooms, but this one was just fine as the toilets and showers still feel very private. A nice well equipped kitchen and common area. We did not use as we were there only one night, but I can see how that would be great if you’re staying awhile and want to do some of your own food.
It’s slightly removed from the main part of town where restaurants are located, but it was a nice walk into town. I wouldn’t say I “didn’t like it” but some might prefer being closer to the action.

Location was excellent, Restaurant food was of a very high standard, Bed was great Staff went out of way to be helpful and meet our needs Liked the maps and pictures on walls in dining/rec area
Limited parking spaces - hard to park near room if arriving a little later No fly screens on windows so didn't feel like we could leave window open for airflow No exhaust fan in bathroom
